The sky this particular early autumn night was speckled with millions of stars. Each one glimmered and twinkled crisply, but still not over powering the fierce moon that was suspended in the northern sky. Lunar activity was so fascinating to Coralie. How the moon pulled the tide, eclipses, jackal moons, new moons, full moons, and so on. Magical was the only word for it. Coralie's father was a wizard, but a star gazer at heart. Luckily for her, the family owned a telescope and several of the skies wonders were made available to whom ever peered through the eye piece. Coralie and her father were the only ones who took advantage of the sophisticated equipment.
The telescope did not accompany Coralie to her new home, but staring up at the night sky would still be a ritual for her. A cool breeze kissed her skin, and it was the first time all day she had felt comfortable. The steamy weather while she was travel had almost made her ill. Being from a cold environment, she was hardly ready for temperatures in the 80s. The night was a cool one, so Coralie felt in the mood to do some exploring. She had paced around the lake and found her way to a glass made structure just near the edge of the school grounds. The glass shone silver in the moonlight, and she strolled up to the door and tried the handle. Surprisingly, it hadn't been locked, and she pushed it open with a soft shove. Coralie was sure that the herbology teacher would be unset if a student was poking around, but for once, she didn't seem to care what the effects of her actions were at the moment. The sweet smell of various flowers instant filled her nose, and almost made her dizzy. Petals of gold caught her eye by the eastern wall, and she gingerly stepped toward them with a outward stretched hand. Her fingers gently grazed the delicate petals, and released another burst of perfume.
Flowers were scarce in her home land. Rarely did the summer clover and bulbs blossom when the weather was too chilly. She'd never seen such a brilliant flower in all her life. Wishing she could share this lovely plant with her dad the way he shared his love of the night sky, she sighed heavily. Her eyes filled with shimmering tears and she slumped to her knees. A few of the golden petals rained from the plants' abundant stock.
"Home...how I miss it."
