History: Tristan Agravain Pellinore Pendragon was born the only son of Yoseph Pendragon and his wife Belladonna on the Pendragon Estate in England. Arthur's line had supposedly been passed down through the centuries from father to son, and while there were at least two males within his father's generation, he was the only one in his own. As such, Tristan was heir presumptive to the duties of running the House of Pendragon.
Tristan was taught from a young age the history of his family, and he was forced to academically examine the Arthurian legends as if they were history. Nothing was pushed on him more than the Quest for the Holy Grail. It had long been the goal of the Pendragon family to find it, not only to carry on the quest of the Knights of the Round, but also because finding it would prove the legitimacy of the Pendragon's claim to Arthur's legacy. By Tristan's birth, however, the Pendragons had long since passed off the existence of the Holy Grail as little more than something to tell the children. Ministry politics and actual, physical power and wealth had become more important than an old legend.
Tristan, however, was captured from a young age by the idea of adventure. His great faith and religion first came from knowing that only someone pure and chaste like Sir Galahad could touch the grail, and so he took to embracing Christianity and taking his faith very seriously. He was home-schooled throughout most of his teenage years, taking occassional classes at Beauxbatons Academy in France. When Tristan was 17 and confident in his magical knowledge, he decided to run away from home and his responsibilities in search of the Holy Grail.
It was on that quest that he found 16 year old Talon Windwaltz, another young wizard who was planning on exploring Europe in search of historical artifacts. Despite Talon being friendly and his love of history being believable, Tristan always had the belief that Talon's reason for traveling Europe was not purely academic. Tristan eventually grew to confide in Talon about the Holy Grail, and the young wizards agreed to help each other find it. Along their quest, they came across a muggle Naturalist named Richard Rutherford, and he ended up traveling with them for a time as well.
The three friends explored much of Europe together, following loose ends and riddles engraved cryptically in legends while growing closer every day. Eventually, Richard left them before they found their final clue to travel to Scandinavia. Tristan and Talon went alone up into the frozen north, and there came across a Frost Giant (a Jotun) which fought with them. Talon used his mysterious power over the air to blow the Jotun off one of the talls fjords, but accidentally sent Tristan hurling over the edge along with him.
Tristan managed to survive, thanks to the aid of a wizard hermit who lived nearby. The old man who spoke in very broken English claimed to be named 'Exvind' and nursed him back to health. Tristan stayed with Exvind for a while after he had regained his strength, and after staying together for a year, Exvind became ill. On his death bed, the old man told Tristan that the Holy Grail was not in Norway, but that it was he who had set up the trail that Tristan and Talon had followed in order to have someone come find him. Exvind knew he was going to die, and did not want to die alone.
Instead of being angry, Tristan forgave the man. In exchange for his forgiveness, Exvind took the bandages he had wrapped Tristan's wounds in and once again put the blood red cloths around him and enchanted them. So long as Tristan wore the cloth, no mortal blow or spell would kill him. It would only work once, however, and then never again. The old man then perished. Tristan, wrapped in bandages, chose to take the old man's name as an alias and continue his quest for the Holy Grail.
Two years passed, during which time the wizard managed to come across what was a magically enchanted spear - which he proclaimed was really the Spear of Destiny - and even brought the Spear before the Pope in order to see if it was truly so. It is unknown why the Pope blessed the object and allowed Exvind to carry it, instead of taking it into the Vatican storage. Tristan then decided to transfigure the iron, long disintegrated spear into a shining sword. He carried this sword with him when he finally came to Spain.
He had heard that Talon Windwaltz was still alive, and was now running a school. It was shortly after that that he discovered his cousin, Morgan, was present there. Tristan, under the alias of Exvind, fought valiantly in the Shadow War that followed shortly after he arrived for the defense of Talon and Morgan. He lost his sword in a battle. After the War ended, in payment, he asked Talon to help him construct a WAND GUN out of his wand. The WAND GUN made, and believing Morgan able to handle herself under the protection of Talon, Tristan went off to continue his quest for the Holy Grail.
He returned to Spain several times over the years to check up on Morgan, and defending anyone he could, but he never stayed. Only recently, his parents finally caught up with him and forced him to accept responsibility as the son of the family. When he discovered that Morgan, now graduated, had been disowned, he stormed back to Spain to find out how she fared.
His quest for the Holy Grail is still on hold.
