The Triangle Tunnel, a magical place filled with business but also mischievous. Joker usually came down here to order shipments for his bar, or sometimes just to see the colorful characters that made this place exciting, and in some cases, frightening. Joker never entered a shop in fear that he would feel the need to buy everything in that shop. The old geezer often spent most of his money on booze, or random useless junk that got thrown away days after their purchase.
Even though he tried to avoid entering one of the many shops, one caught his eyes. "Raven's Coffee Shop," Joker read from a sign. Coffee? When was the last time I had coffee?, the bar owner asked himself. Joker thought coffee was good for one thing, and one thing only, hang overs.
Joker legs moved forward, eventually getting him inside of the Coffee Shop. A small line gave him time to contemplate what he would exactly get, but this time was wasted on just looking at the food. Soon enough Joker got in front of the line, and looked at the person working there.
What do I want?, he asked himself. Joker gave a puzzled look and said, "Coffee? I want coffee?" What usually should be a statement was more like a question.
Too Fuu's recollection it had been the busiest day she had ever worked. All of the regular customers had returned and they were happy to be back. This was nice, very nice but they all returned at once. There had been swarms and swarms of people all day, and just when everything seemed to die down it was directly picked up again. This was suppose to be a lazy job yet Fuu could start to feel her feet get sore. I was a good thing that she was able to keep a smile.
"That will be five sickles and twenty-six knuts, sir", she said to an especially picky customer. Of course it was wrong to overcharge the man like she had done, but he was so annoying she just couldn't resist. He handed over the money with a little less than joyful look on his face. He took his beverage and lightly sugared sugar cookie then left. Without looking up Fuu said robotically, "I'll be with you in a moment." Fuu opened the register and sorted the money she sighed and looked forward to her next costumer.
Fuu was shocked. He was the last one in line. After the waves of people there was only one. Maybe after he took his order she could rest and chat a bit. She said a silent 'thank you' and then smiled her last 'how may I help you' -smile. Rapture. "What--", she was cut off by a question, "Coffee?". She was familiar to the man in front of her. Who could forget that man? Or his mustache? "I want coffee?", he asked more than commented.
Fuu's grin was a genuinely pleased one. Who knew a bar owner liked coffee? But he was... confused. But it was no trial. In the coffee world Fuu was a shepherd and all of her customers the sheep. She would lead him on the right path. "Yes, yes Mr. Joker, you do.", she stated while recalling his name. The redhead leaned forward on the counter with one arm and used the other to point to the large board behind her. It listed everything from an Iced Chai Latte to an Every-Flavor Macchiato.
"There is everything you can imagine. Take a moment and order whatever you like. Oh, don't forget about a cookie! You'll need a baked item of some sort to make your coffee expirence all the greater", Fuu informed. She was being as sweet as she could. He owned a bar. He was rich. Joker had the ability to buy whatever he wanted and Fuu would just... help him out a bit.
Joker's knowledge of coffee wasn't vast, but his knowledge for sweets was one of the best in his the land. One of his weaknesses were anything sweet. When he had an opportunity, he usually bought sweets in bulk. "Nothing like a freshly baked cookie," Joker said quietly, as he played with the right end of his mustache. "The only problem is what type to decide on," he added shortly after. Joker, luckily, had brought a hefty sum of money today, just in case.
"Okay, I want two sugar cookies, three chocolate chip cookies, and a double chocolate cookie," he said, keeping it simple. "As for the coffee," he started, as he looked at the list. He didn't know what the differences were between one coffee from another, so his decision was random. "I'll take a Columbian coffee," he finally said.
Joker reached his hand into his pocket, and grabbed a handful of knuts and sickles, awaiting how much it would come to. He wasn't the richest man in Drakborough, but his business allows him to spend a lot when he wants to. "So, how much will that come to?"
"Nothing like a freshly baked cookie," the mustache curling man said then he admitted that he couldn't decide on which one to choose. Fuu's grin was playful and cat-like. He was going to buy a lot, she could tell. She waited as he picked out of the wide selection. It was a good that he had picked the chocolate chip cookies; they were only twenty minutes old. While Fuu gathered his cookies, she recorded his coffee selection in her head.
