(OOC: First post to Roan if she'd like)
Fed up with the Ravenclaw take over of the Slytherin feasting table, Phugsius decided eating lunch on the dueling field would be a much better, and far more relaxing, lunching experience. The sky was a bright clear blue and the sun shone with all its brilliance which made for a perfect lunching experience with the mild temperature. It truly was a good day for a lunch (Thumbs up).
The Slytherin prefect strode across the dueling field with a scowl despite the wonderful day. He wore his Slytherin dragonscale cloak which accompanied him everywhere nowadays. It was truly a testament to the pride he felt for his house. He also carried in his left hand a bagged lunch of whatever he wanted to eat out of the feasting hall. Today, his lunch consisted of a chicken sandwhich and some waffle fries (fo free). This ensemble was accompanied by a tea and krumpets for dessert (Totally British right?). Swiftly taking a seat on the bleachers he opened up his bag and pulled out his mid-day feast and began to munch eagerly.
“You know it really isn’t polite to just up and run off on a teacher like that.” A disembodied voice came from around Phugsius as he took his meal on the Dueling Fields. There was nobody in sight which would have confused anyone who heard the voice speaking to the Slytherin. Also without warning the food Phugsius was holding burst into flame. Not just the kind of flame that comes from a match, but a hungry gnawing flame that was unnatural and seemed to come from the belly of a dragon itself. “And it’s not smart when your teacher has the power to incinerate you in moments if she so chose.” The voice came again.
It was followed by Roan almost ‘materializing’ in front of Phugsius. In reality she was hidden by the powers of her companion, the sleek dragon that was draped about her shoulders like a shawl. The cat-like Song peered at Phugsius with unnatural human eyes, content with her powers having hidden her mother so Roan could sneak up on him. She was the calm one, the observer, only brought out when the lycaness wanted stealth. Her more rambunctious counterpart, Aiden, was currently the companion of the Headmaster though he visited from time to time.
“I risked a lot waking up your fire! And how do you repay me? By running off the moment I do it! No respect for your teacher! No respect for the art of elementalism!” Roan didn’t even give the Slytherin time to catch himself if he wanted to before she launched into her lecturing like an old mother. She was older than him, by a couple of years because she would have graduated a mere two years ago. Her cheeks were rosy red with anger and her eyes were ablaze. Since the incident of destroying a horcrux in a matter of seconds she had found her flames harder to control. Being almost an entity inside Roan it had enjoyed the violent destruction and wanted more, pitting her back into old battles with her element.
She was dressed for the chilly fall weather that was creeping down and was totally out of place on the school grounds. It didn’t matter to Roan as it would to other lycans because the Headmaster had given her permission to even live on the grounds if she needed for protection. And she had used this to sniff out Phugsius and let her anger out on the boy for what he had done.
“I trusted you.” Her voice was beast like, hinting at the betrayal she felt. There was not the connection of master and student that needed to be there. Roan had risked losing her own flames or possibly destroying Phugsius to wake him up and give him the power to be able to fight vampires as he wished. And he had practically stabbed her in the back by turning his.

A pleasant breeze grazed black hair as Phugsius took a bite out of his sandwich and slowly savoured the nourishing taste. The tang of the cooked chicken and freshly baked bread filled his mouth. The Slytherin prefect was enjoying his yummy, nutritious, and pleasurable meal overall, that was until a familiar voice spoke to him seemingly out of thin air.
“You know it really isn’t polite to just up and run off on a teacher like that”
It took him a moment to place the voice exactly… An angry looking face matched the voice as it’s owner. Eyes like embers, rough hands… a lycaness Roan, of course.
He wouldn’t be able to enjoy his meal now. This point was especially made clear when his food burst into flame in front of him. It was quickly dropped to the ground and kept burning. A look of displeasure crossed his face as he sat looking downward at the smoldering remenants of his sandwhich. “Don’t you thi-“ he was cut off. Apparently Phugsius wouldn’t be able to get a word in edgewise.
“And it’s not smart when your teacher has the power to incinerate you in moments if she so chose.”
Opening his mouth once more, he was again silenced by Roans appearance out of thin air and the continuation of her motherly lecture. On and on and on nagging in his ear drum. He supposed he’d have to set some things straight with this hot head. So that being his plan he sat quietly and politely listening to her, his hands folded in his lap.
Phugsius let a few beats pass after she had finished to organize his thoughts. His emerald eyes gazed into hers “I didn’t betray you at all. Do you know how hard it is to find lycanesses around here besides Willow? Well all you said is ‘contact me’. You never told me an address or where I could send letters. In fact, I didn’t even know your name until you told me that day. Now, I apologize if my attitude toward you might have been a bit skeptical. but could you really blame me considering our past and your attitude. It also didn’t help I assumed you would find me when you wanted to train me, after all, you know where I live. So after that, don’t you think you might have over reacted a bit?”
