Whites led the way outside. Sure, she'd passed him at first but he made sure to get at an even pace with her, walking step by step. He was used to matching his pace to others, whether they were faster or slower than him, so it was no big deal. It wasn't that he was copying them, or following them, or whatever, he just felt that that was the easiest thing for him to do.
So, while he wasn't technically in front, he was still leading her outside. After all, he had suggested it.
...Anyway.
It had been kind of cute--though he hated to think things like that about someone he wasn't even friends with yet, he wasn't exactly a eunuch--the way she'd gotten a little flustered when he asked. He'd thought about reassuring her, in a 'hey no hetero' kind of way, but thought that would only spawn even worse ideas in her already proven pessimistic imagination.
But anyway, they were outside.
He stretched for a second, taking in the sunlight and the fresh air. It was a warmer day today, for November, and he was glad for it.
"Much better!" He said, glancing over at Asher as they kept moving towards the lake. He looked her over. Yeah, she looked much better out of the dark gloom of the dungeons. Maybe the sun would improve her mindset!

The first step outside had been a challenge, and it was only because Whites had been looking at her so encouragingly that she had even walked out there. Momentarily blinded, she had flailed wildly for a moment before she could see.
Or maybe she had been teleported in that short amount of time, and when she opened her eyes Whites would be replaced by a big, ugly -
Still Whites. Huh. All the colors were so much brighter out here. Maybe she had eaten a weird mushroom or something on the way out and it had wiped her memory, and it was making her freak out and see things weird.
Had his -
"Were your eyes always that color?" She squinted at him, leaning forward until she practically fell forward. "Like. Green and brown and stuff."
It was kind of nice kind of.
Too bad this was all just a hallucination and it would go away after awhile. Or maybe it would never go away. Asher thought that wouldn't be so bad, after all, it made everything such a pretty color.
"Toxic colors," she mumbled under her breath, falling flat on her feet. She held her breath. One, two, three. Still hallucinating. She spoke without letting out the air. "Looks weird."
Whites blinked for a second, taken aback. His eyes? What about them? Almost as a reflex, he brought his hand up to the side of his face, poking almost at his eye.
"I, uh. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they've been green and brown and stuff this whole time." He had to smile at that. "What... what about them? They look weird?"
At least she was talking, now. It was a good change!
Yep, that was him. Turning anti-social Slytherins into happy-go-lucky social butterflies. Whites: 1 Slytherins: 1. They were pretty even, as it was. He'd still get that Micha Volkov, it would just take time. This was a good start, though.
He was just joking, of course. He wasn't going to crusade to personality make-over every Slytherin, even though they desperately needed it.
"I like your eyes, if that means anything." He wasn't trying to be flirtatious, it was just a way to keep the conversation going. Probably. "They're a lot less 'and brown and stuff' than mine."

"Well it was dark," Asher said, almost huffily. Irritated? Asher? Huh. That was new. She scowled at him, blinking up at the harsh sun. Gosh, why was it so bright? What if it burned her retinas out? What if she went blind?
What if ... ?
"No, they don't look weird," she replied. "They're just bright." She swallowed and looked away, twiddling her thumbs and thinking. "And, um, I just noticed, and I thought something was wrong with me but um."
"It's good there isn't? I guess? Right?"
She looked jerkily at him, frowning. Good? Sure? Oh who cared. His last words made her almost scornful, and she took a few steps away, heading for the lake. After a few steps she slowed down, wincing as sand gave under foot. After a long time she looked down.
The ground was still there.
Okay. So far so good.
Asher looked at the lake, then up. Wasn't there something with the tides and how the moon controlled them? Even though it was early in the day, she could see a little crescent moon off to one side. The moon was rise up and bring the waves with it.
And drown both of them.
"Does the water look .. moving. I mean. Like it's moving. Too you?"
