She's been here.
Serenity, invisible to everyone but Seth himself, hovered nearby. She brushed a plant, plucking at the petals. A quirky expression crossed her face, and as she glanced at him, she disappeared. Seth sighed, rubbing the back of his head.
"Here, there, all over the place, why can't you tell me where she is now?" Seth snapped, eyes flashing with irritation. There was a sigh that sent dead leaves spiraling to the ground. He glanced around but didn't see the mysterious creature anywhere. One of the plants mimicked the sound, then let out a fit of giggles. He cursed under his breath, a stream of words and broken syllables.
Today was one of Seth's bad days. Having left the school for a good while, his return had left his mind irritated, confused. Willow obviously didn't go to school here anymore.
"Kill the mockingbird," he muttered, shadowing it with a laugh, a sound with joy. He wrapped pale, long fingers around a bar that fenced in some of the other plants and stared into nothing. An off humming emitted from pursed lips. Traitors, liars, all of them. Someone had to know something but who? Doth the golden bird cry?

A tall boy entered the room, carrying a rather large doll. The boy and doll were both dressed in robes, both Hufflepuff. The two had come to the greenhouse to look for ingredients with which to enchant new dolls. The string had to be created by itself, which was difficult, too difficult.
String, yes. A thin red string tied to the fingers of the boy and the doll. Both ends of the string were tied to someone's right hand. Of course, it was this string that allowed the master to control the puppet.
"Why can't you tell me where she is, now?"
Kenji jumped at the sudden outburst. That was unexpected. After all, the mandragoras were on the other side of the room... He rushed over to the sound.
"Are... are... are you okay?"
He looked genuinely worried about the new boy. Granted, the two were new here, themselves, so they probably couldn't help the boy, but still it was only the right thing to ask...
"Do you need help?"

Seth spun. He hadn't heard anyone come in. What the hell was that? He stared at both the boy and the puppet, wondering if he were seeing things again.
It wouldn't be the first time.
He won't be any help, Serenity mumbled, still invisible. Seth knew she was, but he glanced up anyway, as if expecting to see her sitting on a crate of fertilizer or at his shoulder, smirking at him.
Flushed, Seth rubbed his cold hands together. "Yeah, I'm fine."
He gestured around uselessly. "Someone said I might be able to find someone here. But ... there isn't anyone here." He shrugged.
"It doesn't matter ...." He took a few steps, and a smile flitted over his face. He trusted Serenity enough to not bother to ask this character. After a moment's hesitation, Seth held out one hand to the puppet.
"I'm Seth."
The frosted panes of the greenhouse were clearing up as the heat inside warmed them. Somewhere a lily giggled and laughed hysterically.
"Kill the mockingbird!" One cried hoarsely, doubled up. Seth scowled in their direction. Little creeps. 971

Seth nodded in understanding, a little disappointed. It had been his shot at being friendly. Even though it was just a puppet, he smiled at her.
"That's fine."
He paused, wondering how much to tell his strange new acquaintance. It really didn't require much explanation at all.
"Hello, Asa. Kenji." The Gryffindor glanced around, likely checking to see if one of those bratty little flowers were listening. They were worse than fairies about that sometimes, spewing out secrets.
"Its my cousin," he said, looking dejected. "She doesn't know I'm here, and if you see her, you can't tell her." Seth grinned. "Its a surprise."
What had she looked like the last time he'd seen her? "Brown hair, kind of ... messy all the time. Green eyes. She was in Gryffindor, but I haven't seen her, so I think maybe she's dropped out."
With a shrug and a sigh, Seth let it go. "I'll find her, I guess. But if you see her around, could you send me a message? Every time someone says they've seen her somewhere ...." He gestured around the empty greenhouse. "She's already long gone."
You just didn't get here fast enough, Serenity scolded, hiding somewhere. 971

"Oh?" Kenji asked, as though there were some doubt, though not even close to a lot. Really, though, it seemed possible, and in fact quite likely.
But, how was he supposed to find this person without a name. Perhaps he could even talk to her without her knowing about this conversation, and report back. Kenji looked around the room briefly. There were annoying sounds, but they were of no consequence. It seemed like this man would be a pretty good friend.
Of course, why should he mind his own business? After all, it's not like anyone liked him much, anyways. Well, anyone that didn't belong in a pretty white coat and a padded room. Kenji repeated to Seth to make sure, "Brown hair, kinda messy, green eyes and a Gryffindor? Well, if I see someone like that, I'll tell you."
And then that was it... There wasn't any more to say... Why were there always these awkward pauses when people are talking to each other? After the silence festered a bit, he continued, as though to be less awkward than he was...
"Err... What do you... like to... err... do?"

Seth nodded as the kid echoed him. Sure, he probably looked like a lunatic - a name might be helpful, but Seth wasn't sure how helpful. Herm. Oh well. Worry about it later.
What did he like to do?
How utterly random.
"Same things everyone does, right?" Seth grinned, shrugged. "Uh. I draw a little. Not so much anymore. Um. Comics."
Wizard comics were the embodiment of hilarity. Some of them - MOST of them moved. It was quite amusing to see a classic superhero sprint through the panels. Once Seth had even had a minor character try to follow through the pages.
Needless to say it hadn't gone very well.
"Where did Asa come from?" he asked curiously. "Has she always been around?"
Seth had been thinking about looking into golems - they were rather odd creatures. He wasn't even sure if they really existed ...

"Comics..." Kenji repeated, as if trying to grasp for something he knew about to deal with comics... It wasn't like Kenji read comics very often, or even at all. Most of the time he had free, he spent reading books. Good books. What was there to say? I mean, it's not like he asked Kenji about puppetry or any--
"Where did Asa come from? Has she always been around?"
That was certainly an interesting question. After a moment of what looked like deep thought on Kenji's part, he finally spoke on the matter.
"My father made my doll for me. He used to hold puppet shows every day. You should see him, sometime. His name is Akio Hayakawa. He travels around a lot, so he might come to Drakborough sometime." Kenji's eyes lit up as he talked about him. It was as though the subject were one of the few things he actually knew very well, almost like a normal person talking about a celebrity, "He taught me everything I know, and he said I'm pretty good for my age!"
