“You can put those in the storeroom, dear, to your left," Raven said to Fuu. That was a smarter idea. If Fuu kept those there she might trip over them. And tripping in a coffee house was always bad news. She walked away from Tobias and picked up her things. But before she left she grabbed the keys. Fuu just guessed a random key to use. She slipped it in and it unlock. She thought to herself, "Looks like luck is on my side today." She grinned and tossed her things in the room and then she quickly made her way back.
“Alright, well I’m off. Fuu, Tobias should be able to answer any of your questions, and if he can’t you can mock him about it for me.”, said Raven. Fuu replied, "Sure thing." With some delightful final words the beautiful black haired Raven to off. She transformed into no other than a raven. How awesome. Animagi was what Fuu was going to be learning over the summer.
Fuu waved goodbye as Raven left and she calmly placed her hands together in front of her. Fuu turned to face Tobias she had a mischievous grin on her face. Then she pulled out her wand. "So...", she said looking at his apron. "Hey look!" Fuu yelled as she pointed out of the windows. She didn't care whether or not he looked. She whispered the same spell that she had before and in seconds the word, "Tobias" was stitched with pale pink thread into his apron. Fuu approved and he expression showed that. "Wha'da think?" she asked.
Tobias' eye twitched slightly, when he stared directly at the pink on his apron. He sighed slightly, as he took a glance out the window, realizing that he had two employers in the Society, and one in public. Oh well, more work, more profit. The young man drew one of his wands, and twirled it once before directing it at his name on the apron. With a quick swish, the color darkened from pink, to a deep red. And the frilliness of it was changed to a sharper, more masculine form.
"Much better. Nowthen, for the breif bit of business talk before we get to the many hours of lounging doing nothing. The door on the left is the restroom, and the one on the right is the storeroom, as you should know. The center leads to Raven's bedroom...and you REALLY dont want to go up there. If you need her," Tobias paused as he found the button underneath the counter, "Press this button. But if she's not here, no good. Only two men are allowed through the middle door..."
This was the tricky part. He assumed that Fuu did not know what Unknown or the Count looked like, and if she did, there would be trouble. He quickly counjured three nameless pictures of the Count, Unknown, and Giada. "These three are allowed through the center door. This one," Indicating Scorpius' picture, "Is Mr. Robert Strong. If he ever comes in, give him a tea mixed with firewhisky, and dont ask for payment. But if he offers any, accept it. These other two," Suddenly, WWRD(What Would Raven Do?) passed though Tobias' mind, "... are Mr. Harry Tinkle, and Mrs. Ivonna Tinkle. They also get whatever they want free of charge because they are good friends of Raven."
Tobias then dispelled the pictures, before facing Fuu fully. "Well, that basically takes care of everything you need to know..."
Tobias didn't seem to like what Fuu had done. He used his wand to change the letters from pink to red. Well, they did seem to be his colors. Who could argue. "Much better. Nowthen, for the breif bit of business talk before we get to the many hours of lounging doing nothing." Tobias said as an introduction. Fuu stifled her laugh. For an emtionless monster Tobias had a certain funny side. He probably didn't notice it though. She would just have to tell him. But later.
He gave her a quick introduction around the shop. And told her never to go into Raven's room. That made sense. Everyone needs privacy. Tobias showed Fuu the calling button for Raven. She glanced down to where he pointed. It wouldn't be much use until Raven came back from where ever she was going.
Only two men are allowed through the middle door...", said Tobias. Then he pulled out three pictures. And told her their names. Easy enough. She didn't ask questions about why they where the only ones allowed? Or about the questionable names. Mainly because it was none of her business and she didn't really care.
Tobias finished up. Fuu replied to him, "I would think so. All I really have to do is memorize the spell for every type of drink she serves and I will be alright." she laughed, "I had a job like this in Okinawa. It wasn't nearlly as easy though. It is really hard to make triditional green tea for twenty people by hand." Fuu sighed and looked at the clock. It felt good to have a job. And how luck she was to get it in one day. Fuu put her elbows on the counter and and then rested her chin on her palms.
