Inferi. Everywhere. Hordes of the undead, some rotting, some relatively fresh, some merely dead. Crawling. Scraping. Clawing. Ripping. Flesh of the living and even some of the dead flying through the air. The blood ran like water through the stone streets, coating boots and the bodies of the fallen.
It was perfect.
Out of an alley, where there once stood a coffee shop, there came the sound of a pop. Then some moans of the undead. Then an explosion. Fire erupted from the alley like a dragon had burped it out. Stepping out of the alley, his boots crunching on the bodies of the toasted Inferi, was a man with a wicked smile on his face. His lips were red, but his skin was pale. His eyes were even more red than his lips, almost shining.
An inferius launched itself at the man and was instantly lit on fire. The man held his wand with skill, as if he had spent thousands of years battling along side it. Across from him was a three story book store. The store seemed to cater to the used and adult variety of literature, and at the moment it seemed to cater to the victims. Screams came from the top story.
The man casually flicked his wand at a window in the top story and it exploded. Then he held his wand out in front of him. Like riding a bike, getting used to the motions after a year of not riding. A ball of fire grew at the wand's tip and then floated in through the window. The screams died out as the store turned into a blazing inferno.
Another Inferius tried to grab on to the wizard, but his head was crushed under the man's boot. Then his body was set aflame by the wand.
"Ay Dios Mio!" came a call from the man's left. A man in plain robes, probably a shop owner caught up in the attack while he slept, rushed from a store to the wizard's side. He looked happy, surprised. Relieved. Someone had come to his rescue!
The man's face changed when the wizard he believed to be his savior grabbed his neck in a vice-like grip.
"Your god," the man spoke, his voice smooth like the belly of a serpent, "Can not help you."
The shop owner's head exploded in a glorious shower of brain and blood, the red-eyed wizard's wand held where the man's temple would have been.
"Come now! Come all! Let this be a party in my honor, a celebration! Come to me, challenge me, serve me, or die at my wand!"
It was perfect.
