A soft breeze drifted through the air, washing away any residue from the bar that remained as Faith and Rayne continued on their walk. Faith breathed in deep, relishing the fresh air. Much better than the air in the crowded bar. Faith clutched Ray’s hand tightly within her own, afraid if she let go the shorter girl would take off. Thus far, their conversation had been light, casual stuff that one would expect to pass between old friends. It would have to do for now.
The night was relatively warm, maybe a little to warm, but the breeze was creating the perfect temperature as it cooled warm skin. The sun had set a few hours ago, leaving the grounds dark. If it weren’t for her lycan vision, she would have been stumbling the whole way, being unfamiliar with her new surroundings. Luckily she didn’t have to worry about that embarrassment. … Not that Rayne hadn’t seen her fall numerous times before. But, still, this didn’t seem like the time to be her old goofy self. This needed to be more serious.
Crystalline eyes stared towards the sky as they walked, after all her time spent traveling she still could not get enough of the stars. Letting out a soft sigh, Faith squeezed Rayne hand just a little tighter, before letting go as she inspected the edges of the lake for a good resting spot. Gesturing towards a tree, Faith settled down below it, stretching her legs out in front of her and leaning back on her hands.
Giving Rayne a lazy smile as her tense muscles began to relax, Faith spoke in her usual low tone, “This is much more relaxing than the bar, don’t cha think?” Peering up at the stars once more, Faith thought over her journeys, of all the different places she had sat and looked up at the sky. In all those years, this was her favourite spot. As she moved her gaze towards the other lycaness, Faith knew why. There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but wasn’t sure if she was allowed. So many wounds she wanted to help heal. So much time she had to make up for.
Deciding that, even if she didn’t get the answer, putting the question out there was better than nothing, Faith met Rayne’s gaze, “Rayne… I know it’s not my place to ask, but… What happened? Who did that to you? …Why, why did they do it to you?” A tightness formed in her chest. Did she want to know? Of course she did, but she wasn’t sure if she could handle to hear the details. Seeing so much pain done, so many bruises hidden beneath the surface of her skin. There was a chance Faith would go searching for vengeance. Feeling the anger bubbling up, Faith closed her eyes briefly, reminding herself that revenge wasn’t the right road to take. Just had to remain calm.
