The going had been slow, for Muryllis had taken every care in the world to keep his 'luggage' comfortable on the trip from the Duelling Hall to the Hospital Wing. Halting here and there to reapply the Stop Pain charm on her burnt flesh, he managed to make it up the endless flights of stairs, finally reaching the floor of the Infirmary. Marching her through the door, he called, urgently as he could, for a nurse to come as quickly as possible.
Lowering Roan slowly onto a bed, he kept the Cushion Bind charm on her, fearing her reaction at being present in this room. The minutes growing torturous, he was quite pleased when one did finally arrive. Walking over to her, he related the details of the Dueling Hall incident as best he could, describing her idea of a 'test', the burns, the Stun, and the Conjunctivitis curse. He described how he had disenchanted the curse and the stun, and the Stop Pain charm with which he had coated her burnt body, he asked her to keep this matter as private as possible. "I personally do not wish for this to get out, and I do not quite think that Roan would be too happy if it did. Also," he added, "I currently have her in a soft Cushion Bind charm, for she did not agree to come up to the Wing when I offered it. I would like to be present while she is taken care of, if it is at all possible."
Carrie had been filing through various pieces of parchment during the night, and morning was fast arriving. Before long, Kasey, Ashlle and Fuu would be in to take her off, and she could go to bed. It really was a good thing thay she was nocturnal. It had become natural for the brown haired nurse to realise when someone new came into the wing and as someone, or two people, came in, the nurse took her blue labcoat off the coatstand and walked out, to be greeted by a male Ashlle had treated before.
Glancing over to the bed as he spoke, Carrie couldn't help but wince a little. The girl was there, too. The one who didn't get along with Ashlle too well. Maybe the energy potion might be better than sleep today she thought to herself as she listened to the story Muryllis gave her. Burns, conjunctavitus charms, stunning charms, and the Ravenclaw had thankfully done all he could.
Nodding at the request to stay, she spoke for the first time in a while. "Privacy is what we do, so there's no problem there," she explained, pulling a trolley out from a cupboard nearby. "But at a guess, she's in here for a few days. Burn balms can only heal so much at a time, and we'll have to keep her cool at all times." Loading the trolley full of said burn balms, and other potions and lotions, the brunette nurse wheeled the trolley over to the bedside and gave a warm smile to the patient, still kept motionless by the soft cushion charm. Putting her on the bed was not the best idea, as fluff off the covers could get into the burns or stick to her skin, but they would come to that as and when.
"Hi there! My name's Carrie and I'll be taking care of you tonight, okay? From what I hear you've been playing around with magic, right?" she asked, shaking her head a little. "Whatever happened to the no magic outside class rule, I'll never know. Not that we ever kept to it, of course," she grinned.
Reaching for an anasthetic potion off the trolley, Carrie continued: "Okay, here's what we're going to do. First off, I'm going to give you this potion which will numb everything and maybe make you feel a little woozy; though it does look as though you could do with some sleep," with that, Carrie summoned over a sleeping potion, too. The Hufflepuff would likely be a lot more comfortable if she was numb and asleep.
"Then, I'm going to try and cool those burns down a little just using a cooling potion on linen, and putting a fan on, completely normal fan, okay? Then we'll get some burn balm on, bandage you up and take it from there," she smiled, knowing it sounded like a lot, and it would take a while, but it had to be done.
"Muryllis is going to take the binding charm off you now, and then I'll get started."
We never had nurses like that, he pondered, gazing in wonder at Carrie's soft conduct with the rebellious patient. He was also satisfied with her promise of secrecy, remembering the fight that nearly broke out between Roan and Ashlle. A few days, however; were her burns that bad? He looked back at Roan, the redness and burnt skin all over her front. Glancing back at the nurse, he muttered a sorrowful 'sorry about all this' when he noticed her sleepy eyes. Stealing another look at Roan, gazing deep into her eyes, he could only keep wondering, why?
At Carrie's request, he pulled out his wand, aiming it at Roan. A silent flick, and the binds were released. Needlessly tensing at the thought that, at any moment, Roan would spring at him and either incinerate or strangle him, he remembered that she was in pain, tired, and wandless. The wand, he pondered, pulling out the charred remains of the girl's wand. It was blackened, and the Phoenix tail feather was sticking out of a large crack in the wooden side, letting off a spark when he tapped it with his finger. Slipping it back in his pocket, he turned around and sat on the bed opposite Roan's. A quick observation, and interesting; we're pretty much in the same beds we were in last time. Pushing aside the thought, he asked the nurse, "Is it okay if I catch up on a bit of sleep, too? That was quite tiring for a morning experience." He yawned, glancing back at Roan. She would most definately thank him sooner or later; after all, besides medical help, she was getting the test she wanted, right? "Right, Roan? Here's that training to overcome your fear."
Carrie gave Muryllis a small 'don't worry about it' smile back in return to his look before nodding to his request. "Sure you can. I'm sure rest is all the both of you need. After all, both times you've been in here it's been the middle of the night, if I'm correct," she grinned, a glint of humour behind her eyes.
