Annoyed at having been interrupted, it had taken alot of self-control for Willow not to rip Malachy's balls off and shove them down his throat.
So.
After a few days, she'd gone looking again. Hopefully the idiot Slytherin wouldn't come down here, where he had no real business being, and butt in.
Then again, there was no guarenteeing Romulus would even be in the Crypt.
Surely he wanted to talk to her? Didn't he?
The lycan strode across the grounds. It was a little past ten at night now. Glancing around, she slipped into the Crypt. And sighed.
It was empty.
At least, it smell empty. Willow groaned and slumped down in the floor among the bones and dust. Where was he? Pale eyes taking in the depressingly empty Crypt, she wondered if she should look somewhere else.
What the hell. She could hang out for the night. Surely Romulus would come by sometime that night...Just to check things out. Wouldn't he? Hopefully.
It wasn't quite in the vampire's fancy to hang around the dead. They may have themselves been afflicted with that everlasting state of being, but their whole existences revolved around being 'friendly' with the living. Therefore, a nice street in Drakborough like the other night might've been a better place to find a vampire, or perhaps the banks of the Lake.
But why go looking for a predator where there wasn't any prey?
Fortunately for Willow, the particular vampire she was looking for did enjoy the company of the dead. Though Romulus knew there was no productivity to be had in visiting that famous mage's Crypt, it was like a mortal attending a religious service. Nothing became of it, but it made him feel a bit more at peace.
"You know that really isn't all that hygienic," Romulus said with a bored tone in his voice, "rolling around in the dust." The vampire was standing at the entrance, his features as eerily unchanging as they always were. "But then I suppose you do live in a Forest, so I can't imagine it gets much cleaner there either."
Romulus smirked, "so how did that friend of yours get along?"
Say goodbye As we dance with the Devil tonight Don't you dare look at him in the eye As we dance with the Devil tonight
"It's not hygenic to sleep in a dusty tomb either," Willow replied quickly, looking up at him with grateful eyes. Okay. Much better. She could feel better about everything, knowing she wasn't the worst lycan.
Okay, so she hadn't really found him.
Anyway.
"Malachy?" Willow scowled. "Lessy wanted to eat him, but I told him not to. Although I'm not entirely sure why."
The lycan pushed herself up off the Crypt floor and took in his appearance. He looked...okay. Better than the first time she'd met him, starving and gaunt. Much better. She herself was dusty from the floor, and from running around in the woods, but she was okay.
"I assume you know a Shade is pissed at you. Or at least somebody is." She quirked a brow. Her look was mildly accusing. She'd given it more thought.
They shared fault 50-50. And Felix had about two hundred percent of the blame. Willow rubbed her silver-scarred arm.
"Touche," Romulus said, the smirk never fading from his face. The vampire seemed to ponder what she had said as his eyes grew more introspective and the muscles in his face began to relax, before finally outright saying, "Lessy? You mean...Leseur? Follet? So you know him, do you?" It was obvious, of course. All Lycans knew each other. It was part of being what they were.
The next thing she said, however, made the vampire almost laugh. At the very least his face clenched and his smirk reappeared, "oh him? Yes, yes, that's old news. He tried coming after me personally, but I cleaved his arm from his shoulder and smashed his sorcerer's tool. I would've let him go after that, but then I heard that he had harmed you, so I gave him a few more hits."
His eyes grew somewhat wider as he looked at the lycan, "so...you're okay, right? He didn't hurt you too bad, did he? If I had known, I...well, either way, he sure won't forget anytime soon not to mess with me and my...with me. He'll know not to mess with me."
Say goodbye As we dance with the Devil tonight Don't you dare look at him in the eye As we dance with the Devil tonight
"Oops. Yeah. Leseur. Sorry. Orca got me calling him that," Willow said, flushing slightly. A grin appeared on the lycans face, but it faded as he spoke. Her voice was cold when she spoke, and she was rather pale. She rubbed her arm again. The lycan was wearing wizard robes, to hide the scars. She didn't want Romulus freaking out about them.
Except she wasn't a hundred percent sure he would have freaked out over them.
He stumbled a little over his words. Romulus. Stumbled. Yeah, he would be pissed.
"Um...Well. He got me and Felix...it was nothing big...He sliced Felix up pretty bad though. Got me a little bit." She danced around admitted she still had Tiberius faintly written on her abdomen. A slight rippled went through her petite body. "Nothing really. Really."
She was tripped over her words too. The lycan was touched he was really worried about her. She could pracitcally smell it on him, and his eyes flickered slightly. Willow had a warm feeling in her chest.
Of course she knew Orca too. Goodness that was awkward. If the topic of Romulus ever came up between the two of them...the vampire didn't want to consider it. He considered to himself quietly as he listened to Willow explain what had happened. Then there was Felix.
"I see, well, God of Evil or whatever he seems to think he is obviously wasn't trying hard enough to lure me out if he focused all his torture on the sorcerer boy," the vampire remarked in a dignified fashion, as if he were remarking on a misplayed move in a sport. "But it's good that he didn't harm you, I mean...that much, anyway."
The vampire nodded, a neutral expression on his face, "it's good that he failed to accomplish what he desired...and that you're all right."
