IC: The sun was dieing in the western sky as Artemis Fowl II Willow the Lycan and herself stood at the top of the hill at the entrance to the Quidditch pitch. Ashelle had just offered Willow a ride on Artemis, but she'd apparently not made it clear that she wished Willow to ride with her.
"Erm," said Ashelle. It wasn't that she doubted Willows abilities or anything, but she wasn't sure how Artie would react if she were on the ground watching while Willow rode. He was sensitive for a Winged Horse -most Thestrals were- but also, the last thing she wanted was for something to go wrong 100 feet in the air.
"Well," said Ashelle considering, " ok you can steer but just keep in mind Artemis will respond to the slightest touch and is very strong. I will hold on to you from the back - I don't want Artemis to feel like I am not with him - nor do I want to be left behind."
Ashelle held out a hand to Willow to give her a hand up onto the Thestral's back.
The lycan noted her friend's expression and snickered under her breath. Ashelle was in for a surprise. Willow had raced with her cousin, Seth, and with Lynn a thousand times, at much more dangerous speeds than Artie had run earlier. And on more dangerous grounds. Pushing her hair out of her eyes, Willow took a step forward, listening to Ashelle's warnings.
Willow tried not to chuckle. Horses were her thing. She took Ashelle's hand and jumped up onto Artemis's back, letting her hands grip the reins. Freedom from the ground, for a little while. She waited a beat, letting herself relax, then clicked her tongue. Artemis snorted once, pawed the ground, and broke into a trot, and at a nudge of Willow's heels, moved into a faster gait.
Surprisingly, the ride was rather smooth. She had expected it to be much bumpier, as Thestrals were scarecly more than skin and bones. But Artemis cantered, and at Willow's urging, spread his wings out alongside him. They beat once, twice, and then Willow realized they were a good height off the ground.
It was fantastic. The wind blew everything away, all worries, everything. The lycaness, formerly a Quidditch fanatic and still in love with the game, glanced down at the rapidly falling away game.
"This is AMAZING!" Willow said. She whooped, loud and long, turning the Thestral to the left. The fifty foot hoops were another good fifty feet below them, putting them at least a hundred feet up. Awesome. Willow glanced back at her passenger and friend. "Can I dive him?" she asked. That had been one of her thrills, rising the broom to a crazy height and then diving, almost hitting the ground before pulling out of it.

(OOC: Did you mean the Pitch? If there was a actual game Ashelle would be playing in it. She is/was Junior Captain)
Ashelle had hung on securely to Willow while the rode Artie into the sky. The wind blew her long curly hair and school robe behind her. This was the life! Ashelle had never regretted getting a second Thestral, not even when doing double the mucking out. The Atremis's were her friends and companions and despite being different speieces neither had ever tried to eat Raiku the Malamute or Vivienne Tenahu the Barn Owl.
When Willow asked about diving with Artemis II, Ashelle thought quickly about it. She hadn't dived Artemis in a while and he probably needed the practice. "Ok, just make sure you're gentle when you guide him back up, Horses aren't brooms you know." Ashelle held on somewhat tighter, now that she's witnessed Willow's skills she decided it might be a prudent course of action.
ooc- No, I meant game. Willow is in love with the game of Quidditch, but there isn't one going on right now.
bic-Of course he wasn't a broom, she'd already discovered the extent of his...moveability. He didn't turn very quickly at all, and she didn't try to make him. Feeling Ashelle tighten her grip, Willow couldn't help but laugh. After a beat of flying level, she nudged Artemis down.
In a dive, the Thestral quickly gained speed. She'd have to calculate it, keep him from crashing. He didn't turn up as quick as the broom, as Ashelle had said, so....Holy hell, they were going fast. The threat of a crash made Willow more sensitive than her lycan-senses already made her.
A good twenty feet up, she started edging Artemis back to level flight. The Thestral screamed, an eerie sound that she wasn't sure anyone could hear. Then it occured to her how weird this must look to anyone watching. Not many people had seen someone die, so therefore, not many people could actually see the flying creature.
That threw her into a fit of giggles as they swept across the ground, Artemis's hooves barely missing the ground. The Thestral tossed its head and came to land on the grass, but he wasn't tired. At least, he didn't look..tired to her. Willow urged him into another run and off he went, back into airborne.
"Regretting letting me have the reins?" Willow asked Ashelle, grinning wolfishly.

