OoC: First post for Shady! After that, have ye at it!
BiC: Lethe sat, alone, in a corner of the greenhouses. Something strange was happening to her. She was remembering things. Her arms were wrapped around her legs, pulling them tight to her, encased as they were in her lime green cargos. Her upper body was clad in a thick, cableknit, black, turtleneck sweater, not really warm enough for the outside temperature, but much too warm for the greenhouses. Her thumbs poked through holes in the sleeves, which she'd made for that purpose.
She was trying to sort through her memories, one by one, and process them, but they had all come rushing at once, and the Grecian had ducked into the greenhouses, where she was likely to be left alone, since the place was pretty much deserted. Her vision blurred somewhat, and she became aware that she was crying. Putting her head down on her knees, her long, black hair covered most of her like a cloak.

Sprinting down the slope of the grounds, Shadow laughed to himself. Hell, there was no way he was going shopping with Gwen, not around Christmas. Skidding lightly on the frosty ground, he glanced back for signs of those he had been running from.
Sighing, he slowed his steps, purposly heading for the safe hiding of the greenhouses. Hmm, already taken. He mused with a smirk, intending to move on. Realising who it was, he hesitated, backtracking and approaching the crying girl. "Lethe?" Cocking his head to one side, Shadow sat down infront of her, brushing the younger girl's hair from her face. "Hey, c'mon, don't cry...Tell Shady what's wrong?"
Oh, no. He would be the one to find her, wouldn't he. She was embarrassed enough that she was crying, something she almost never did (you had no reason to cry if you couldn't remember what made you sad). The fact that she remembered precisely who he was just made things worse. Sniffling, she looked up to him, and wiped her eyes with her sleeve.
"I wasn't crying. I have a cold that made my eyes water and my nose run. I came in here to see if being warmer would make me feel better," she lied. It was a plausible excuse, the dungeons were terribly cold this time of year. She wasn't sure she'd entirely convinced him though. The Mediterranean girl sniffled again, she wasn't sure what she'd say if he accused her of lying.
What could she say then? 'Oh, don't mind me. I'm the offspring of a nephilim and a witch, born with the power to make people forget things. Which power causes me to lose my own memories too. I was only crying becuase suddenly I started remembering things again.'? Oh, she was sure that'd go over real well.
Suddenly, one of her new memories came to the forefront of her brain. Her sick mother had recently took a turn for the worse. Perhaps, if he pressed the issue, she could explain her tears that way. She felt a little cramp in her leg, and had to stand up. Doing so, a piece of balled up parchment fell out of her pocket, and rolled across the dusty floor of the greenhouse towards Shadow. If she remembered correctly, that was the letter her adoptive father, Andio, had sent to her and Synie, explaining about their mother. "Could I have that back, please?" the Grecian asked Shadow.

