Everything was ready.
After hours of baking and getting everything ready, the Feast Hall had finally been properly prepared. With just a wave of Fiona's wand, a glorious dinner with plenty of sweets would fill the tables. Dumplings, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, apple pie, and three types of ice cream- and that was only the beginning. Overall, she felt awfully pleased with herself. It had been a lot of work to get everything organized in time, and it hadn't been easy. It was very obvious that the whole school was used to Talon being around and... the adjustment wasn't the greatest. A few of the house elves complained bitterly and she knew that there were adults out there who didn't like her. That didn't matter much to her. She was here to do the job that she had been asked to perform, and it was going to take more than a little hardship to force her to back down.
The feast started at exactly six o'clock. Fiona had already been there for an hour, just staring out into the growing crowd. It brought back memories of her old public speaking class back when she was in muggle elementary school. To be honest, it was the only D that she had ever gotten in her entire life. And just the thought of that was more than just a little bit troubling. Making a fool of yourself in front of a class of twenty was way different from looking like a fool in front of an entire school. Sighing, she rubbed her hands together and glanced down at the parchment that she had in front of her. She hadn't written out the entire speech, just parts that she could refer to if she got too nervous to remember what she was going to say.
One thing that helped was her manner of dress. She had found a very official-looking set of black robes in Drakborough just last week which were perfect for the occasion. Unlike all her other sets of robes, they didn't look like they had been burnt, chewed, thrown up on, used as a rag, or left out in the rain. Luckily, she had brought along just enough money to buy them. Some people probably found it odd that she felt a little more confident just because of some new robes, but it made sense to her. She had also actually done something about her wild hair- it didn't have that weird, musty smell to it anymore. One of the house elves had helped her to put it up into a neat bun, leaving a few strands out to help frame her face. Well, if she did make a complete idiot out of herself, at least she was going to look good doing it.
"Attention... attention..." She said, her voice a bit meek as she stepped up to the front of the room. This wasn't going to work. Pulling her wand out of her pocket, she pressed it to her neck. "ATTENTION!" The hall instantly fell silent, and she allowed herself to let out a relieved smile.
"Greetings. For those of you who know me, I bid you hello. For those of you who don't, I suppose I'd better introduce yourself. Professor Fiona Rigaldi, though please, call me Fiona. Due to the tragic event of Talon Windwaltz's disappearance, I have been named Deputy Headmistress in addition to being the Care of Magical Teachers Professor. I hope you have all had an enjoyable year here at Firefox University, and I hope that there will be many happy years to come."
"But now down to a bit of housekeeping. I would like to congratulate all of our seventh years, who will be graduating and going on to various jobs next year. To you I give this advice- do not ever provoke a spiny-backed mongoose. It will not be to your advantage. This graduation marks a regime change here at Firefox as well- Sylph O'Dell, one of our Gryffindor Prefects, and our Head Boy Ceiced are both graduating. I'm pleased to announce that Aedant will be replacing Sylph as Gryffindor Prefect, and Muryllis will be taking over the position as Head Boy. Since that means Muryllis can no longer be Ravenclaw prefect, Sparky will be next year's prefect. Congratulations to all three of you."
"And now, the moment I'm sure you've all been waiting for. The House Points have all been tallied and the final results are in. In fourth place we have Slytherin, with 126 points. Third place goes to Ravenclaw, with 144 points. Second place is Hufflepuff, with 167 points. And this year's winners of the House Cup... Gryffindor, with a grand total of 203 points. Congratulations to everyone from Gryffindor, you've all done a fine job."
"In closing, I wish you all the best summer possible. Stay out of trouble- don't do too many stupid things, because I'd like to see you all back here in one piece. I would babble on for another hour if I had the chance, but even I'm getting hungry. Enjoy your meal, and I'll see you all in September!"
With just one wave of her wand, the tables instantly filled with food. Gryffindor banners fell from the ceiling to commemorate the winning of the House Cup by Gryffindor, and Fiona Rigaldi patted herself on the back for a job well done. Once she reached her position at the front of the staff table, she grabbed a drumstick off the table and bit down. Ah, nothing tasted as sweet as success.

To any magical creatures or non-students that wish to "crash" this thread, you are reminded to do it in as peaceful a manner as possible. After all, this is mostly a school event and not an excuse to wreak complete havoc. Save that for later. xD
