High in the air, Slytherin Colette Gerard floated up on her brand new broom (the Golden Arrow 3000). For a few seconds, she seemed to just be suspended in the air, but then dove almost straight down, getting as close to the ground as she could.
The high flier was just having fun being out in the crisp air, playing with her brand new broom. It was a bit chilly out, so over her long sleeved-shirt, Colette wore a striped zip-up hoodie. The jeans she wore had a couple small tears in them, but were one of her favorite pairs so she wouldn't get rid of them.
Once more through the air, with a few flips and spins, Colette flew to the ground and leaped off, doing a small roll to keep from injuring herself. To someone else, though, it might have seemed as if she fell off; the ballerina, though, was just having fun being an acrobat! Laying in the grass and staring up at the bright sky, Colette was happy with how things were going; a new guy at school liked her! The first time ever she had positive attention paid to her by a young man; Joseph was very sweet and Colette couldn't wait to see him again.
Sighing with content, the Slytherin realized that she was having a good day. No frustration over people thinking she was a Third Year, no annoyance by people telling her how small she was, as if she didn't know how short and petite she was.DERP!DERP!

It was pretty early, but Willow didn't mind the chilly air; The temperature made her feel a little more alive. Her leg was messing up a little, so the limp was more pronouced and definitely noticeable to anyone paying attention. She had her broom, a battered old Nimbus, over one shoulder, and she was dressed in faded blue jeans with a short-sleeved shirt. Her jacket lay in a crumpled bundle on the bleachers.
She looked up, spotting a petite girl doing complicated broom tricks nearly fifty feet above her. Suddenly, coming out of a spin, she dropped to the ground and lept off the broom, rolling to stop a few yards from Willow. For a moment, the gryffindor felt a pang of alarm; What if she'd hurt herself? But the girl was grinning, staring up at the sky like an idiot. Well, at least someone's having a nice morning, Willow thought, the strange girl's good humor practically radiating from her.
"Nice trick!" Willow called to her, trying to figure out what house she was in. Then she recalled seeing her in the Feasting Hall, with the Slytherins. But there was no telling what year she was in, Willow had long since stopped judging ages by appearance. Willow turned her head at an angle. "You had me worried for a second." It'd been several months since the trip into Fenrir's woods, where the lion student had run into Kesterel, and Sparky had disappeared. Lots had happened since then, and now she was working up the guts to go back.
Today though, she just planned to enjoy herself. And making a new friend wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Jumping out of her skin, Colette sat up and looked at the young woman before her. "Oh, hello!" she exclaimed, popping up to her feet nimbly. "Thank you, I am not 'urt." Colette's English was greatly improving, but her accent was still prominent. "Just trying out my new broom."
Colette glanced at the old broom in the girl's hand before focusing on the young woman who was quite a few inches taller than her. She had seen this young woman before... where was it?... Gryffindor! Happy she remembered, Colette smiled and summoned her broom with her wand. "Shall we fly?" She offered, still a bit surprised that she wasn't the only one up.
Kicking one of her feet on the soft grass, Colette took a deep breath of the crisp air. "I am Colette Gerard," she said, remembering that she had yet to introduce herself. With the surprising happiness the petite young woman was feeling, it was nice to be around another person.

ooc- Is it bad that in my head I can hear Colette speaking in a french accent?
bic- The girl jumped, looking up at Willow with surprise, bringing a smile to the Gryffindor's lips. She half-startled Willow by popping easily to her feet, speaking in good english with a very definite french accent. They looked each other over for a moment, taking in each other's early morning appearance. Willow had seen the broom in the broomstick shop in Drakborough but hadn't had a chance to really inspect it, so for a moment, she scrutinied Colette's.
"Sure, I got up to stretch my legs." Willow was now more comfortable in the air than she was on the ground, due to her limp. She brushed her medium brown hair back behind her, then pulled it back into an untidy ponytail before offering a name. "I'm Willow, Willow Michelle. I like your accent," she added, unsure if that would annoy the Slytherin or not. "I schooled in France for awhile, a few years ago. It's a nice place."
Willow grinned at Colette, and let her broom hover beside her before mounting up, then sat side-saddle to face Colette, revelling in the chilly air that clung to her arms and sent gooseflesh rippling across her lightly tanned skin.

