Rezna froze mid-step when Talon's broken vocal cords sounded words she never expected to hear. Turning slowly, as if the floor below her suddenly turned to glass, the witch faced her patient once again. The determination in his face, in his voice, in his eyes, inspired such dual emotions in the blonde that soon she was both crying and smiling, all emotions battling to display themselves at once. Reaching forward, without saying a word, she gently placed a cool hand on his wounded one, and just kept gazing into his blue eyes, smiling as the room exploded around them.
Even Forgoil's unexpected appearance didn't sever the gaze she had locked on to the man floating in mid air. She had never expected Talon to say the words "I love you" to her again, but the fact that he did gave her hope that maybe their feelings transcended their differences and very life itself. But the two had much to discuss since their last meeting, and that discussion was not going to become as grand a spectacle as their reunion.
By this time, Forgoil finished threatening physical violence on the nurse and Roan stepped up to the plate for her turn at bat. Rezna patiently waited til both friends and strangers had their turn to berate her behavior. Leseur surprised her most with his defense, no matter how slight it seemed. Didn't any of them realize that she was a medical professional who knew better than the rest of them combined what Talon could and couldn’t' handle in his pitiful state? Worse, did they honestly believe that Rezna, who had difficulty sending a stunning spell into an opponent, suddenly lacked all conscience and would knowingly break Talon's heart?
Of course, she hadn't planned on leaving her post until Talon had completely recovered. But her words were meant for Talon alone, not the entire Hospital Wing Circus. The nurse knew future circumstances wouldn't have allowed her to speak her mind to her patient openly, not after the way things had ended before. Moments ago, Rezna selfishly wanted to save herself from her own heartache of seeing Talon day in and day out, knowing he'd never be hers. She had no idea he'd shared her sentiments! With a smile meant only for him, Rezna gave Talon's hand the gentlest of squeezes before facing the vociferous jury. Her smile vanished instantly.
"That's enough! Visiting hours for the Hospital Wing are from nine in the morning to five o'clock in the evening, and you've all overstayed your welcome. Unless you're burned or suffering from an ailment I can't physically discern, I want you to leave. Now. If it's a dark wizard you're worried about, then stop. We would have made our introductions with him by now; if he really meant to finish off Talon, he'd have come here to do it more than an hour ago. Since either is the castle crumbling around us, I personally assure your safety. I invite you all to return and visit the patients in the morning, once they've had their rest. Leseur, you were a tremendous help today, I would really appreciate your assistance in the morning as well, if you will be available. But with the exception of Roan, I don't want to see any of you until then, is that understood?" Rezna Lardale demanded with a cool authority that would abide no argument.