The baked goods were in a small wax paper package. On there paper was a pale star pattern that she had charmed to twinkle. Fuu thought is was very cute. From the table behind he she grabbed a large cup and filled it was fresh hot Columbian coffee. Fuu was never really a big coffee fan, but she really liked the coffee smell. Especially Columbian and Snickerdoodle. The best thing about Raven's coffee is that it cooled but it was never cold. She placed the warm cup on the counter and pushed it toward the joker. "Cream is over there if ya need it", Fuu directed him to its location in front of the register.
With her other hand she used it to tally up his items. It was a steep price but Fuu had made enough money already. She reduced the price, if not only to be friendly but to not be punished by the heavens for overpricing that man. Fuu held out the hand that was previously pointing and said, "That will be seven sickles and... seventeen knuts". She looked up at Joker and held her gaze for moment.
"If you're not busy would you like to stay for a chat Mr. Joker? I'm...", The redhead trailed off as she duck under the counter. When she rose again she wasn't wearing an apron and she had a sign in her hands. It was a folded piece of paper that stood in its own. On it was a cartoon version of herself sleeping, next to her was the word: 'BREAK'. Fuu softly set it on the counter and finished, "... going on break".
The old man grabbed his cookies and the Columbian coffee, and headed over to the register, after being directed to. Joker happily paid the girl the fee of his coffee and cookies, it seemed to be a very low price for what he had ordered. Once the girl had finished what she was saying, if he would care for a chat during her break, he had to ponder. I just got these cookies, so I want to be eating them quickly. Then again, it would be easier if I ate them here, and didn't have to carry them around. But, I do have to get some things done at my bar.
"I've decided that I'll stay for a chat, but a quick one," he told her. Joker set the cookies back onto the counter, and pulled up a stool that was nearby. He then, before sitting down, poured a decent amount of cream into his coffee. Joker returned to the stool and sat down. For the first time, he had noticed the decoration on the paper that his cookies were wrapped in. He appreciated businesses that went the extra mile, such as casting charms on something to make it look better.
"So, do you have anything specific you want to chat about?" he asked her, as he grabbed his double chocolate cookie. Joker quickly gobbled down the cookie, leaving no crumbs. A pleasant look could be found on the wrinkled face of the man. There was two things that he could do amazingly fast. One was his ability to eat tons of cookies in matter of minutes, and the second is his ability to slam one beer after another.
Joker grabbed another cookie, this one being a sugar cookie, which he started eating, more slowly than the last. He didn't want to finish all of his cookies in just a few minutes.
Fuu grinned when Mr. Joker agreed to stay. Not that she hadn't taken breaks by herself before, she just like then better when she was able to have a nice talk. As her guest poured cream into her drink she retrieved her chair. At the peak of her busy work it was getting in her way. After some... less than ladylike words she had kicked it out of the way. She set the chair in from of Joker and heard his query as she bent down. She had made a strawberry blended ice drink earlier and hadn't finish it.
She placed the drink on the counter and took a seat. Fuu paused a moment to think about a subject of discussion. Light conversation would be enough. "I didn't really have anything specific in mind", she said distantly. "Tell me, Mr. Joker, how is business these days? Everything going alright?". Fuu wasn't normally a harsh business lass but if things weren't going great for him... perhaps she would have more customers.
As she watched the man in front of her eat, she too wanted a snack. She leaned over as far and she could and pulled the cookie container to her. She hoped the sliding sound wasn't too distracting. Fuu popped open the top and pulled out a chocolate one with mint flavored chips. She liked to a lot. It was a little old but... she didn't really care. She returned the lid and pushed it to the side.
As she waited the reply she took a bite of her snack. She wasn't a half bad cook. If she wasn't afraid of being an egotistical prick she would have claimed that her cookies were the best in the land. She washed down her treat with a couple drink of strawberry goodness. As she listened further she began to chew on her straw. It was a bad a bit, but she did it anyway.