"So, Tobi-saa...once a customer comes I supopose I will just watch what you do. But until then... " Fuu turned her head and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
Before Tobias answered his crazy red-headed co-worker, he used one of his wands to summon two of the chairs to behind the counter, and basically, "flopped" down into one of the cushioned ones, motioning Fuu to sit in the other if she so choosed. Until a customer came, he was on break. He closed his eyes, and placed his hands behind his head to rest. He let out a deep sigh before replying, "What's there to talk about? The year's over, the Society of Shadows is looming over all of Spain, I have virtually no friends, and the world goes on. Like I told you when we first met...I'm a bit of a sociopath."
He had a nonchalant tone in his voice, really not caring. But admittedly, there was something unique about Fuu. Perhaps it was her overly quirky personality...or just the fact that she was about as insane as he was, but not violent.
Fuu took the chair and sat down. He was good at thinking of things like that. Fuu placed only one elbow on the counter and the side of her head on that. She was at an angle where she was still facing Tobias. He sighed and replied to her question. How very...depressing. Was the only thing that came to mind.
"The year is over but summer is the best part of the school year I my opion. And the Society of Shadows. Pfft! Whatever! Don't worry about them. And you have friends. I am your friend. Muryllis is your friend. Raven is your friend. Protege is your fiend...kinda. And I could count for five friends if you want to go braggin' about how many you have." She stopped to grab her chocolate milk that she still had. Fuu took a drink and said," I don't mind if you are a socio--whaever. I actually find it rather entertaining."
Tobias raised an eyebrow. "Interesting? That I am not good around people? That's a first. To tell you the truth, I haven't chatted with my good friend Muryllis, Protoge has been rather busy as Captain, Raven...well, she's my boss. Then it comes to you...so you say you're my friend? That must be the best news I have heard in years." His voice was laced in curiousity, as he sat straight to look at Fuu.
"Well, since you're looking to chat...why not about ourselves? Where did you come from? The lovable lunatic that you are could not have simply come spontaneously, right?" Perhaps he might have a real conversation that was not business, laced with sarcasm, or involved the death of some person or creature. This was becoming interesting. She had a unique perspective on life...while he had seen how it ended.
Best news in years? Was he being sarcastic? It was so hard to tell with this one. But Fuu decieded to take it as a compliment. Tobias sat up. She must have actually got him interested. And she did enjoy his shyness. She could never understand how people could be anti-social. Other people where entertaining in two ways. Either because the where strange or stupid. Oh, Fuu hoped she was odd not stupid.
"Well ya never know..." she said seriously, Then her smiled broke back through. "Where did I came from? Let's see. I was born in a small town near the Nagasaki area. Then I was in Okinawa. I worked a lot there. Hated it. I bounced around from orphange to orphane. Ieven stayed in a convent for about half a year. And went to London with Rayn. My not-so-related cousin. We just told people that we were. Then Some how i made my way to Spain." That was about it. Fuu had no grand background but Tobias might. "And what about you, you anti-social maniac?"
Tobias smiled slightly. "Anti-Social-Maniac? That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." Sarcasm was oozing from every fiber in his being with that statement, before becoming slightly serious. "Well, I was born on the eighteenth of September, 1990 in upper-middle class London. There I lived for six years, before my family died, me being the only survivor. So I inherited most of my family's stuff, lived with foster parents, came to Firefox...then my foster family's home burned down...and they couldn't escape..............Well, looks like I'm stuck here." His last phrase was filled with false cheerfulness, and sarcasm. It WAS better than that foster home...
Now she understood him a little better. He must have been a little down with such a sucky past. But something very interesting came up that she just had to point out. "Septemeber 18th, 1990!?" How very odd indeed. "You and I Tobi-saa have the same day of birth." She giggled to herself.
