April showers bring May flowers, or so the saying goes.
But this was no shower. It was a full out thunderstorm, complete with the gusts of wind, the lightning and the thunder. And, for some unknown reason, Cealla walked around the crypts. She didn't mind the rain, even though her coat was soaked through and through. Even though reason told her that she should be somewhere else, doing something else.
Like plotting how someday, she was going to rule the forest. Someday, when she was bigger and stronger.
Grrrr. All she needed to do was grow up a little faster, so she wasn't just this grown woman in a pathetic little girl's body. She'd seen more of death in her two years of life than most had seen in a lifetime, but yet she wasn't insane (or so she believed). Hence wandering around a bunch of dead bodies didn't particularly bother her; in her eyes it was just another place to explore.
Climbing up on top of a large tombstone, she surveyed the surrounding area through the rain. The wind was blowing so hard that the rain was almost falling sideways, making it hard for her to see very far. Nothing but tombstones, all dreary and worn from weather and time, virtually nothing of interest to a young pup such as herself. She was just about to climb down when she spotted a figure off in the distance, coming towards her.
She really wasn't in the mood for confrontation, even though it was doubtful that the figure (person?) could even see her. Not wanting to take any chances, she jumped down and slipped between the bars of a nearby crypt. Little paws stretched out at she crouched down low, trying to be as invisible as possible.
