After the success of his first class, Forgoil Halifirien decided to up the ante and made things a little more interesting. The classroom was actually darkened from the inside and the door was locked securely, with the only key into the classroom twirling around the professor's finger. The grey-haired wizard was leaning on the outside wall right next to the door and in front of him were several chairs that he had pulled from inside the classroom and arranged them in a amphitheater-style. Above the door of the class, where it usually read in elegent cursive Defensive Against the Dark Arts it was replaced with two words in an almost barbaric script.
Halifirien's Labyrinth
What he had set up inside of his classroom was very, very unorthodox, but this was still just an exercise on a beginner's level...that would require a good deal of thinking and cunning above the beginner level. So he remained leaning next to the door with a little grin on his scruffy face as he waited for his students to begin arriving.

As Phugsius rouneded the corner his eyes fell upon the chairs outside of the classroom. This certainly was an odd arrangement. It then occured to the boy, as his eyes fell upon the teacher spinning a key on his fingers, that the last time he'd seen Forgoil Phugsius was a lot shorter and looked a lot younger. He was sure Talon had informed him of everything. Phugsius did feel a little awkward, but never let it show as his footsteps echoed down the hallway toward the DADA class.
Phugsius observed that he was the first person here and grabbed the center-most seat he could find.
"Hello Professor..." the boys emerald eyes darted along the sign that read:
Halifirien's Labyrinth
"A labyrinth, professor? Don't tell me we're going to be traversing it". His eyes gleamed with exciement at the prospect of this labyrinth and everything that could be inside of it.
Chika ran down the hallways as per her usual self. She was on her way to he second Defense Against the Dark Arts class. The first one had been kinda fun, but she had to remember to not fall asleep this time. She happy passed people by in the halls saying hi and waving hello to them as she passed.
As she neared the class room, her run became a skip. She rounded the corner of the hall that lead to the classroom. It was then she saw the professor out side of the class room. He was spinning a key on his finger. The next person she noticed was Phugsius, but she figured it would be better to talk to the professor first.
"Hello Professor" Chika said just as she reached the seats. She picked a seat to the left side of the professor. She then turned to Phugsius. "Hi Phugs". She couldn't believe she was talking to him like this again. A major improvement for her.
When she turned back around her eyes scaned the sign. It read Halifirien's Labyrinth. Chika loved labyrinths and mazes. " WOW, a Labyrinth how fun". Chika was ecstatic about this. Were they going to be traversing this Labyrinth, how fun.
The third student to show up for class was a particularly timid Gryffindor who honestly had no clue why he even took defence against the dark arts. It wasn't as if he was would be any good in a duel even if he did know the ins and outs of dark wizards as well every decent hex and jinx going. Still, he was a Gryffindor, and he felt compelled to attend this class, even if he was rubbish at it. It might have even been his performance in the last quidditch match that buoyed his spirits and made him think that today just might be his day, that perhaps he wasn't quite so useless after all.
Stopping outside of the classroom, however, the sandy haired teen knew that he had picked a bad day to turn over a new leaf. Halifirien's Labyrinth?
"Tell me," Ferris breathed softly, his watery blue eyes suddenly very wide. "That there's no minotaur in there."
Even the most timid of creatures has survival instincts.

Ryo was shocked to find the chairs of his second DADA class outside of the room. It was a fanned out semi-circle split into three parts. He had seen pictures from his grandfather's house of places that had seat in such an arrangement. An amphitheater he believed muggles called those places. Not noticing the Halifirien's labyrinth sign until he was about to cast a spell he mouthed the words for accio key. He had been able to stop his voice but not his lips. Not unexpectedly for his early level, nothing happened. The boy inwardly rejoiced for what he was sure was the only time not being skilled enough to cast magic wordlessly would be a benefit. After all, it was a labyrinth so such a direct approach would probably either simply not work or he would lose house points... or something.
"So, uhh, how is this going to be a labyrinth?" the fox inquired.

A ravenclaw student with sandy blonde hair and glasses resting halfway down the bridge of his nose made his way through the winding regal castle corridors only to halt with a start before his DADA classroom: the class seemed to be convening outside of the class rather than in it. Carefully scanning the scene, it appeared that the good Professor had taken the liberty of changing the usual sign above the class to Halifirien's Labyrinth.
Sam's brief perplexion turned to an accepting smirk, and he made his way to one of the seats up front. His chocolate brown eyes shined with excitement. It had been a while since the last time the thief had ventured in a labyrinth, or even a hedgemaze. This was sure to be as fun as it would be educational.
"Morning, Professor." he said with a garish grin and took his seat.

