The Feasting Hall was filled with students and teachers eating their evening meal. They sat at their tables, holding conversations with each other. After Drakborough, such conversations did not exist. However, it had been nearly two months since that fateful attack, and hardly a sign had been seen of the Lord of Shadows. His cronies had been around, but he had not...
With his absence, an uneasy peace settled over the castle. A peace now to be broken.
The doors to the feasting hall flew open suddenly, calling the eyes of all towards a druid robed in white, gasping as he half-walked, half-crawled in through the door. He was battered and bruised, a wound on his head bleeding freely. His long white hair, too, was red with blood. Several recognized this beaten man as Marcus Solomon. The man had been the former Deputy Director of the Confederation Enforcement Corps of the Division of Adjudication of the International Confederation of Wizards, and had also held prestige in the Intelligence Division of Office of Wizarding Research. He was the one who could tell them all about Scorpius and his allies. Thus, naturally, when he showed up in such a state, it caused alarm.
"It comes! It comes," cried the man, crawling towards where Talon Windwaltz sat at the professor's table. "Prepare yourself! It comes!"
Panting, he reached the podium in the front of the area. Leaning on it for support, his white eyes fell upon Talon. He spoke in a coarse, shaking, and bone-chilling whisper. "I've done something terrible... He's back. He's coming. He's angry... I... I tried... I managed to hold him off in England and then Ireland for a while... Distracting him... I thought that Korodin or Unknown would move in in his absence.... that there would be a power struggle... But, no... He beat me... So I tried getting to his heart... I took him hostage... The boy... Orion... I had support from the British MLE and and Confederation forces, under the Deputy Chancellor himself... But he beat me," cried Solomon. "The Deputy Chancellor and all of my men were killed... All but one. He fled with the Hunter, while I sparred with the Scorpion... He took me captive, and has now returned to Spain... And now he is ready. Talon Windwaltz, his allies are here. Syrus Korodin, Unknown, Vlad, Daniel Black, and Louis Rousseau... Scorpius' fury is greater than ever... And he's coming... The Great Battle, Lord Windwaltz... It is at your doorstep. The Confederation has forsaken Spain... It is too dangerous with them; they are too infiltrated... Talon... The students... They're in danger... You... must... seek the boy... the Great Hunter... He... The key is... He is the way to defeat the Lord of Shadows... A hunter of shadows, himself a shade..."
Solomon fell back, coughing up some blood. He was nearly unconscious, but still trying to speak. The lips moved, but he could manage to get no words out.bg
