Leseur was in the dungeons this very night for a very particular reason. The stone walls and floor elevated the echo of his feet hitting the ground beneath him. His robe fluttered behind him. He must look like he was patrolling or down here on official business. He was searching for ingredients in the potions class room that would make for a nice brew. One that would give his pack the edge it needed when the time came for battle no matter who it was with.
What sort of potion did he want? There were certain mixtures that would bring them greater aglity and strength. He could also douse himself in a love potion, but Leseur was already attractive enough. Although he did admit Fenrir might need a whole bottle of that stuff just because of the eye patch. He supposed the rump raider look was "in" right now-
His thoughts were abruptly ended when he realized he was thinking of silly things and not on grasping the moment. He turned a corner. This time of night would warrant no patrols by any students hopefully. Leseur had heard about the Slytherin prefect. The boy was apparently brave for a Slytherin, but brave in the cunning way... what an annoyance. Leseur would be sure to have choice words for such a thorn if he ever encountered the boy.
The lean French man wasn't in a social mood tonight. Tonight it was all business. He continued patrolling the dungeons and encountered nobody. He smelled nobody. All he could scent out were the damp stone walls...

The familiar scent of the Headmaster would've caught the Lycan's attention quickly heading down one of the corridors in the dungeons. Talon charged through the hallways with his wand lit in his purple pajamas with lightning bolts and lion slippers. The Headmaster wore a long nightcap that extended down to the arch of his back. He hated it when this happened, and it happened too frequently for his own desires.
Apparently the idea of 'spooky dungeons' was too much for the average bad guy to pass up. So that meant that every crook, wizard or demon, had to 'borrow' Talon's dungeons without asking him for permission to torture and imprison their hostages. Well the Headmaster wouldn't stand for it. He had put up a multitude of enchantments, the dungeons having the most of which, just to make sure that wouldn't happen again.
And for heaven's sake, if they had to do it, couldn't they do it in the middle of the day when he wasn't trying to sleep?
He patrolled each corridor until finally, at last, he found the source of the breach in his spells. The French Herbology teacher was here, dressed in full business attire, as if he'd never gone to sleep. Talon was rather confused as to what exactly was going on, and why Leseur was out of bed at this hour and running around in the dungeons. "Leseur?" The Headmaster said, curiosity in his voice, "What's going on?"

Leseur suddenly realized with the approaching scent of the Headmaster he had to abort his mission. The dungeons must have been enchanted for this very reason. The headmaster despite his deceitfully calm nature, was very smart. This was bad news for him because he had to think of an excuse... and quickly before the headmaster reached him. The good news was that his sense of smell gave him at least a few seconds. To think up a good one. He was able to draw his wand and put on an almost deadly expression. As the headmaster rounded the corner he aimed his wand at the headmaster.
"Oh, Eadmastear, thank goodness. I was een the green ouse tendeeng to some of my nocturnal speceemens and appened to see a figeur moveeng across thee grounds. I was able to take a plant weech lets me see in thee dark and I gave chase, but eet was quick. I've been patrolleeng evear seence, I ave found nothing... I was about to come wake you actuallee"
He looked around his wand following his gaze. He would need to find help to get what he needed.

Talon was rather baffled. Why did Leseur need a plant that could help him see in the dark? A proper illumination spell that even a first year could handle was enough to guide a wizard through the dark. Then again, the Headmaster likewise thought in support of the Herbology Professor, perhaps he had been going for stealth. After all, charging headlong into battle wasn't always the best choice.
The Frenchman consistently proved himself a valuable asset to the school. "I don't doubt you, Leseur," Talon made sure to say beforehand, "but..." at this point he resisted the urge to yawn, "...I would've noticed if anything else had entered the dungeons or other important part of the school. There was no disturbance until I assume you came down here."
Talon really didn't want to deal with this. He wanted to go back to sleep. He wanted Leseur to tell him he was down here on a midnight walk and that was it, not that there was some kind of monster in his halls. "So that means," the wizard finally said, "you either lost its trail and it escaped outside again, or whoever you chased has found a way around my enchantments." The latter, however, wasn't a logical answer at all. Nothing could slip by these enchantments.

"Yes, peraaps you are right. Eet must ave been notheeng, but eet's bettear to be safe than sorree"
Maybe he could turn this into an advantage.
"I weel patrol for a while longear, just to air on thee side of safetee and to allay my suspeecions. Eef I find ANEEtheeng I weel find you" With a nod Leseur began patroling the dungeons again.

Talon was amazed how quickly the Herbology Professor set aside his beliefs in favor of the Headmaster's. Leseur had been chasing this "creature" all night and even stalked it to the dungeons, and yet he was willing to accept it was nothing just like that? Maybe Talon had been dealing with stubborn people too long. Perhaps normal people like Leseur actually really did listen when you talked.
This thought died the minute the Herbology Teacher spoke again. Leseur hadn't given up his belief at all, he was just trying to be a nice colleague to Talon and simply telling him to head to bed and let him deal with his own worries. Indeed, hadn't the man first told the Headmaster his reason for coming to the school was to help protect the wizarding world?
Talon smiled, "No, don't worry about it Leseur. Go back to the Greenhouses...or to bed, actually, just call it a night. You've been through a terrible fright." He pointed his wand at a nearby suit of armor and it suddenly snapped to attention and began to march through the hallway. "It will patrol for you. If anything living is down here, I will know. Otherwise it'll just be that."

Leseur hid his displeasure at this new developement and decided he needed to keep his cover more than deal with the headmaster any longer.
"Yes, eet as been a late night...." He paused in thought "All right then, I weel go to bed and see you at breakfast tomorrow Monsieur" He gave the headmaster a smile and headed off to the staff sleeping quarters. Leseur began digging through his brain for a plot that could get him into that potions room without alerting the headmaster....