"Don't get cheeky with me, boyo," said Forgoil with a daredevil grin as he replied to Phugius' comments, "I didn't send the better part of five hours organizing this ta have the lot o' ya just sit out here, now did I?" As the other students started arriving, Forgoil nodded at them as they said hello or good morning but there were some that prompted a larger response from him. One Gryffindor, whom he believed was Ferris, asked if there was actually a Minotaur in there.
"Well if there is one I suspect that ya should bring yer ball of yarn so ya can find yer way out," said Forgoil in a serious manner as he looked at Ferris, "That is if it doesn't tear ya limb from limb and make ya dinner." Still keeping his craggy look about him, the professor turned to face the other arrivals but he winked at Ferris knowingly before greeting the other students. There was Kran, a new student who hadn't met with yet, Ryo, and lastly Sam. Smiling over at Sam, the grey-haired wizard clapped his hands together to get the class' attention before beginning with the lesson.
"Good afternoon class! As ya can see the setup is a little different from last time, but this is the first o' things that will be soon ta come. I'm a firm believer o' practical application and I certainly don't want ta go on lecturing about theory and then see one o' ya in the hospital wing because ya didn't know how ta actually use the spell," said Professor Halifirien as he walked in front of the door. Once he stood in front of it, he paused briefly before flashing those gathered a daring smile. "Consider this lesson like a game, because from play we can learn a great deal o' things but also keep in mind that these things are best remembered...lest ya befall some terrible fate while yer in there."
"It's pretty simple really: you are only allowed to use two spells once you enter the Labyrinth. The Protego charm and the Stupifying spell: these spells are integral tools in any wizard's arsenal against the forces out there that might try ta harm ya, in some senses stronger than Unforgivables because using these spells can disable even the most advanced practitioners if they hit. So today yer task is ta get in there and use these spells against each other after a minute has passed: the person with the most people stunned will receive extra points, as will the person that is left standing at the end."
"Be fore-warned though," said Forgoil as his face suddenly turned very serious, "I have left other surprises for ya in this maze o' mine and when ya see these ya'll be allowed to use any spells ya know against them, save the obvious frowned upon ones." Looking at all of the students in front of him, Forgoil twirled the key around his finger once more before it seemed to rise out of his grasp and unlocked the door on its own. "Now get in there, practice some magic, and try ta enjoy yerselves."
ooc: Now for the actual rules of this little experiment. Everytime you cast a spell, I'd like you to rule the dice mod. This makes things fairer in my eyes and makes it so someone can't go around doing everything right. So here's how the rolls work,
Protego If you roll an even number, you successfully cast the shield charm around yourself. If you roll an odd number, the spell is unsuccessfully cast.
Stupify If you roll an odd number, you successfully cast the stunning spell at an opponent. If you roll an even number, you miss your target as you cast the stunning spell.
If you encounter something else inside of the Labyrinth besides your fellow students, you are allowed to use any spell you deem fit to try to succeed. In that event, even rolls are successful casting of the spells and odds are misses. I'll be watching you and if you need help with things or I spot something wrong in your post about this, I'll pm you about it and try my best to help. Have a blast.DERP!

(This post doesn't show I've entered the Labyrinth, so no aiming wands at me yet, plz and ty.)
Sam listened intently as the Professor gave everyone the lowdown on this new labyrinth he had constructed out of his classroom. He rested his cheek on his knuckles as he listened quietly, trying to piece things together as they went.
It appeared a couple of the students just didn't have the patience to wait for anything else to happen, and saught to face this maze and each other at the same time. Phugsius took a stupefy charm directly to the face without so much as rising from his seat. Ouch.
Sam wasn't sure if he had cause for concern, but he had his wand at the ready at the cuff of his sleeve, just in case.
"Professor, I was wondering." Sam said at last, raising his hand as he spoke.
"Is there anything special at the center of the labyrinth? There must be some reason you're pitting us against each other, and using unknown sentries to guard this place, to boot."

As students started surging for the open door, Forgoil noticed how a stray stunning spell struck Phugius before he even got a chance to enter the Labyrinth so he decided to give the boy a fair shot at it. Taking out his own wand, the professor flicked it in a very casual manner as he said, "Finite incantem" and released the Slytherin from the spell. "Fair is fair Mr. Charadus," continued the grey-haired wizard as he smiled at Phugius, "Now get in there and enjoy yerself."
However not all of the students had entered the mysterious confines of his maze, and one such student was Sam Nanten who had an interesting question for the Professor. Smiling at the fact that the Ravenclaw had thought things through, the Scot gestured to the open doorway and grinned. "Now Sam, if everything was laid out before us like the pages of a book where would the adventure or fun be in that?" said Halifirien as he chuckled through his thick brogue, "However since ya asked, I will tell ya one thing. There is something in the center o' this little place and it is guarded by the most terrible o' all mae sentries. If ya make it that far, then I'm sure ya'll tell me what it is."
Forgoil winked at Sam and shouted at the rest of the students as he wildly gestured at the door, "Well come on ya slow-pokes! The early bird gets the worm, so get cracking!"

The first person to enter the Labyrinth happened to run pass a suit of armor as he continued to go deeper into the Labyrinth. Perhaps he should've been more cautious, perhaps he should prepared himself better, but the sound of groaning metal slowly started to pick up as the armor creaked to life. Staggering off of its mount, the automaton slowly reached over its shoulder and pulled a crossbow to bear on the unsuspecting Kran. Visor clanging down as it took aim, the armor fired but instead of a bolt there was a stunning spell aimed right at the Gryffindor.