Phugsius crossed his arms and smiled, letting his eyes drift conspicuously to the rest of his lunch. He slowly reached for his waffle fries in case Roan decided to make another sacrifice to her flame.
He wasn’t going to get his waffle fries for even as his hand reached for them Roan threw a stream of flame and incinerated them. Hopefully he liked his food charred. She didn’t like his attitude. He was so coy sitting there smiling at her when he didn’t realize the offense he had committed. She had never intended to take on a protégé in her life. The lupine had fully intended to keep her powers to herself and not teach it to anyone. And here she had seen the small opening in someone who could really use the power instead of squandering it. And right when she opened herself up he ran out.
“You shouldn’t have walked away that day without finding some way to contact me! Do you even know what you play with? Even trained fire elementalists risk losing their handle sometimes, though at least they know enough to reel it back in. What do you think that says about the unprepared? Do you have anyone in your life that you love? Do you know how much you could have hurt them!?” Her voice was as harsh as her eyes. Staring into those would have been staring into a blazing desert in the summer. They were full of the fear of what could have happened, or even what may have and she didn’t know.
That hurt her inside too. Had he hurt someone? Had he lost control already somewhere?
“How would you feel if you burned someone you cared about alive and had no clue how to stop it? This is a power that needs practice under the hands of someone who deals with it every day! You had no right to walk away from me the day I woke you up! I was your teacher and instead of waiting for my okay you just walked off. And don’t you dare think of touching your food again right now or I’ll burn your hand instead.”

As Phugsius reached for his waffle fries, they burst into flame causing him to pull his hand back in alarm. Now this was getting a tad annoying. All he wanted was sustenance and she felt it was totally appropriate to destroy it. This wasn't the right way to connect and bond. Sure, she had a right to be angry, but this was just ridiculous and not productive. At least he could reason with Sylph. Roan was practically a brick wall it seemed.
This student/teacher relationship was off to a great start. Civil reasoning obviously wasn't this brutish woman's strong point. It was all "Burn now, ask later". This got Roan no bonus points in Phugsius' book. Phugsius used a great amount of discretion when he wasn't in a blind fury or around Niobe. He had made a good amount of progress in this department, however. His bi-nightly meditation ceremonies were letting him become more in tune with his fire and restrict it.
His smile turned into a scowl as he watched his fries burn. "Listen, Roan, I'm a loner. I always have been, since I left Hogsmeade, and I always work best when I'm alone. That's just how it is. Sorry if that hurt your feelings, but it's really not personal" Phugsius had kept his eyes away from hers because he hadn't wished to reveal that tidbit about himself. It seemed to be the only way to console her and stop her from nagging him for his common distrust of everyone.
"Either way, regardless of what I wanted, Sylph found me and helped me learn how to control my elementalism. If you feel like helping me, that's fine. If not, just let me finish my lunch" His emerald eyes pierced her with an odd, cold, and dejected stare, "and no, not a single person got hurt"
Of course Roan was a brick wall! She was practically a manifestation of fire and took many qualities from it. And as such sometimes her moods were beyond her control when their tinder was sparked by events such as these. He may never understand how deeply he offended. A deep pang struck her heart when he said he had gone to Sylph. She may be an elementalist but it was in another element. There was no offense to wind mages but it was something different than fire. And she couldn’t begrudge her friend from teaching if she wished; it just didn’t seem fair to Roan that Sylph got to teach what should have been her student.
“I don’t care if you’re a loner. You were plenty fine being around me when you were dogging me to hand over this power to you. Like a sad little puppy following me for a treat. And I finally felt like I could trust you with that power because there needed to be someone to help fight against those damn vampires! But instead all I did was hand over the reins of destruction to a stupid child.” Her words bit like acid.
“If I ever find that you hurt somebody with this because you are an impudent fool who doesn’t have the sense to learn from his teacher then I swear I will make you pay. You wanted to learn the true nature of fire, well I’ll make you burn at the slightest whisper.” It was painful to say but Roan wouldn’t let something she caused be unleashed upon Firefox. If Phugsius ever strayed from his path he could be sure the lupine would be right behind him ready to turn him to ash.
For good measure, or perhaps just in anger, she waved her hand again and let the materials that had carried his food burn as well. “If an inkling of sense comes to your head and you want to learn I have a home at the edge of Drakborough. It’s not hard to find, it’s backyard opens right to the Woods.” Glaring at him one more time to enforce her words Roan let herself melt into her wolf form and dashed away from the Slytherin.
