Another year was always another chance for Jeremy, who always looked forward for the new year to come. It was weird how a span of one day could symbolize a whole new year. Even though Jeremy felt in was foolish to think one day could make a whole difference, he still felt there is some power that the new year holds, whether it was the promises of a better year or if it was just the subtle change of the ending digit on the date (2007 to 2008).
Jeremy stood against the wall of the feasting hall, near a table that was near a bunch of red balloons, which he thought symbolized that the table belonged to the Gryffindors. He glanced across the entire room, looking at all of his professors, fellow students, and random people that Jeremy really had no idea who they were. The last social gathering was quite an awkward event for the maturing Gryffindor, but he felt there was no point of staying in the confines of the Gryffindor Common Room. No matter how cozy and relaxing the room was, it always felt cold and disturbing to Jeremy when he was alone there. Jeremy had a couple of quiet months once more, which was nothing too surprising to Jeremy. The blond took a few steps closer to the table he was near, and sat at the end, right before Sylph announcement of the official start of the dance.
Jeremy glanced downward, and his eyes met the floor, which was giving off a familiar light. Even though the light was quite tranquil, it still seemed to bother him, so he turned his glance upward, into the night sky. In reality, it was just a ceiling that was made to look like the night sky during a fireworks display. Jeremy had stopped his attempts to group what was real and and wasn't at this point in his magic career. His hand met with a glass of some purple liquid, which Jeremy decided to drink, slowly. His feet were slightly crossed and swaying a little back and forth.
Jeremy wondered what things were happening outside the school, what all of the societies and creatures were planning, if they were planning anything. It is quite obvious that an attack on the the school would be best during an event such like this. With almost everybody located in the same place, it would just be easy pickings for the baddies that lurked outside the walls of the school. Jeremy quickly discouraged himself from thinking such negative thoughts, so he returned his attention back onto the party-goers. Jeremy was tired and he pondered whether or not he would be able to make it to the new day awake, but he knew as long as he is here, there would be no sleeping.
The new year doesn't only cause subtle changes, it also causes changes in people themselves. Back home, Jeremy and his family always made an effort to make and then achieve their New Years resolution. Jeremy's was always simple, like being a better son, being a better student, doing better at sports, nothing all too great or exciting. Jeremy wanted this year's resolution to be special, and to be new to him. Even though deciding on a resolution is hard for some, and usually pointless for others, Jeremy's came quick to him. He decided a character change was in order, an overhaul in his case as of late...
...Jeremy wanted to be more like a true Gryffindor.
