The sun had long gone down the horizon and the stirrings of Firefox University had grown still by the time the institute's young Headmaster arrived at the entrance of the school, carrying with him by locomotion spell the unconscious form of the bloody and beaten Roan Aliagh. As he charged through the Arch and up the stairs, he felt his muscles weaken as his thoughts were trained in three separate areas at once.
One, he wanted to keep running as fast he could. Two, he had to keep his focus trained on making sure Roan was magically following him and not collapsing on the ground and causing further damage. Three, he needed to get to the Hospital Wing. He needed to get to Rezna. In the Shadow War, in another time of emergency, it had been the connection between Talon and Rezna that had caused him to apparate despite never having learned the art of it.
So he hoped, however futilely, that keeping his mind trained on Rezna up in the wing might cause him to poof from his spot and reappear before her smiling face with Roan by his side. Unfortunately, this didn't happen, so Talon kept leaping from stair to stair until at last he reached the eighth floor.
The wizard barged through the door unceremoniously, gasping for air and closing his eyes as the locomotion spell completed itself and placed the lycan elementalist upon a nearby empty bed. The Headmaster collapsed to the ground, taking in air and feeling his insides crinkle as if his lungs had pieces of glass in them. Talon was in pretty good shape in general, but having run from the nearby town to the school and subsequently up eight flights of stairs without breaking speed had really taken it all out of him.
The sleeves of his robes were covered in Roan's blood, and in his hand he held the rather gruesome severed arm of the lycan woman, cleanly sliced at the shoulder and looking just as alive as it had been twenty minutes before when it was still attached. "Rezna..." Talon moaned for the Nurse, before catching just enough of his breath to give a louder shout, "Rezna!"
