On Saturdays, there didn’t seem to be much to do around Firefox Academy. Teachers had stopped setting homework apart from revision for their end of year exams and most people were busy cramming for them instead of anything else. Charlotte, on the other hand, had spent so much time on assignments while she had been under Roan’s watchful eye, learning everything until she had it right, that the Hufflepuff knew it all anyway. It seemed engraved on her mind.
The day was growing late, and early evening was beginning to set in. After being indoors all day, Charlotte decided to go for a walk, but to the one place in the school grounds she had yet to go. The woods. At least no one would think to find her there, she supposed. All day, she had been surrounded by giggling girls and boisterous boys who had nothing better to do with their day than disturb her while she was trying to finish a painting in the common room. Her bedroom was far too enclosed to be able to do it in, while the common room was nice, light and airy. Most people were outside, but those few who knew how to wind her up, did so loudly.
In the end, she had decided the walk would be for the best.
Shuffling along the path, past the Quidditch Stadium, over the lake, and towards the mountains, kicking a stone along the path as she walked. If she was still as she was before, Charlotte would have no qualms about joining in with everyone else’s games, but as it was, she was still trying to isolate herself.
Reaching the woods, the brunette Hufflepuff walked in without hesitation, hardly even noticing where she was going until her eyes caught a tree in front of her. A tree with a few low slung, yet sturdy branches.
Climbing it deftly, Charl moved so her back was supported by the bark, and her legs swung either side of the sturdy branch she sat on. For a long time, the girl allowed herself to daydream, relaxing in the rays of bright sun that peeked through the shocking green leaves, listening to the bird’s evening song, and simply letting everything be. For some reason, she felt more at peace out here on her own than she did anywhere inside the school building itself.
Maybe she was a nature girl at heart.
