Thud.
Fiona sighed as she slammed a gigantic crate down onto her desk, not caring when the inhabitants screamed curse words at her. It had taken her quite a while to prepare this lesson and even longer to recieve the creatures by way of muggle mail- she didn't even want to guess what the postman had thought of them. Plus, she'd had to pay out of the nose just to get the damn things and they were probably going to be much more trouble than they proved to be worth. But that wasn't really her problem, was it? Nope. It was her unfortunate students who would have to deal with these little.. er, critters. Quite honestly, she thought that dragons were simple compared to what she was about to present to them.
"Settle down, everyone." She said, rummaging around in her desk for a bit and withdrawing a crowbar. "Before I unleash your next assignment, please make sure that you have the following sitting at your desk- a piece of parchment, a pen, a teaset made out of authentic Irish crystal, and a pair of good running shoes on your feet. You may work on this assignment with a partner, if you like, since I think it's going to prove to be a smidge bit more challenging than what you're used to."
She paused to wipe a piece of hair away from her sweaty face, and then proceeded to yank the nails out of the wooden box. The inhabitants chattered loudly and the entire crate shook a bit, as though they were eager to be released into the wide world. Just as everyone must have begun to brace themselves for whatever was to come, she decided to leave one nail in the box and turned to address them once more.
"My only advice to you is to be careful, and that all the information can be found in your textbook." She said calmly, sticking her crowbar underneath the last rather large nail. "And with that, good luck. You may begin." Upon yanking the nail out, the entire top of the crate magically flew into the air and all was silent. The creatures which had previously been whispering eagerly were now silent, as though gathering energy up to put on a real show. Of course, that was exactly what they were doing- for how else would Leprechauns make a grand entrance?
A huge amount of gold confetti flew out of the box, aided by a large rainbow and then followed by at least twenty of the little buggers. All the way from Ireland and dressed in a deep shade of emerald green, each was different in their own way- that was what the pamphlet had said, anyway. Some of them continued to fly around the clearing while others landed and began to explore the land. Fiona simply let them do whatever they wanted- her part in this was over. These kids had to figure out how to do things on their own at one point or another, and she figured that now was as good a time as any.
