Amira walked into the dueling field. She walked over to a bench and sat down. She wondered how her parents were doing. Amira missed her mom and dad terribly. Even though she wrote every day, she still missed them terribly.
Amira sat there, running her fingers through her wavy hair.
She was wearing a necklace her mother gave her. It said Amira on it. Her mother gave it to her when she was about to board the train.
She felt like she was about to cry, but she managed to hold herself back.
There was a stick beside her. She figured she could practice her magic. Amira said, "Wingardium leviosa," and the stick didn't float. She kept trying and trying, but it wouldn't float. She would throw the stick and then used a summoning charm accio, and it would only come a couple of feet toward her.
She flicked her wand and said, "Incarcerous!" It backfired and tied her up, and she couldn't get herself untied.
Thus, she lied on the ground, wiggling like a worm and panicking. "HELP ME!" she yelled over and over.
Someone had to be kidding. Had some kind of omniscient deity decided that Ignatius would be his Paladin, riding forth in total oblivion to his quest, taking walks around the various locales of the school and also saving fair damsels where e'er he so briskly strove? As ridiculous as it seemed, there may have been some kind of truth to it.
Either that or Ignatius just kept running into endangered girls out of sheer dumb luck.
"Don't worry miss, I'll help you!" shouted the Slytherin, running down the lawn to the Dueling Field where a girl had found herself wrapped up in an attempt to train her powers. He reached for his wand and, when he had come close enough to the girl, shouted "Diffindo!" The words sparked a most clever spell, slicing the conjured ropes to little magic pieces. "Are you okay?"
[Sorry for the bad quality of this post, it's my first post here since a year or so ago. Still gotta get into the hang of things again; Amira requested previously that I join her in this thread, so here I am. Oh, and I enjoy being invited to threads, so if any of you want some dragon drama, I'm all for it!]
The azure-and-bleach drake flew high, hidden in the day's heavy cloud cover. As he neared the school, he reflected the past year. He had flown to the Spanish school in early Spring over a year ago from a land far away. Meanwhile, his kind was being murdered by wizards, hoards of them, portraying the dragons who lived there as savage beasts who preyed upon livestock and murdered handfuls of wizards at a time. But, then, what was a breed to do when its environment is being destroyed and its food supply depleted? His reason for being here was to find either a wizard, a muggle, a mud-blood, or other creature of equal intelligence to "bind" with and to use said creature to convince the wizards to either leave the dragons' territory or cease mindlessly slaughtering them.. Yet in an entire year, he'd gotten nowhere. After intense hibernation, it was finally time for Operea to get down to business.
As he glided over the land, the screams of a young girl reached his keen ears and he looked down with highly evolved eyes, sights settling upon the scene as he broke the dewpoint and emerged from his hiding place among the clouds. The dragon immediately pitied the poor student, bound with her own spell and struggling both with body and voice for assistance. Immediately, he turned his body downwards, nosediving for the dueling field. Witnesses would see an enormous, winged beast hurtling from the sky, heading straight for the tied girl - those with more colourful imaginations would most likely believe that he intended to do her harm.
But as the young Slytherin ran onto the dueling field to relieve the damsel of her distress, Operea found himself too close to the ground to pull up without crashing into something; he simply had to land. Thickly muscled wings knotted and strained in an intense attempt to slow his descent, the wind howling and whooshing as his wings manipulated gusts and waves. And all at once, the ground appeared.
Operea's landing was less than graceful, a classic bird's-first-flight stumble to earth. He grunted, looking at the two students with an intelligent eye, himself appearing sheepish and embarrassed for his clumsy first-impression. Though upon noticing that the Hufflepuff was no longer in need of his aid, the scaled male bowed his head and turned, preparing to leave; this duo certainly wouldn't be mature enough to help his kin's plight.

"I'm fine. I'm alright," Amira said, rubbing her arms where the ropes used to be. Then, she looked into the air and saw a dragon. "O-M-G DRAGON!!!!!"
Amira put her arms in front of her trying to block the wind from her eyes. The gust made her fall back a foot or two. Her blond hair blew backward, hard.
Amira said to the boy next to her, "Please don't hurt him. He just needed to land." She took a couple steps toward the dragon. She decided she didn't want to get eaten, so she stepped back.
