Ashelle climbed the stairs of the newly restored Ravenwood tower. She remembered when she first came how she would climb the original towers stairs for exorcise, to keep herself in tip top shape for the BFC. She had worked for them for so long, but now she was out to defeat them and hopefully find what was left of Marc's pack, the Streampaws.
Marc had said he wished to go out and see the stars, and did Ashelle think it would be alright, as long as it was on a moonless night? Marc had a tendency to howl at the moon no matter what phase it was in and Ashelle had had to put dark curtains on the windows of the boy's side of the Gryffindor Tower loft for him.
Ashelle wasn't sure it would be at all safe to go out at night. The one time he had they'd been in Drakborough and he'd met another Lycan who luckily wasn't in the position or frame of mind to fight with them. However it could have been anyone, including one of the BFC! So Ashelle had decided to take him up to the new Ravenwood Tower. They were sure to see stars from there, and it was safer than walking around outside -without protection- at night.

With each step he took, Marc felt more and more uneasy about this trip to 'the tallest tower of the school'. Being a Lycan he was used to traveling close to the ground, even more so because he was born of a Lycan Clan instead of made one. However, he missed his clan very much and his father had always said that when he lost -whether within himself or in the wide world- to look upon a certain constellation in the sky and know he was not alone.
Now that Miss Ashelle was the closest thing to and the last part of a clan he had, he dearly wished to show her this constellation, just in case she ever felt as he did now.
"Is it much higher Miss Ashelle? I am scared of being this high up." But Ashelle seemed not to hear and only hurried faster. Soon they came to a room with telescopes at every window, and a window for each direction, not just North South, East, and West but Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast as well.
"What is this place?" Marc asked, bewildered. He'd never seen such a room before, nor had he ever seen a telescope, let alone eight.

"This is the observatory, where they have Astronomy and part of Divinations class." said Ashelle as she walked to the middle of the room and waved her wand at a trapdoor in the middle of the ceiling and said:
"Rigel Kentaurus"
The trapdoor then opened, and a set of ladder like stairs slowly folded down and landed with a soft bump on the floor below. Ashelle motioned to Marc, beckoning him to join her.
"Come on now, you first. It would be pointless to try and work the Telescopes. You don't know how to work them and I only know a tiny bit. We'd never see anything decent in the time we have." Marc seemed to be hesitating, as if afraid of the magic she'd just used.
"Marc, it's ok, honest! There is nothing up there that will harm you . . . unless a Nephilim comes by, but if that happens we are both doomed anyway so it wouldn't matter if we stayed in here or not." She smiled comfortingly and held out her hand to him.

Marc hesitated, not because she'd used magic but because he was afraid of how much higher they'd have to go. Nor did he fear another magical creature showing up, because he hadn't had much experience with 'evil' creatures, only evil wizards. However when she held her hand out to him, he smiled a little and took it.
Once he began climbing the stairs he realized there wasn't much further to go at all, he could see the stars though the trapdoor. Once he got to the top, he turned right around to help Ashelle out into the open air of the tower top.
The tower had a flat top but the stone wall continued up for about four feet from this floor, so that no one could accidentally fall off. Marc was very glad of this. He sat down next to the trap door and looked around till he saw it.
"That is Canis Minor, Ashelle," he told her in the same loving manner his own father had used on him. "The eye of Canis Minor is known as Procyon - 'before the dog'. My Dad said that before the dog was the wolf, and so that constellation is where our Ancestors look down on us from. If ever you feel alone -lost or in doubt- just find Canis Minor, and know that those who have gone before are watching you. You are never alone."
