Stars etched the skies, and the cries of cicadas rang in the air, along with the occasional roars of beasts ringing from the forest nearby. Sam Nanten, a recent addition to the house of Ravenclaw, had taken the liberty of visiting the Astrological Tower the night he had been inducted into the school. But, truth be told, he was feeling pretty glum. There were no classes available at this current juncture, since the school was still receiving floods of students.
Resting his crossed arms on the railing, the wind tossed his shaggy locks to the side, obscuring his square frames a bit less. He was wearing blue jeans and a white long-sleeved dress shirt, untucked. His robe rested on a mantle next to the doorway to this balcony. He had made a new friend that day, it seems, so he supposed it wasn't a total loss. Even so, this basically put him back at square one, which was studying independently. The only reason he gave in and enrolled was so that he could finally hone his skills in a controlled environment, to learn from masters of this craft and to one day gain skills comparable to them. Sure, he no longer had to worry about standing out as a stranger, so maybe if he made more friends he could gain several teachers before the fall semester even started.
He had spent so much of his life, surrounded by the mysteries of magic but having such a limited acuity to embrace it. He was all but muggle, for the most part. He let a sigh escape, wishing there was at least a summer program of sorts he could get involved in.
