"Song, where are you going?" Roan yelled cheerfully as she chased after her black dragon, flying across the school grounds. She and Song had been training with Song's Shadow powers down by the river, when the dragon had perked up and took flight for some reason. Since Roan had recovered her memory, she had been reminded of the dragons she had created, and that she had meant to train them. For what, she didnt know, for that was still a large gap in her mind, but they still needed training. Song's calming presence and Aiden's cheerful nature had been blessings to her, when she was still confused in her life. Roan had focused on normal things, like her Prefect duties, school, Quidditch, friends, her magic, her training. All of those things, and hadnt once thought about the Society or the monster lycan that lurked around sometimes. Those were gone from her mind, leaving a far more peaceful girl in their wake. Anyone who came in contact with her these days was puzzled to find that Roan was not the firey demoness child that she used to be, but rather...normal. Save for her two metallic dragons and her fire elementalist powers, which had yet to be trained.
Song kept on flying, and Roan kept up the chase, running across the grounds, her brown hair flying behind her as were her black robes. The sun was high in the sky, and it was a beautiful Spring day, part of the reason she didnt mind running after her creature. Song seemed to have a destination in mind though, for she flew around things and her black eyes were straight forward, as if staring into the distance. Where was her black dragon leading her? Roan laughed at the thought that this would be an adventure, like those in novels and books she loved to read in the library. A new place to explore perhaps. Roan had no idea that where she was going was better left alone, for no human in their right mind should step foot in there. Suddenly Song had dissappeared in a group of trees that extended far. Roan came to a halt outside the border of it, and found that she was staring into a large and expansive forest. She had seen this when she stood atop the North Tower sometimes, always wondering what was inside, but at the same time, something deep inside her told her to stay away. Before she had lost her memory, Roan had come to know that it was Fenris's Wood there, and should not be crossed into by humans. She had a history with the lycan, and had just kept away to avoid conflict. Now though, with her memory shot, she didnt remember that, and just saw the Forest as an interesting place to be.
Roan stopped looking and began to walk underneath the trees, eyes searching around with mirth, taking in all there was to see. Song was nowhere in sight, but she was probably blending in well in the darker spots of the Forest. Roan was in awe, she loved being out here, and smiled. Her wand was in a case hanging at her waist, and it never occured once to her to draw it, never occured to her that she would be in serious danger in this place. She wasnt as alert as she used to be, wasnt as tense. All of her spells were still in her mind, should she need to fight, but she would barely remember how to. This new Roan was carefree in many ways, but that was all going to come crashing down at one point. Sooner or later, her curiousity was going to get her into trouble. The Prefect continued to walk deeper into the forest, unaware that it was darker in here then it was on the grounds. "Song?" She called, her voice echoing around her. Where had her dragon gotten to? The creature was a good hider, made for stealth. If Song wanted to remain hidden from Roan, she could probably stay that way for years on end. She just chuckled, her dragon would come back to her eventually. Roan stopped at the base of a large tree, and wondered how hard it would be to try and climb it.
As she reached for a branch above her head, there was a rustling sound behind her, and she stopped and turned around quickly, her hand going to the case at her side where her wand was stored. "Hello?" She called shakily, hoping it was just some creature of the woods she wouldnt have to worry about. When no more rustling came, Roan had trouble taking her eyes from the spot, but eventually shrugged and turned around, reaching for the branch again. Before her fingers could clasp around the rough bark, another sound came from her left, and her right hand went straight to the case at her side again, wondering if she should just draw her wand and be done with it. "Song, is that you? No games now, come on out." There was no way Roan was going to try and climb that tree now when there was obviously something nearby. Slowly but surely she began to walk towards the source of the noise, her hand poised over her wand case. It was a clump of large bushes at the base of a tree, and they rustled again, as if something was inside them.
As soon as Roan approached the bush, and warily extended a hand to push part of it aside, the creature within it bolted out and landed right on Roan's chest, with a look on its face that was an obvious grin. Song thought she was so clever, messing with her mother like that. She liked to have fun like that sometimes, for she was still a young dragon at heart. But Roan was not so amused, and bad things happen when she is startled. She let out a small yelp and backed up quickly as Song shot out, her hands going away from the casing and almost going to Song. The only thing that prevented her was a strange feeling inside. For a moment, no more then that, she was herself again, fire blazing in her hazel eyes. It was a feeling that welled up inside her, and she could swear she could feel the fire raging in her veins increase. If Roan hadnt moved her hands away from Song at the last moment, and ended up at either side of her towards the trees, the dragon would have been scorched or melted by the fire that was coming out of her mistress. By the powers she was losing control of due to the shock of the moment.
Roan had felt threatened in that moment, and so the fire came. Two trees with high tops caught flame with brilliant red color. The sound was great, because flame caught easily, especially in a forest such as this when all around it was flammable, and the treetops were easy to catch fire. Roan quickly lowered her hands, and Song quickly ran up to her mistress's shoulder, standing alert and looking around at the damage being done. Fire caught from one tree to the next, and thick smoke was going to start coming any time now. Roan's look was one of horror, pure horror. She had done this once, and had set a nurse's robes on fire because of it. Had she lost control of the fire within her again? Her heart was racing as she saw more trees catch fire around her, and quickly Roan moved out before she could be completely surrounded by the roaring flames.
What had she done?
