ooc: God-Moding of Sylphy allowed. Em… pretend you were invited, people? Please? XD Fuu and Meg, I presumed that you would want me to say you two were there, so I did, but can change it if you like. Please forgive lack of imagination in title and... post too.... and ... em... that's all? Maybe? Gah...
bic: With a bright smile, Aednat brushed her hands on her denim skirt and looked around to check everything was ready. It was, wasn’t it? There was a long table laden with food and drink running the length of one full wall and Aednat, being quite hungry after all the preparation, helped herself to a toffee from one of the bowls as she continued to cast an eye over the room, scanning it for anything left unfinished or forgotten. It really was impossible to resist snacking on the food despite the fact that the party had yet to start; the tempting scents of various tasty treats filled the room. The corner in which she was standing now was, largely, purple-themed; it was an idea she’d had and become rather attached to. (For example, there were purple banners, and all the jellies in the bowls were purple too.)
This party had been organised by herself, Fuu and Megan, and for a number of reasons. She’d had the idea of a party of sorts for Sylph, who had just left the school gates as a student for the last time, but Fuu had turned her idea into a bigger project with the addition of great ideas of her own. Together, the three had plotted to create a party for Sylph and Ceiced, who were graduating- or had just done so, actually- and for those who had been given new positions. (Aednat, amusingly, had forgotten to include herself in this- who thinks to throw a party in their own honour?!- but not so Fuu or Megan!) Aednat was glad they were doing it, thinking it a really nice idea, even if she was unsure of how much she liked Ceiced after their last Charms class. It was nice, too, to congratulate Muryllis on his new title, even if she didn’t trust him very much.
Still, despite this party was for Ceiced, Muryllis and Sparky (and herself!) too, she hadn’t been able to resist setting up this little purple corner especially for Sylph. It made her so sad still to think of Sylph leaving. Already she was missing the older girl. She had left a fortnight previously, but Aednat knew that, although she missed her now, it wouldn’t be until September that she felt her friend’s absence most sorely. After all, one expected absences over the school holidays. Banners hung around the room reading “CONGRATUALTIONS SYLPH AND CEICED, GRADUATES!” and “CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW HEAD-BOY AND PREFECTS, MURYLLIS, SPARKY AND AEDNAT!” In this smaller corner, the banners were all purple except for the red and gold one with the Gryffindor crest displayed proudly. So she was being slightly preferential. So what?! Sylph was her best friend here. She was allowed to be a bit preferential in Sylph’s favour about this. The only wording on the banner here was “Comhghairdeas, a Sylph! Congratulations!” Aednat fully expected this corner to be occupied by Gryffindors wanting to give Sylph a good send-off and let her know how she’d be missed, but, like her, really sorry to see her go.
Her own gift would be given to Sylph later. She’d fetch it when everything was underway. And it really did seem as though they were ready for that. They hadn’t left anything out that she could think of. Music was playing and there were streamers everywhere, not just in purple or red as she had originally planned now that this party was for more than one. She ran a hand through her curls and smiled at her fellow party-planners, and then with a simple “OK, I think it’s all done! People should start arriving around about now, I reckon!”, she danced over to the doors, excited and a tad nervous in her hope that this would be a success, because she wanted it to be nice for those concerned, and threw them open, the clearest signal that the party was underway that there could have been. And then she set off out the door- although not before popping a purple lollipop into her mouth- to get their primary guest. Well, one of their primary guests, but Aednat was pretty stuck on the notion of this being a party for Sylph.
Her big, blue eyes twinkled delightedly when she spotted her friend waiting in the Entrance Hall. Now, how was she going to do this exactly? Sylph had sharp hearing and might hear her come along if she was paying attention, even though Aednat moved very quietly when she wanted to. On the other hand, if Sylph saw her, there wasn’t a chance of surprising her with a blindfold. What to do? After a moment’s deliberation, she decided to trust that Sylph wouldn’t object enough to the blindfold to start a physical fight, knowing that Sylph knew her well enough to guess that nothing more than mischief or fun was intended. Having decided upon this, she danced forward and, once she had been spotted, broke into a full run and pelted towards the taller girl, enveloping her in a bone-crushing hug.
“Next year you have to stay in Drakborough, you know,” she announced, squeezing hard as she stood there on her tip-toes. Immediately upon releasing Sylph, she pointed her wand and bandages shot out and wound themselves just once around those startlingly green eyes. “Nice! It worked!” she commented, ignoring any protests, having wondered if Ferula, used to bandage wounds, would create an effective blindfold. Then she grabbed Sylph’s arm and led her merrily through the hall until they came to their destination, resolutely refusing to answer any questions. When they arrived, she stood on tip-toe and untied the bandage, and all questions were answered by party-goers who had already arrived yelling “Surprise!” or “Congratulations!” to the former student of Firefox University. Eagerly, she peered up to Sylph’s face to gauge her reaction. It was horrible that Sylph was finished school, but it didn’t mean that they couldn’t have a great party.
