Chloe watched the Slytherin girl leave. A steel look entered her eyes at Layne’s comments and as soon as the girl had walked out the door the blonde pulled out a piece of parchment from her desk drawer and an elegant peacock quill. She quickly wrote something on it and used her wand to transform it into a paper dove that flew out the door after the Slythern.
For your cheek I take 15 points from Slytherin and I award you a detention to be served tomorrow evening in my classroom. Congratulations. –Professor Vablatsky
With the dove leaving the class the door shut and locked behind it, leaving those who had not chosen to leave stuck in Divinations for the afternoon. Recomposing herself Chloe grabbed the box on the desk in two slender hands and began to walk in the front of the classroom.
“Divinations is not a precise art like that of Potions. For those not a Seer like I am it requires practice and a willingness to be open to the unknown. The great practioner can use it to prophecy while any regular practitioner can use it to simply shed light on the paths in their lives. For those of you who seek guidance from within yourself Divinations is a smart place to be. Normally I start out the year with something easy to interpret that does not require any skill at all. This year I have decided to do something a bit differently. Today, we will be gazing into a crystal ball.”
At that mention each crystal on the tables glowed slightly. Chloe held up the sealed box in her hands for the students to see. “I will not be asking you to See anything great today. There is an object within this box. I won’t tell you anything beyond the fact that it is solid and it is bright. You will be using the crystals today to try and figure out exactly what it is. This exercise requires you to be able to focus and it may take you some time. Points will be given out depending on how many details about the object you can discover.”
Turning back to her desk she placed the box back down and smoothed a hand over it. “Gaze into your crystal balls, focus on your objective, and look. See beyond what lies in front of you and instead find what lies here. When you think you know things about the object, or even exactly what it is, write it on a parchment and hand it to me with your name on it. You will then be free to go. Begin.”
{I’m not telling you what it is. Points for creativity, no wrong answers!}