She yelled, "What are you looking for, dragon? What do you need? I won't hurt you." Amira meant every word of it. She wasn't going to hurt the dragon even if flew toward her and tried to eat her--she would just run as fast as she could. Besides, she didn't want to use her magic until she learned how. She could make another mistake. Who knew what it would be this time?
(ooc: Thank you for giving me the time to respond.)
Yes. Someone was kidding. Someone had to be kidding! IF SOMEONE WASN'T KIDDING, THEN THEY REALLY SHOULD'VE BEEN. As Ignatius stared up in horror at the titanic figure of the Dragon, he felt a surge of shock run through his body that kept him from moving even a single muscle. So he was a Slytherin! So he fell in with the type of crowd that liked to word their way through things. It didn't mean he could word with a Dragon.
...Could he? Could this whole problem be solved through words? Maybe. Between discussion and death, a peaceful negotiation always seemed best. Especially if this creature was sentient and not, well, a wild reptilian beast bent on eating them both. There were said to be both in Europe, and maybe this creature wasn't even European.
"Hold on, hold on," said Ignatius, his courage having returned, if only to use on a desperate gamble. The Slytherin strode forward to Amira's side, "You were already in one bind - no pun intended - I don't think you want to be in another." He looked up into the wise eyes of the creature and immediately did what any self-respecting Slytherin would do. Act cool and suck up to it. He fell to one knee, bowing as if the Dragon were some kind of foreign Emperor come to visit. "An honor to be in your most ferocious presence! Tell me, oh Dragon, what brings you to this Castle, if it is not the obvious, and you have come to slaughter the Knights, steal the Princesses, and devour the King?"
The sizeable draconian's wings flapped once, twice, then halted upon hearing the students' voices addressing him ever-so-respectfully. He turned, looking down at them, studying them as intensely as he dared. Both seemed young, but contrary to his first impression, they appeared to know a thing or two about magic... Which meant they were most likely associated with whomever ran the place. His maw curled into a grin as an idea reached him.
"Wizards," He growled, his voice deep and sounding of a well-civilised soul, "My plight is of small significance to you, I'm sure, but my kind are being murdered by yours. Slaughtered as if animals. I come to this Castle not to act a savage monster, but to find someone, anyone, who can put a stop to it. Otherwise, I'll be the last pure Tibetan Nightback to exist." After speaking, he bowed his head in respect, never one to treat another creature as though they were inferior. He looked from one to the other, hoping they understood the dire importance of the situation. "And I, in my infinite idiocy, spent a year hibernating. Our population must be cut in half by now.."
It was obvious in those bright green eyes that Operea was at great distress, desperate to save his race. His idea? To hope that even though these mere kids may not be able to help him directly, they may be able to bring someone to him who could.
Ignatius didn't dare breathe even after discovering the Dragon was in fact sentient and one of those wise elder drakes that could speak and were civilized. Just because a Dragon could talk didn't mean it wouldn't eat you...even if it said it wouldn't. The Slytherin couldn't help but feel only slightly remorseful for its reason for coming. He hoped the creature couldn't read minds, because for a split second the black robed boy thought something along the lines of 'Well that's probably for the best...'
Still, it was only for a second, and seeing the Dragon bowing its head to them as if they were the ones who would eat it, the Slytherin came to feel guilty for his thoughts. Perhaps the boy really had gotten this creature mixed up with its vulgar cousins. Maybe, just maybe, the difference between a smart Dragon and a stupid Dragon, probably obvious to them, was the difference between a human and an ape.
"Well I..." Ignatius began to respond, "Don't think I can do anything about it. Not yet, anyway, but if one year can destroy your people, I probably won't be able to do too much...but I happen to know of someone who might be able to help you."

Amira had just noticed the innocent bystanders. Maybe they could help out in some way. She thought they knew someone who was killing the dragons. If they knew who was killing them, they could get them to stop.
"Does anyone know a way to save this Draconian race? These creatures are dying, and it's our fault. We need to stop killing these beautiful creatures. We must protect these animals. Do you know how important they are to the world? Well, I don't know how important. How would you feel if dragons were killing us?" asked Amira pointing toward the dragon.
