Linus understood that it was unorthodox for a kid his age and in situation to do what he was doing. Sure it was summer and students had thinned out, and nobody really visited the Greenhouse in the middle of the night, but the smell of plants helped him sleep. He didn't have many friends, but then again he had only been at Firefox University of three years.
He was curled up in a sleeping bag with the drawstring pulled tight and a stuffed animal for a pillow. He was as sung as a bug in a rung. No more than an hour ago did it start to rain. The sound of rain hitting the glass mind Linus euphoric. He clicked on a small light aimed for his face. Linus was only fourteen and entitled to have a night light. He closed his eyes. Linus smiled and snuggled in deep into his makeshift bed. Everything was perfect.
Linus jumped as the heavens cracked and a bolt pierced the night sky. He sat up and crawled out of his sleeping bag. His stomach had a dark twisting feeling and felt more sunken that the Lily-like flower next to him. He noticed it moaning and shaking as if it was a scared. So was Linus. Storms never scared him, the thunder had surprised him but the feeling stayed. The hair on the back of his neck crawled and his eyes narrowed. The ran short tan fingers through his short blond hair. Something was up.
The skin crawled on his back and he stepped over to the moaning lily and stroked it petals. In a weak voice he reassured himself and it, "Don't worry. It's just the storm". He wasn't very convincing, but he had to at least try. He grabbed the Lily by it's pot and set it down next to his things. "You can sleep with me tonight, " He said with loving eyes. He and the plant would accompany eathother during the storm.
"Yeah, everything's fine".DERP!
