† Utor Silentium †
Enjoy The Silence
The strokes of six PM rang out over the grounds and inside the castle. Many students were down in the Feasting Hall eating their dinners and chatting happily about their day and the next day’s classes and adventures. Even the Librarian was in the Feasting Hall, which was why there was a flickering light at the back of the Library; sitting on a large oak table. Stacked in neat, high piles around the burning flame where all sorts of different books. Each stack started with the largest books and then towered to the smallest ones. Each stack carefully sorted based on the decade it was written. However, every single book had one thing in common…inside their torn, tattered, and beaten pages was the key to the history of a forsaken creature.
Somewhere lost in the shadows of the many piles of books was a figure; illuminated and outlined by the soft golden glow of the candle. Her skin was pale but not white, soft but not overly so, flawless but not fake; very complimentary to her eyes which where an odd mix between silver and gold. Her body was curved nicely, thin but not sickly so. To completely her lovely skin and gentle eyes she had deep violet hair that looked black in the dark. Silky soft locks tumbled their way down to her thighs, shinning in the flicking candle light. While technically she was suppose to be wearing her robes, this young girl was in a pair of black jeans, a faded blue shirt with a shawl, and a pair of black boots. Around her neck hung a silver chain with a silver cross, engraved in the pure metal were the words ‘In Nomen Of Deus Haud Malum Vadum Vulnero Mihi’, a Latin phrase.
Her eyes shimmered between silver and gold as they moved across never-ending pages; searching for the information she needed. “Mother why leave me with this curse?” She muttered softly as she read more, becoming lost in the lines and ink set into the ivory pages. Her slender fingers flipped tattered page after tattered page until the book was done. It joined a pile of books written in the same decade before another book was picked up and opened. Why was it so hard to find the information she needed? She knew she didn’t have long…the Librarian would be back any moment and even though she was looking through books available to all students, she really didn’t need Shane checking up on her.
Her eyes hastened their search. She had to find it…she had to suppress the monster inside her that was born to her, given by her forsaken mother. Luck had already been on her side when she was accepted here, but she couldn’t risk the evil inside her getting out around the students or teachers. But alas all she found was how to kill the creature her mother was, not how to suppress the monster inside herself. With a frustrated sigh she stood and began returning the books back to their rightful places after jotting down the names and authors of all the books so she would not search them when she came back. She could almost hear her mother taunt her, “You’ll never find it Ankea…never.”
