Upon receiving word from the Minister of Magic's office requesting to appear for an interview, Nadine was truly excited to even have a chance to talk to Mister Plutus. Wanting to make a good impression, she dressed in dress pants, black dress shoes, a white oxford, a black tie, and her trademark tail coat and top hat. She walked up to the Ministry Mansion holding the letter lightly in hand.
"This is it," she cheered quietly to herself as approached the magnificant building. "Let's just hope that I actually get a job here," she prayed as she took out a small crucifix from her shirt and kissed it. She looked around as many ministry workers entered and exited the building and smiled softly. The French woman looked down at her pocket watch that hung from her tail coat and decided to walk into the building. Dear holy father, please let this be the last job I ever apply for, she thought in a silent prayer as she waited patiently for someone to give her directions to the Minister's office.

Upon reaching the gates to the Ministry Mansion, aurors and other purple-robed officials performed several checks on Nadine to make sure she was not concealing anything or that she had any bad intentions for visiting the Ministry of Magic today. Being a rather routine check that the guards performed multiple times every day, it did not take that long.
Nadine was escorted down the pathway to the door to the building, where a rather unhappy-looking goblin was waiting for her. The goblin, employed at the Ministry only so that Plutus could fulfill some silly ICW quota for not discriminating against non-humans, only put up with the Ministry because he had lost his business and family in the War of Shadows and wanted to ensure that the Society of Shadows or groups like it did not rise again. This did not mean, of course, that he had to be happy about his job.
"Ms. Laurent, I presume," grumbled the goblin. "The Minister has been expecting you. This way. Don't dawdle."
The ugly-looking creature led her down several hallways and up a staircase or two, not talking and just letting her see the Ministry at work. It seemed very busy and somewhat cramped, papers (usually literally) flying around everywhere as the Ministry still sought to establish itself more fully in Iberia. They finally reached a heavily-guarded corridor, where a plump, cheerful witch greeted them.
"Gracias, Sludrig. That will be all," said the witch with a light Spanish accent. The goblin grumbled something, turned around, and made his way back downstairs. The witch smiled at Nadine. "The Minister is ready to meet with you. Right this way."
She flicked a wand and a door appeared in the wall beside Nadine, opening up.
Plutus looked up from his desk as his door opened, the secretary stepping in. "Ms. Nadine Laurent to meet you for an interview about the open head position in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, Minister," she announced.
"Thank you, Leti. Send her in," said the Minister. The secretary motioned her inside, closing the door behind her as Plutus smiled. "Hello, Ms. Laurent. I trust it was not too much of a hassle reaching us for this interview."
The Minister motioned for her to sit down in front of his desk. "Would you like some tea or something to drink?"

Nadine watched carefully as she was checked for anything of potential harm. She assumed that it was for the safety of those whom worked within the building and did not question anything. it was a smart thing to do considering all that happened in the past concerning the war.
When she was cleared she looked down at the next escort. A goblin, interesting it's good to see that they don't discriminate the workers here she thought happily as she followed the goblin who she later learned his name was Sludrig. Seeing the last person, a rather cheerful witch who's joy seemed to rival her own, she mentally sighed in relief.
And here is where the real challenge lies, the interview with the Minister of Magic himself, Julius Plutus. When he greeted her with a smile, Nadine felt slightly at ease with everything. Taking upon his non verbal request, she sat down in the chair across from the desk. She heard him ask if she wanted something to drink. "No thank you Minister," she politely declined with a French accent. "Too nervious," she admitted shyly.

The Minister nodde as she respectfully declined the offer to drink. "Understandable. It is not a weakness to be nervous. I'd be more concerned if you were not nervous," said Plutus. "If you'll forgive me, I am not one for much small talk. As I am sure you know, I'm fairly busy. So we will cut right to the chase."
Plutus raised his wand towards a filing cabinet, which opened up. A folder came flying out of it, landing and opening in front of the Minister. It contained Nadine's application as well as some information a background check on her had obtained... plus a few other tidbits of interesting information.
"Now, please do not take any of this personally against you. We have to be somewhat thorough when it comes to this, particularly if any flags were raised," said the Minister, glancing up at Nadine as he set a little, triangular device on the desk in between them. "I am going to ask you several questions. Answer as clearly and truthfully as you can.... First, do you have or have your ever had any connection or affiliation at all with Count Scorpius, the Unknown One, the Society of Shadows, or one of its branches?"

"Yes sir, I don't wish to keep you from doing your job," she smiled softly. At least he understood that she was nervous and didn't hold it against her. But she was sure that her talk with Ryder would be if it was ever found out.
Nadine nodded as she watched a file appear in the Ministers hand. Let's just hope the glass shop incident isn't in there, she thought nervously.
Crossing her legs, the witch listened carefully to his question and looked slightly confused. "No sir, I am not an affiliate of any of the mentioned organizations. And to be honest I have no clue as to who they are," she replied softly locking eyes with the man to show her honesty. She slightly glanced down at the device trying to figure out it's purpose. IS it a lie detector test? she asked herself curiously.