Ashelle grinned back. "No, not regrets. He will let you know when he's had enough, and I trust you not to overwork him. Sounds to me like he's having fun." I might be walking him for a good hour and a half to cool him down but at least he'll have had his fun. thought Ashelle. Her cheeks glowed from the cool of the coming night. If anything she was just a bit worried about getting back to the castle in time. She supposed she could always spend the night in the barn if she had to. Ashelle tried to not think of what might happen if a dangerous magical creature payed her a visit while she was in the barn. Don't worry, she reminded herself, you are on school grounds and for all you know you will make it in time to get to your Dorm room unchallenged.
Ashelle relaxed a bit that this reminder, and enjoyed the wind in her hair and the sunset in the west. She pat Artemis on the flank, to tell him she was still with him. He let out another odd sound -softer this time- as if in appreciation of the reassurance. "Say Willow, has Fenrir said anything about Marc being gone? My family rescued him on my request a few months ago. I don't want Fenrir to be mad at him for going. It was really the only way I could think of to save him from the BFC in that situation."
"I won't," Willow assured Ashelle, pressing the left rein to Artemis's neck. The Thestral turned obligingly with a snort, a strange sound to hear from the boney snout. Only one thing troubled the lycan about the whole thing. Thestrals could only be seen if the...seer had seen someone die. Willow, through her own actions, had caused a death, and seen it happen. Who had Ashelle seen die?
Curiousity was Willow's biggest...flaw, one could suppose. Suicidaly curious, someone had said. Sooner or later, she would find out, but if Ashelle wanted to keep it quiet, that was the Gryffindor's business. Willow wondered when Quidditch tryouts would be held. She would have tried out, if she had the ability to fly a broom anymore. Fact was, she didn't. Willow had tried with her own broom, which she had buried near her den, in it's case.
"I don't think Fenrir minds...If he was mad, I think he'd let you know," Willow said without looking back. Fenrir tended to make his thoughts known. "And I wouldn't have worried about the BFC getting Marc in the woods...Lycans are not the only baddies in the woods, you know. "
She almost wanted to laugh. That was true, and the lycans were bad news for most people. Fenrir, who'd tear anyone apart who harmed anything in his woods, or even a trespasser. Willow had discovered she too could lose control, she had solid proof of that. The lycan wondered what Erin did when she disappeared..She worried about him sometimes. He, like her, was curious, a former Ravenclaw himself. He'd probably visit the Castille if something there caught his interest. She hoped not. The vampires would eat him alive, literally..
Artemis, at Willow's instruction, began a downward glide until he came to stop in the grass of the pitch, kicking up dirt and lumps of grass. Willow let him come to a stop, and glanced back at Ashelle. "I think I've had my thrill for the evening. Thanks Ashelle."

Ashelle nodded and gave Willow and hand down from Artemis who was -if not exhausted- thoroughly exercised. "You did a great job, if ever you want to help me exercise them again just ask. I am sure they would enjoy being rode together for a change. They play together in the field all the time but when I ride them separately they call to each other . . ." As if on cue Artemis Fowl I whinnied loudly from the school barn. Artemis Fowl II returned the whinny, almost loud enough to hurt the ears for his passengers.
"Ok OK! Hush we can go back in a moment!" She told the Thestral, patting his neck as she scooted forward back into her former place. Ashelle turned to look at Willow to find a intensely curious look on her face. Taking a stab at what might be on her mind Ashelle told her;
"The Shadow War. I was attacked by a Nephlilm, but I escaped thankfully. While I was trying to find my way back to the Hospital Wing via the secret passages I saw many people dieing in the main halls I had to cross." Ashelle paused and looked into her Thestral's mane for a moment as if trying to force the memories away. She pet the mane and then turned back to Willow.
"Once I saw how interesting and beautiful Artemis I was I went and bought Artie II here." She tried to smile but it faded almost as soon as it had shown through. "If you were wondering about something else, out with it! I'm no Legimend!" This made Ashelle smile crookedly and laugh a little. She may not be one -yet, but Aunt Ashlee sure was.
