The stench of liquor and humans filled her senses as she entered the bar, overwhelming her briefly. Faith drew in a deep breath, shaking off the sick feeling that was forming in the pit of her stomach. It was senseless to avoid humans, they were everywhere, she just accepted that now, despite her inner wolf begging otherwise. Letting her crystalline eyes scan the patrons within the bar, Faiths shoulders slumped slightly. No Ray tonight.
Faith pushed past her disappointment and made her way to the bar, ordering a beer as she settled on a stool. A low thrum of loneliness had settled deep within her chest, and Faith had hoped seeing the other lycan would help battle that off. Faith was, by no means, a lone wolf. No aspect of her enjoyed it, being without a pack. Even during her travels Faith aligned herself with other lycans, other wolves even. Now she was afraid to step too far on the line, afraid she might do something to backtrack her progress with Rayne. They hadn’t spoken of Ray’s alliances when they met up, so until Ray made it clear to her, Faith planned to remain impartial, locked away from the rest of the lycans.
Drumming her fingers on the bar top, Faith wondered briefly if it would be out of line to make friends with a human. Better not, just in case. Taking a long swig of her beer, the brunettes eyes glossed over slightly, thinking back on her days with her pack. The days where she only had to walk out her door and her family would surround her. Eyes fluttering shut, she inhaled deeply, and swore she could still pick up that familiar scent. That feeling of warmth, of being welcomed unconditionally. It sent a shudder up her spine, as she sat there letting her imagination run wild, let her brain trick herself into thinking she was home.
With a sigh, Faith came back to reality, eyes opening and peering around her. She wasn’t home. She was in a bar surrounded by humans. She didn’t have a home anymore even if she did go back, all her fellow lycans had moved on, leaving their den behind, unguarded, uninhabited. Not home. Her chest felt tight, thinking about the loss. Maybe someday she would get the chance to reacquaint herself with her pack mates, to be able to call a place home again. DERP!