Turning back to Roan, as the Ravenclaw had called her, the brunette was almost on guard for anything unusual and had just opened the bottle of anasthetic when she raised her eyebrow. What kind of a test was he on about? Pouring a measure of the potion into a plastic cup, she turned her friendly smile back to the brunette girl and asked: "Ready?"
This whole morning had been going to badly. Her testing against her fears of magic went horribly, and she ended up terribly injured and more afraid then she had been before it all started. The person who had found her she thought would be a good person for that. He had been gentle with her completley burnt form, but not with her mind. She didnt want to go to the Hospital Wing, no matter how bad her body was. It scared her, the magic that was used, and most of the nurses were the same. And to make matters worse, Muryllis had cast more magic on her. When that had happened, Roan was just shocked. She had wanted to cry the entire way to the Wing but she couldnt, her body was just immbolizied. She had trusted the Ravenclaw, and now she hated him for treating her like this. And as always, she would try and get her revenge.
Finally they were in the Wing itself, and Roan could feel the bed beneath her through the spell Muryllis had cast. Then the nurse came in, and if the girl could have scowled, she would have been. At least it wasnt Ashlle, this nurse actually seemed kinda nice. And not only that, she was being kind about it all, and wasnt using the instant spells or potions that would just heal her skin up, the things that scared her. Roan had ears, she could listen. So she would be stuck here for a few days, well, the nurses had better learn to keep her asleep through that if they didnt want her upset and yelling. She was going to be put under a numbing potion? At that thought, Roan nodded. "That all sounds wonderful Ms. Carrie. I just want this all to be over." Her voice was a croak, but her eyes were sincere.
The spell off of her she turned and glared at Muryllis a moment, anger flashing in her eyes. Anyone who would dare cast magic on her would learn to suffer for it, and she would want punishment for going against her wishes to how her body would be treated. Now she had to spend a few days in one of her most hated place. And her glare said it all. Then she turned back to the nurse, who she was geniunley liking, and would have smiled if she wasnt in such a bad mood at the moment. The nurse was doing things in a remotley muggle fashion, no fancy spells, just a balm, some potions, and rest.
With a shaky hand she reached out and took the cup with the potion. She tried to figure out a way to grab it without hurting her burnt hand, but gave up and just took it, wincing as it came in contact with the charred skin. The girl downed the potion as best she could, feeling it running down her throat and shuddering at the feeling, handing the cup back to the nurse and just closing her eyes and waiting for the effects. They were quick, and the numbing spell took a quick hold on her burned body, removing the sting and dull ache. Muryllis's spell could only do so much, and Roan was very thankful for this potion, the only one she was truly thankful. Her head did go a bit woozy and she was thankful for the pillow under it, but all in all, it was alright for Carrie to do any of her healing.bg
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
He enjoyed watching Roan as she fumed at him. "You'll be thanking me later for this," he said as she cooled down when the nurse tended to her. Apparently she actually likes this nurse, he thought; and it made sense, too, because Carrie didn't wave her wand and heal every burn. She was much more... subtle about it, giving Roan numbing and sleeping potions; I guess just the idea of being here for a few days must have soothed her, he reasoned. His reaction was a look of deep interest as the girl shot him such a glance, full of venom and daggers, that anyone would have cringed; he, however, simply smiled back, waving a finger and whispering, "temper, temper."
There was to be a long night ahead of them; the last time they were here, Roan had been ordered to stay with him, and had decided to leave after a few problems arose. Muryllis, however, wanted to stay here the whole time. I'm at fault, he pondered, so it is only fair that I stay here with her. He put a pillow up against the bed's headboard, sitting down directly opposite her. Giving her a smug look, his thought process changed. "You do know that, I hope, this is your doing," quoth he, "and that I am at fault only because I did nothing to stop your silliness." Truly, however, he felt that the whole incident was his fault, all because of what happened in the Dueling Hall the day before...
Carrie watched as the anasthetic took effect and nodded as Roan's head fell back against the pillow. She was already feeling the woozyness, so a full blown sleeping potion wouldn't be neccessary. Summoning over some Lavender mist spray, the brunette sprayed some on the pillow Roan was lying on. "Just lavender scent. It'll help you drop off," she explained as she sat back and undid the cooling balm. Putting some onto a linen cloth, Carrie began to gently dab the burns which appeared to be all over. Luckily the girl's clothes had saved most areas, but where the burns were looked bad enough. Fancy volleying fire charms back at yourself. The idea seemed crazy to the nurse.
Summoning a strawberry lollipop, Carrie stuck it in the corner of her mouth while she worked, trying to keep herself awake and her nerves down. Mungos hadn't taught her to deal with burns to this degree, so she was on her own. All she knew was that burn balms didn't have amazing healing powers on fresh burns.
Reapplying the cooling balm to the linen, Carrie glanced back at Muryllis. "If you want some rest, I'd reccommend you get some now. This'll take a while and will seem like watching Muggle paint dry. Watching magic paint dry is much more fun, don't you agree?" she smiled, gently dabbing the burns on her arm again. It really was going to take a while.
