It was cold and a frost lay on the yellowed grass causing it to look white under the pale moonlight. Voices whispered as the world swam before Kyler's eyes. "Come on. She's dead and if she isn't she will be before the sun comes up." It was a deep, gruff voice which spoke. Kyler lazily looked around and saw two black figures retreating into the darkness. She tried to groan, to make any sound, but she could not and thus could not gain the attention of the silhouettes as they faded into the night.
She wasn't sure how long she laid there before she passed out, but when she awoke the sky was a dusty grey and she could suddenly feel again. Before she had been numb, perhaps from shock, but now the pain flooded her veins from head to toe and caused Kyler to cringe, even gasp. The sound was abrasive. Air rushing from her lungs hurt like sandpaper running against the soft muscle. Longer she lay on the ground staring at the grass and the far off horizon where the grey sky turned to blue and was then consumed by a bright white glow. The sun was rising right in her vision.
Kyler closed her eyes against the light, but then restlessness overcame her and she opened her eyes again so she could see her surroundings as she tried to sit up. Ever muscle protested in unison as she shifted her weight and tried to push herself up. She grunted as her right arm shook and gave out under her. She hit the ground with a thud and an "Oomph." She tried again, more slowly, more cautiously. She managed to sit up, but her head spun. Carefully she inched her way backward until her back hit cold stone. She shivered, becoming aware of the chill in the air as well as the chill of the rock. Her jeans were wet from the dew, or so she thought until she looked down.
Blood covered her jeans, her shirt, her arms. Was it hers? She hurt enough, but there seemed to be too much. If it were all hers she would certainly be as dead as those figures last night had expected if not more so. Was it someone elses then? That was the only thing which made sense and the thought sickened her for a moment. She tried to think of whose blood it could be. Who had she fought with? What happened last night to leave her in such a state?
'Sebastian...'
Where was Sebastian? He would know - right? He always knew. Mainly because he was always with her. He was always... where was Sebastian? Why wasn't he there with her? Kyler struggled to stand, but a pain in her chest made her cry out. It was more than that though. Some other pain found it's way into her scream as she sank back down and clutched her chest. Warm sticky liquid clung to her hand. Blood from an open wound over her heart. No - it wasn't open. It was sewn up haphazardly, but sewn nonetheless. She stared at it inquisitively until her eyes could no longer focus.
Her stomach churned unhappily for reasons unknown to the redhead. Whatever the reasons though they worked magic to make her ill and that was all that mattered at the moment. She tried once again to stand, but her knees buckled under her and she fell backwards. Her head hit the stone she could not see and Kyler cried out again before she slumped back onto the grass, all her efforts wasted. She cursed as she closed her eyes and gave up. Someone would have to come by eventually, right? Or she'd at least have to feel a bit better in time. Something... somehow she'd end up in a better position in time.
For now she'd lay there and try to regain her strength if she could. And brood over where she was and how she got there.
'What have you gotten yourself into this time, Kyler?'