Say goodbye As we dance with the Devil tonight Don't you dare look at him in the eye As we dance with the Devil tonight
Oh goody, he didn't press the subject. She didn't want a raging Romulus on her hands. Paws. Whatever. Willow held her breath for a moment, her voice barely above a whisper.
"He might come back."
She grimaced, showing the tips of her canines. Her eyes flickered up to his face. Her expression softened slightly. Dammit, why did there have to be so many freaking people she didn't want to backstab? Willow wondered if she could manage what Roan had done, leaving the pack and going out on her own.
Probably not. "Thanks, Romulus. I worried...Roan, Talon and Muryllis rescued us....I got locked in the Hospital Wing overnight," she added with a scowl. "But..yeah."
"How's....your 'child'? That Slytherin girl?" Willow asked, trying to smile. "She okay? I didn't mean to jump at her like that....I thought she was going to kill Shadonious."
Her eyes expressed her unhappiness at the thought of how that night had gone. Ugh. At least she'd gotten things cleared up with Shadonious. Finally.
Romulus's face visibly hardened at the name of Roan. No matter how many times he'd been forced to hear about her in the past few months, the mentioning of the fire-wielding lycan was never any easier to hear. This reflected itself in not only his change of expression, but in an increased coldness of demeanor in the vampire.
"Talon and Muryllis, hm? The names these mages take never cease to amaze me," Romulus said with a light sneer, "and they forced you to stay there as their prisoner, hm? So much for a rescue." The vampire seemed to calm down from his sudden bout of anger after saying this, but the mention of his elder daughter brought it right back.
"Slytherin girl?" Romulus said defensively, "still haven't gotten over those human connections of yours yet, hm? What she was is unimportant. Also, I have no idea who this Shadonious person you speak of is...are they lycan? Or they another of your wand waving friends?"
Say goodbye As we dance with the Devil tonight Don't you dare look at him in the eye As we dance with the Devil tonight
Haha. Sometimes she forgot how much he disliked Roan. Not really. They loathed each other. Willow grinned at him as he went into another semi-episode about her 'human connections'.
"Yes, Shadow is one of my 'wand-wielding' friends. I sired his uncle by accident-" She looked sharply at him. "Really an accident Anyway. I'll have you know Fenrir is having us give up our 'humanity'. Or something like that. I probably shouldn't give you any details. Besides."
Her glance turned mischevious. "You can't tell me some teenie, tiny part of you isn't human. Isn't it human to err? I get the feeling it's a big 'err' for us to....whatever it is we've got."
Willow sighed softly, glancing at him from half-lidded eyes. Her eyes glittered like chunks of silver-veined jade. "Anyway. You didn't answer my question. Is....whatever-her-name-is alright or not?"
"I don't necessarily agree with that," Romulus said casually, a coy smile coming to his pallid features, "but then again that is testament to the fact that I am no longer a man. You see, to make mistakes is all relative. After all, who calls them mistakes? To err is to go against the will of the authority. Whether this be your Prince, your God, or your own code of morality."
The vampire slid out of the doorway where he had been standing up until this point, and took a few steps towards the lycan. "Everything about me that seems human: the looks, the words, the emotions, all of it is just a facade, something that helps me feed. You too take the form of a human so as to keep your sentient mind and make you a superior predator to the common wolves that roam the forest. But we are not man. We are beasts."
His eyes connected with her half-lidded ones, their piercing silver gaze as powerful as ever, "and true predators do not accept subservience as humans do. I have never erred since I became what I am, for I have no prince, I have no god, and I have no morality. I simply am what I am, and I will continue to survive as I do until my last sunset."
The vampire's voice grew softer, more deadly, "if to err is to be human, and to err is to be weak, then to be human is to be weak, Willow. Remember that."
Say goodbye As we dance with the Devil tonight Don't you dare look at him in the eye As we dance with the Devil tonight
Willow just shook her head, grinning at him. Her eyes flickered with a number of emotions. Amusement. Confusion. Alot of stuff. She didn't know what to go to. "I don't know what to do with you," she said, the tips of her canines showing through her smile. A reminder that, as Romulus put it, she was a beast. "I get it, alright? I'm a monster." Her gaze hardened slightly.
"You don't have to tell me that anymore. I'm not gonna say I enjoy killing, but I enjoy the rest of it." The grin returned, and she shed her solemn expression as easily as she shifted. She liked his company, even if she paid for it later. It didn't matter. She might as well have fun on the ride, even if the end was a little...messy. Willow pulled the wizard robes tighter around her. "We can all pretend, can't we? I'm not lying to myself anymore. I just like to keep up the show for everyone else's benefit."
Her eyes flashed violently, the color of silver. No human could do that. His voice sent a shiver through her body, and Willow hugged her arms over her chest, holding her ground. Willow didn't doubt that, if it came to it and the reasons were right, he would kill her. She wondered if she would do the same, if she could. Probably not. Willow could barely forgive herself for attacking Erin, nevermind for killing someone.
She'd done that though. She'd been down that road. He still wasn't answering her question, so apparently it was a touchy subject. The lycan sighed softly. "So all dramatics out of the way....How are you?"
He was a vampire prince, how was he supposed to be? Content? Threatened? Romulus said he had taken care of the Shade. Maybe, for awhile, the threats were over. Willow felt a pang. There was alot Fenrir was doing. If it ever came down to a battle, Willow didn't know who she would go to. Romulus vs. Fenrir. She decided not to think about it.
