When Felix got back the excitement was overwhelming to finally see all his friends again that he had miraculously forgotten about a certain Ravenclaw who he had considered a dear friend. Remembering him at times Felix waited outside the corridor leading to the Ravenclaw tower only to never find Torrid’s friendly face appear around the corner. Many a times he had glanced at the Ravenclaw table and searched with his eyes, along the rows of students, for him and found nothing. It was as if he had disappeared off the face of the planet. Or at least gone into the woods and never returned. When ever Felix was at a place where they had been, no TJ. When he looked around the classes, Teej never appeared.
One time lying in Felix’s bed, up in the tower, he wondered where his friend had gone. A pointy square box, low and flat, poked his hand as he put them behind his head on the soft mattress. It was a wrapped in colorful paper, the kind that put smiles on people faces. A small card, with simple words of: “From: TJ, To: Felix” The sound of Torrid’s name in Felix’s head got his spirits high. Ripping off the paper with hilarity the item that was enclosed was truly delightful. The newest Relient K Christmas album beamed back at him. The memory of shouting out the lyrics in the Jokers bar was a joyful recollection. He had only heard the end of one of the songs before and had yet to go and buy it. It seems his lost friend had already been one step in front of him.
The Christmas present must have been lost when he got back and Felix concluded he must have missed it. Felix himself, forgot any Christmas gifts, because of his ‘adaptation.’ Felling sadness and joy Felix was determined to find where his friend had gone.
Running down the many halls, peaking in the classrooms. The Library, Feasting Hall, Asking a younger Ravenclaw if they saw TJ in the common room. All trails were dead ends. He knew he should ask. Who to though? Determined to find him he bore the cold and searched the lake, the greenhouses, and all the grounds. Had TJ just been avoiding him the whole time? Or was he really gone? Everywhere he looked, futile. Soon he started to ask. Finally a helpful Ravenclaw suggested the Hospitel Wing. Why? Had TJ been hurt? Did he break his leg or something? Running with Godspeed to the large wooden doors of the Wing, Felix stopped to catch his breath. The large threshold was bare and as Felix stepped over it he eyes scanned the rows of beds. Where was TJ? There, on the end was a bed. In it TJ’s lay as if asleep.
Felix approached with caution, like as if a deadly monster was the one in place of the Ravenclaw. What had happened? His body lay as if asleep, his face slightly stretched, as if still in shock of something. Eyes moving rapidly behind their lids. What had happened? Felix thought for the thousandth time. He felt so bad, not realizing that his friend was here all along. Nothing looked wrong, no braces, no cast, but something dearly was. The grief and sadness flooded over the young Gryffindor, a tear or two, no less or more, rolled down his pale cheeks. Why had he not come before? Slumping down into the chair that was near the bed, Felix said, not realizing he thought out loud.
“What had happened?”