{I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!! Hahaha!}
"Did you attend Beauxbatons?" Colette asked, surprised to hear that Willow Michelle had gone to school in France. A pang of loss shot thought Colette, but it passed quickly; she very much missed her friends, but she knew that life at Firefox was actually going a lot better.
Hopping up onto her own broom Colette hovered a couple inches above the ground which brought her to eye level with Willow. "I believe my English is improving, but I am 'appy you enjoy my accent." It was a sweet thing for Willow to say...
Wait, sweet? Colette was surprised when the word passed through her head and she realized that her attitude was also beginning to change. Instead of constant bitterness, Colette saw that she was beginning to peel away layers of anger and discovering who she was underneath. Away from France, away from her family, Colette Gerard was coming into her own; a dancer, but with a melting heart.
The small smile-- with a bit of timidity-- on Colette's face was genuine; lately, all of her smiles had been so, instead of a false one plastered on for pretenses. Either that, or she would have no smile at all.
Pretty down to her bones... Ivory and wire and pearls...
bic- "Yeah. For two years," she said. "My first year and my second year," Willow explained, a geniune grin on her face. She found Colette charming and interesting, and it was good to meet someone who'd spent time in France as well, and her accent made Willow feel more at home. She hadn't been there long enough to get the language down, but she recalled enough of it that Willow was sure she could get by if she went back. Someday.
Colette rose to eye-level with Willow, sitting in a similar way. "Yes, I do. It reminds me of my years in France. I had a good time." Her english was good, better than some people Willow knew. Willow found the girl was surprisingly cheerful, considering what house she was in. Then again, Rioku was a total nut, so maybe not all Slytherins were like Shadonious and the others Willow had met and befriended. Even Gwen wasn't so bad.
"Where did you live, in France?" Willow asked. "If you don't mind me asking."

"Where did I live?" Colette asked with a grin. "My family 'as multiple 'ouses." It was odd to tell someone this, but Colette was in the mood for being more open. "We 'ave one in Paris as well as a 'ome in ze countryside. Along with zese, we own a 'ome in London."
Wanting to get away from the subject of her extremely wealthy family, Colette thought about France and how Willow missed it. "I attended Beauxbatons until ze end of last year; zis is my first year at Firefox. I will admit to missing France, but I find myself enjoying it 'ere much more, do you agree?"
Floating on her broom, Colette was happy to just be talking with someone without arguing at all. There was not instigation, no annoyance with each other, that Colette began to wish she wasn't in Slytherin. Wouldn't she have been much happier in another House? But, perhaps, she was there for a reason that she was yet to discover.
Pretty down to her bones... Ivory and wire and pearls...
Willow thought about how it would be to have more than one house, and to move between them all the time. It was mind-blowing. "I lived in Tarbes," Willow replied, smiling again, her pale green-grey eyes glittering through loose strands of her hair.
"Beauxbatons was very nice, a little formal considering, but I had a few friends there. We've fallen out of touch though..." Of course we have. Willow hadn't written to any of them, but still had the letter from her best friend in the bottom of her trunk, never replied to. When are you coming to France? Willow had cut all ties with everyone in France, ever her sister, whom up until recently, she had pretended no longer existed. But that was lie.
"I love it here...It's much warmer," Willow said softly, glancing up. "Although you couldn't tell that today!" she added, laughing slightly. She floated backwards slightly. "How fast can that broom go?" Willow was looking at the Arrow again, a challenging glint in her eyes. Basically, she was saying, 'I dare you to race me.' The cold air would probably apprehend Willow, who'd left her coat on the bleachers, but who cared? She needed a good slap of fresh air. She'd spent two weeks inside, brooding, after Kesterel's attack, and two days before that in the Hospital Wing recovering from her injury.

"My friends and I 'ave also fallen out of touch," Colette informed Willow. She shrugged, though and added, "But zere are more people in ze world, ozzers to get to know." As Willow's eyes again settled on Colette's new broom and she couldn't help but grin at the question asked.
"It is very fast," she said, the grin more of a challenge than anything. "Shall we?" As she asked her question, Colette leaned over a little and inched her broom a little higher into the air; the Golden Arrow seemed just as eager as it's rider was to get back into the air. Letting go, Colette pulled her hair out of it's ponytail and ran her fingers through her hair to settle it all a little better before she put it back in.
Tightening the hair tie, she grinned at Willow. "I am always 'appy to show off a little," she teased. Colette hoped Willow would know her words were just a joke.
Pretty down to her bones... Ivory and wire and pearls...
"Many people," Willow agreed, and glanced off to the forest; Tonight. She'd go tonight. Ugh. Mentally, she groaned, dreading a reoccurence of the event a few weeks ago. If Kesterel showed up, Willow was going to use every curse she know on that hag. Unless something else go to her first. Don't think about that, you're here to fly. She musn't let Colette know something was wrong, because if the Slytherin asked questions, Willow would spill about her suicide mission.
Colette rose a few feet up above Willow's head, joking with the lion student, and after a beat, the gryffindor floated up after her, shifting her position from sidesaddle to forward, grinning back. "We'll see. Ready?"
Of course she was ready, it was a golden arrow, that was a stupid question. Willow didn't wait for an answer, and shot forward. She already knew Colette would whip her at a real race, but who cared? The air felt fantastic. The broom was in top condition, even considering it's age, but the wind rattled the twigs a little louder than usual.