He kept his pale eyes locked with hers as she gave her answer. For a moment after she was done they flickered down towards the device on the desk between them, which remained unmoving. He was slightly surprised by her response and its veracity; to be totally in the dark about the Society of Shadows and the havoc it had let loose on Spain--and Britain prior to that--in the War of Shadows was odd, and the total ignorance of the dark sorcerer Scorpius was also perplexing, particularly given the support he once had from notable French people like Atra Alveus, Dominique Contessa, and Louis Rousseau. Then again, in the wizarding community, it was not that odd for people to literally grow up under rocks...
"Very good," said the Minister, pleased. He flipped through some pages in her file to a little note that he had received recently, looking down at it for a moment before looking back up at the French witch. "Now, what do you know about these rumors of a Firefox student-led rebellion against the Ministry of Magic?"

Now, what do you know about these rumors of a Firefox student-led rebellion against the Ministry of Magic?
This was the question that she did not wish to answer. Placing her hands in her lap, she looked down and sighed. "Sir, I am not going to lie to you. I was contacted by one of the rebellion leaders, Gwen White, a few days ago asking to join the cause, and just yesterday another approached me asking if I was to join. I have declined both offers Minister, and I am currently in the works of trying to talk one of them out of this pointless task," she spoke softly avoiding his eyes in slight fear. Trying to to break down then and there, she exhaled and looked back up at Julius. "And sir that is the truth, and if you wish I will spy on them to see what their true intentions are," she spoke just loud enough for him to hear.

Grabbing his quill, he wrote down the name of the girl that she had mentioned. His pale blue eyes continuously looking between her and the device on his desk, which remained silent. When she had finished her explanation, Julius Plutus looked back up at her, not speaking for a moment as he gathered his thoughts.
"Hmm... Thank you, Ms. Laurent. I appreciate your truthfulness. You may continue to spy on them and report your information to myself or the Chief Auror, Julian Forbes. However, do not join them as a double agent for us-- it would be better for you to remain unaffiliated with them. Do not get too involved."
Glancing over her file once more, he closed it and looked back up at Nadine.
"I, Julius William Plutus, Minister Plenipotentiary of the International Confederation of Wizards to Spain and Interim Minister for the Iberian Ministry of Magic, hereby declare you Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes," said Plutus, removing a small wooden box from his desk and handing it to her. It held the key to her new office, her badge, and a set of purple robes to wear at formal Ministry functions. "You are in charge of dealing with any magical mishaps, and you will also be charge with obliviating the minds of Muggles or witnesses to certain things that are sensitive to the Ministry and Iberian security. Your staff is not that large, and I recommend that you seek some employees, but I feel that you can handle the job for now. In the event of an attack by a magical creature or a dark wizard, you will work in conjunction with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in cleaning up and securing the attacked area."
He smiled.
"Any questions, Madame?"

The woman's eyes widened in happiness as she looked down at the small box before her. "Thank you Minister, I'll be sure not to disappoint you," she spoke cheerfully. Yay! I got a job, she thought as she resisted to cry tears of joy. Handling the box with care, she continued to listen to what her duties were. She had no complaints about any of them, and was well prepared for anything that the job may challenge. Oh how she wanted to hug the man that took her out of poverty.
"No sir, there are no questions," she spoke softly. "And don't worry I will never betray the Ministry or anyone that is affiliated," she smiled kindly. Now to find people to work in my department, wow head of a Ministry department, she thought to herself in glee.

"Thank you. You may leave and get to work," said the Minister, returning to his paperwork. "Keep an eye out for any accidents or catastrophes that would need appropriate Ministry response. If you need anything just come find myself or an undersecretary."
He flicked his wand and the door magically opened, signifying that the meeting was over.

Standing up, she held the box under one arm and bowed lightly to Julius. "Will do sir," she responed before exiting the office. Today was the start of a beautiful new start. "But I do have one question sir," she spoke before turning back around. "What will happen to the White kid?" she asked curiously.

He glanced up, a calm smile on his face. "She already has formal charges placed on her for committing the disgusting act of casting the Dark Mark in Triangle Tunnel, bringing to memory the massacre that Scorpius and his minions committed here within the recent past," said Plutus. "The charges of inciting rebellion and conspiracy against the Ministry will be added to her list. Once I clear some things up with Talon Windwaltz, she will be arrested and giving a hearing."
As the door opened, the plump secretary reentered to hand Plutus a letter. He glanced at it for a moment and then looked back up at Nadine.
"She hasn't killed or hurt anyone yet. The punishments will not be too severe," he said. "Anything else?"

"No sir, thank you," she spoke softly before making her way out of the office once again closing the door behind her. Well she had it coming, I just hope she admits to it before it get too out of hand she shrugged to herself.
