Joker's Bar has always had a mix of success and slowness of business. However, more than ever this seemed to be the slowest it has ever gotten. Joker could had easily blame this on the other businesses that have been popping up this year, taking money away from his old customers. But, the old man knew that wasn't the major problem, there was a bunch of them.
One thing he knew that was damaging any chances of profits was that Joker drank half of the supplies he buys and his heart of gold won't let him raise prices to make up for losses and it definitely wouldn't allow him to fire his last worker, Selene. He looked around the bar, spotting mostly empty seats. As an old customer strolled into the bar, Joker prepared the man's usual. A glass of his cheapest whiskey, it was all the man could afford. The man sat down and started drinking the glass already prepared for him. Joker knew this will probably be his last customer of the day, all of the other regulars had either came gone or are currently drinking.
He took this opportunity to get some fresh air. Joker took a step outside and looked at the new shops that was competing against his business. The new shops seemed to cater to other needs, like robes for students, quidditch gear for anyone who wanted to play quidditch, a wand shop and a few other shops. Then he saw the most scariest thing he had ever saw. He knew now that his business was in true jeopardy and once again it was his fault.
No, it wasn't an opposing bar or a new fancy restaurant, it was a candy shop. Could this be the final blow to the business? Of course it wouldn't take away many customers, but it could take away money, Joker's money. He can never say no to anything sugary, rather it be baked goods or candy. Thoughts streamed through the mind of the bar owner, How much can I sell this business for? How much candy could I buy with the money? He quickly shook the thoughts way, because he knew it wouldn't be fair for his customers or Selene. He did made a note, however, if business picks up and he is left with extra cash, to visit the candy shop.
Joker walked back inside, brushing shoulders with a customer who was leaving. He took his station back behind the bar, watching as another customer left. Small talk with the cheap whiskey drinking man kept him awake, as did a few shots of the same cheap whiskey. If Joker was picky with his drinks, he would of surely of spat the revolting drink out.