"Not so happy to see me, eh?" Shadow shot her a mock-offended look. The teen sighed, not really knowing what to do when another cried. Azreallia had approached him after four years of no contact, weeping happily, and he had pushed his sister away, telling her to find someone else to cry upon. He wasn't good in situations like this.
Nodding with a sympathetic smile, even though he wasn't convinced, he wasn't intending to pry on her privacy. "Yeah, the cold weather must be kinda' new to you," he spoke quietly.
Looking down as the ball of parchment rolled towards him, the serpent-teen stared at it for a moment before slowly picking it up. Curiousity set in, his fingers delicatly un-balling it. He caught himself at her words, glancing at her sheepishly. "Sorry," he handed the parchment back to Lethe. "You sure, you havn't got something else bothering you?"
Lethe snatched the parchment out of his hands, and shoves it deep into a pocket. Had he read it? Had he seen the words? She went over them now in her mind:
Dear Girls,
I regret to inform you that your mother's health seems to be deteriorating. She is now permanently bed-ridden, and can no longer speak to me. I'd love for you to come and see her, because I think it would do her some good. However, her doctor does not agree. He thinks that I should leave you where you are, for both your own and your mother's good. I shall send for you at once if there is any change in her condition. All my love to you both.
Your Father, Andio
No, she did not wish to discuss it. How could he understand? Two weeks ago, she did not remember that she had a mother, but now, she was remembering everything. She knew it would not be long before her mother was gone. No, she did not ever want to talk about that. However, it was obvious that she was upset, so she had only one option. She had to lie. She had to come up with some stupid, teenage reason for her tears.
After a moment of thought, she had it. It would be something that he prolly wouldn't want to talk about, and so, he'd drop the conversation. "Alright, you caught me. I'm not sick. It's just...." she stopped, and turned away, her curtain of black hair shining in the light. So, she was playing it a bit melodramatic, nothing wrong with that, right? "It's just that there's this boy I like, and I can't get him to notice me at all. I think he might like someone else, but I can't figure out who. I'm sorry, you don't need to hear all this. But I thought, since you're friends with him, you might be able to see if maybe he likes me a little bit. I can't ask Toshiya something like that. Do you know if he has a girlfriend?" She turned back towards Shadow, her brown eyes now tearless, and staring into his blue ones.

Lethe quickly snatched back the parchment, much to Shadow's suprise. He'd only seen a few words, and the ones he'd read hadn't exactly made sense when put together. He looked down sheepishly, "Sorry."
Do you know if he has a girlfriend?"
Shadow froze, he mouth opened slightly as he tried to gather the information. Okay, so at first, he'd thought maybe she was being overdramatic, seeing her turn away. Perhaps not. "I-er, no. I don't know if he has a girlfriend..."
Great, so she also liked him. The serpent suddenly became aware of her eyes staring into his. "I don't think he has a...girlfriend. So its all free for you."
Actually, knowing that Toshya, who she really did like didn't have a girlfriend, made her feel a little better. Not to mention that most of her memories had settled down. She was so relieved by both of these things that she forgot herself momentarily, and ebraced Shadow. "Thank you. I really needed to hear that."
She released him. "Actually, there is someone else who I think is cute, but I know for a fact that he's seeing someone. Don't worry, you don't know him," she lied, since the other boy was Shadow himself. "He lives on the island I'm from, and he's older than me." She knew it was probably a bad idea to lie, but it wouldn't do anyone any good if she told Shad she liked him. "What do you think would make Toshiya notice me?" she asked.

Shadow tensed slightly as she momentarily embraced him, but put his arm around her shoulder in return of favour. "Good to see you cheering up a bit," he grinned, running a hand through his hair once he was released.
"Wow, you got two guys one your heat? They know about each other?" he grinned, teasing gently. The teen was tempted to say the least. Tempted to say, I think you should go with the Island boy, I mean if you're both from the same place then you have something in common... Tempted, so he could have Toshiya to himself. But, he still classed and prided Lethe as a friend and he - against his morals - would try to be kind to her.
"Hmm," he sighed, resting his head against his palm, "You talk to him much? For a start anyway... I don't know, I always liked mysterious people. Secluded but open at the same time... but then again I ain't Dai - so I'm not too sure."
"Thanks for the advice. It really helped a lot," she said sincerely. Then something occured to her. "But, why are you in the greenhouses? I mean, do you need me to help you with anything? Since we're friend an all, shouldn't I be helping you too?" The sentiment was quite unlike her usual self, but since she would be able to remember things now, she should have friends, right? And Shadow, aside from being cute, seemed like a nice enough guy.

"No problem, okay?" he grinned, hugging his knees and rocking back slightly.
"Hiding. The missus would like, no, wants me to go shopping... fat chance," Shadow laughed, running a hand through his hair and glancing through the glass. It wasn't that he hated the idea of walking around drakborough with Gwen, he'd just rather stay by himself in the dungeons. Singing or something. Besides, he had no money to shop.