"Maybe you and I are actualy twins. Seperated before birth. We just happen to look different and have different parents, come from different countries and you happen to be a lot taller than I am with a very brudeing peronality!" she was sarcastic in her own way. Execpt when she spoke it sounded like she meant every word.
Tobias simply sat there, with an odd look on his face. It looked like he actually took her seriously, before his eye twitched once, and he remained silent....
Before he collapsed over the counter laughing. It was odd...but normal. A normal laugh, but odd because Tobias was laughing. "Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant...I have no idea but that just struck me as hilarious..." It was breif, but Tobias had actually laughed, without causing pain to someone else...freaky.
He seemed so, confused for a moment. Everything was silent. Like he wasn't sure what to do. Fuu did that a lot. But not like this. She felt kinda bad like she had done something wrong. Or possibly offend him. Then he began to laugh. Fuu was rather shocked she had never seen that before. Unless he was making someone miserable or blowing off a dummies head. Tobias actually had his face buried into the counter. Laughing. Maybe Fuu had a greater effect on him than she realized.
The Fuu found herself laughing right along with him. Not because of what she had said but just for that fact that Tobias was laughing. She calmed shortly after he did. Fuu's lips where still carved into a radiant smile from laughter. "Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant...I have no idea but that just struck me as hilarious..." he said to her. She was quite flattered with herself. "Yah....I do that..." she explained with little detail. She looked him right in the eyes, "I have never heard you laugh. I mean happy laugh before." She grabbed her milk and slid it closer. Fuu was being mildly serious, she rarely was but when it happened her eyes had a captivating nature about them. Fuu made a suggestion, "You should do it more. It's good for your health. Trust me I am a nurse." Then she took a another drink of her milk. She eyed the glass, it was already half empty.
Once Tobias regained control over himself, he listened to her advice. "I've heard that it is good for your psychological health. But I'm clearly beyond saving from that perspective...oh, your glass is half full. Need a refill?" He offered, as he stood, stretching slightly reaching for an empty cup, and filling it with coffee. Tobias was feeling slightly tired, and needed a tad more energy...on the off chance that there would be any customers...though he doubted it.
He was pretty much unaffected by the heat of the coffee as it went down his throat...though later, he was sure that he would regret it.
"No, I am alright." she repleid to his question about the chocolate milk. Then she thought back on what he had said before. "But I'm clearly beyond saving from that perspective." What a depressing sort of boy he was. There was always hope for these things. She didn't say that though she had done enough of the 'ray of sunshine' for today. She just stayed quiet and took another drink.
Fuu watched Tobias pour himself a cup of hot coffee. She cringed at how fast he drank it. "Doesn't that hurt? Or burn or something?" she asked amazed. Fuu knew he had some problems and all but did he not feel pain? Fuu grabbed her own throat just thinking about it.
He had been careless. He had shown one of his strength/weaknesses. "Er...not really....there was a bit of...truama at the Drakborough incident...since then, I haven't been able to feel much of anything." He spoke as if embarrassed, hoping that his partial truth had not been obvious. He was beginning to enjoy her company, and did not wish to lose it by revealing that he had been killed by the Dinivation teacher, and brought back to life by The Unknown One. That would definately put a damper on his social life.
He glanced up, but still did not see any customers. Just another slow day....with good company. But what were the odds that they would be born on the same day? Probably very low...but still, one of God's sick little jokes. Oh well, he could 'live' with it.
Tobias answered the question in an odd way. Not what he said but how he said it. Drakborough. Fuu hadn't been there nor did she want to be. In fights she was accident prone. And if she was in a battle there was a good chance of death. "Drakborough eh?, Awful stuff that was. I mean for the people that died. And for all those homes a busnesses ruined." Fuu didn't care that much, she was there and in a way it didn't seem real. "Fights sure are messy." She stretched her arms in the air and yawned. She checked her watch. They were still there for a little while.
"Truama?" she asked, "That it happened or were you there?". Maybe she was a little heartless in this matter perhaps in effected more people deeper than she thought it would.