Dozing off, he had been absentmindedly drawing patterns in the air with his wand, when Carrie's voice brought him back to reality. Waving aside the circles, triangles, figure-eights, and butterflies his wand had produced, he watched her work on Roan's scorched skin, applying a cooling balm to the burns which seemed to cover every part of her. Not wanting to be rude at all, he asked, "anything I can help with? There are a lot of charms I am familiar with, and I might know how to work something you need. You look really tired; I really could take over if you wanted." Stiffling a yawn and trying to appear useful, he swung his legs off the bed and walked over to her, twirling his wand. The wounds seemed to have gotten slightly better; only slightly.
"Since she's asleep, I guess it's possible to use a bit of magic on her; as much as she hates it, we both know it's for the better. Burn scars really don't look nice," he noted, remembering the burnt-down Muggle building a couple of streets away from Nostri Magi; the survivors were probably still nursing the wounds. "As for the Muggle paint," he joked, "I would personally just wave my wand and make it dry instantly. Either way, I have patience; don't worry about me."

Carrie shook her head at the offer of help. "Don't worry about it, I'll be fine. Kasey comes in to take me off in a bit anyway," she explained. But as Muryllis suggested magic, Carrie shook her head again. "Don't worry, there won't be any scars. I know what I'm doing, okay?" she smiled in his direction. "Basically I'm leaving them to cool down slower so that they don't dry up which magical healing has known to do. Besides, this isn't a Muggle cooling balm, you know. Magic has made it so it cools the burns down twenty times quicker than any muggle one could ever do."
With another smile, she returned back to work, swapping linen strips only twice. After about twenty minutes, the last linen strip was thrown into the bin. "Okay, done. Now all we need to do is wait for half an hour and then we can put the burn balm on. Should work within three hours to get rid of first degree burns, but I'm willing to bet these ones will take longer."
It was then the brunette nurse remembered something the Ravenclaw had said earlier. "She... hates magic?" she asked, her head tipped to one side slightly.
Sighing at the unneeded help, he came back to attention at Carrie's last question. Did she not know this? Apparently his description of the prior encounter in the dueling hall had made her seem like a fanatic of magic. "That's the thing; she is an avid user of magic, as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, she has a catch, quite odd for her: she is afraid of having magic used on her. The reason she was just in the dueling hall was that she was trying to overcome her fear of it. Quite stupidly, however, she decided to do this by casting all kinds of offensive spells at a Volley Wall enchantment."
Looking back at the slumbering Roan, he proceeded. "I found her, but decided not to interfere at the time. However, after the last magnified fireball, I rushed in and made her stop. Not that she could do anything more," he added, producing the poor girl's equally poor wand. The entire wooden body was scorched, and a piece of the Phoenix tail feather, still letting off the odd spark, could be seen sticking through an unhealthy-looking crack in the wood.
Carrie had listened to everything Muryllis had said, and turned to look at the wand. "Whoa..." she whispered, shaking her head. Things really hadn't gone well in the duelling hall by the sounds of things. Hadn't gone well at all.
Putting an enchantment on the linen cloths to swap every five minutes and keep going with the cooling balm, Carrie turned her chair round. "She can't keep going on like this. Really, she can't..." the brunette girl explained, racking her brains for something which could be used as a suggestion for how it could be stopped.
Eventually, she said: "Do you know if she's applied for extra lessons which could help? Or.. I can't remember if it was here, MH or in Germany... but somewhere had a Duelling Club, as well. Maybe if she could go to them, it would be better," she pondered, glancing back at the linen. The burns had stopped steaming now, meaning they were cool and the burn balm could be applied.
Turning to the trolley and getting the tub off it, the same enchantment was used on the linen cloths and the burn balm began to apply itself. Looking at the way things were healing up, maybe Roan wouldn't be in here any longer than two nights. All she needed was to be kept cool, have some rest and mail order a new wand. Reparo was not going to do the trick with the battered wand.
Plucking the patient chart from the bottom of the bed, Carrie quickly filled out the name, house and year. It was only a few days before that the two had been in last so the details were fresh. "You know, if you two are in here this often all year, I'll have to have a whole seperate cabinet just for your records," she joked, putting the chart back at the bottom of the bed.
"Yep," replied Muryllis, nodding his head to Carrie's comment on the dueling hall incident. "What happened down there wasn't at all pretty. As for us coming here this often, something tells me, by the evil glance Roan shot me before she was knocked out, that we might after all be here all year."
Coming back to the bed in front of Roan, he sat down with his back to a pillow, twirling his wand. Looking back at the nurse, he noted, "I guess you can go to sleep; just tell me what to do and I'll do it. I can stay awake as long as needed, trust me." Besides; Muryllis wanted to 'chat' with Roan when she awoke.
Alright you guys, I missed far too much, theres no point in me posting >.< Seeing as she would have gone to sleep only a few moments after you used that lavender stuff...so Roan is asleep, and Im not posting IC...
