ooc: This is continuing from the thread in the feasting hall. First post to Lucius
bic: It had been rather long and uneventful he spent some time with Dovie at Kihepa's Korner. there wasn't really much to do there. H had had a light lunch and bought his school books which now rested in the trunk at the foot of his bed in the Slytherin common room. In reality the whole day seemed to have lead up to now.
Earlier that day he had ran into a Gryffindor. It wasn't the most pleasant meeting, but in the end they had decided to have a duel to pass the time. And here he was, Malachy, newly made 7th year strolled on toward the dueling field. he had just finished dinner and was running spells and strategy through his mind.
Malachy not only had a wand at his disposal, he also had a silver ring, it was in the shape of a snake wrapping around his finger. The ring was actually a golem and it could make itself the size of a cobra. It was also a little venomous, only enough to knock someone out, making it a rather useful and favored weapon. he wasn't sure if Lucius would bring anything special to the battle feild but malachy sure would.

Malachy would possible have been more surprised if Lucius hadn't... Because a dagger was all he took along with his wand... Of cause, it would seem a little odd given the ranged nature of a duel, but Lucius knew what he was doing. Himself, had been pouring over his spell books for useful spells. Having been practising between the end of breakfast until dinner, he was sure he was ready. Of cause, his mainstray four spells were everyone's favourites in three of the cases; Flipendo, Stupify, and Expelliarmus... The fourth was more from his nature; Incendio. Not that he didn't know any others of cause... Those were just the ones he used the most.
After dinner finished, the flame-haired teen headed out to the fields for the duel... His trump card in the back of his belt, flame-retardant glove on, and his mind calm. Spotting the Slytherin, he smiled and walked over.
"Well, I guess it's time we began this eh?"
At that he stuck his gloved right hand out for the other to shake, a sign of good-will and all that.
Malachy was glad to see that he wasn't being stood up, so to speak. But he wasn't surprised Lucius didn't seem the type to back down. This wasn't a grudge match though Mal had basically smashed a sandwich into the teens face. but they where technically over it and they had nothing better to do.
Malachy shook the offered hand, noticing the gloves his opponent wore he wondered if he was hiding something or if he just liked the gloves. well it didn't matter. "Indeed we should." He replied with a polite smile. After letting go he turned to start walking a few paces away dueling too close together wasn't exactly the best way to go. As he walk those paces he made sure to note where the sun was in the sky., and searched for other natural obstacles that could either hinder or help him.

"But of cause..."
Nodding and turning to walk several paces, Lucius drew his dagger and his wand. While walking, he touched the wand tip to the dagger pommel, and effortlessly slid the fourteen inch wand into the six inch dagger with no more that two inches to spare. The two items glowed together for a second before leaking magical energy out and around into the form of a bow... Of cause, the only part that was solid was the dagger/wand in the middle as the grip... But Lucius knew he could pull the "string" of it, he had done so countless times before.
"So... You ready? I know I am."
Turning to face Malachy, Lucius waited to see what the other's expression as to his bow would be.
This duel, before it even started, was getting more and more interesting by the moment. With such a show of theatrics Malachy was wondering if he should expand Sning, that's the name of the snake ring on his finger, into a staff just to show off. However he saw the element of surprise as a nice way to get things done and decided not to make things too flashy, at least not right away.
Malachy smiled, doing his best not to show and surprise at the challenge and couldn't wait to start. He took out the polished ebony wand from his packet. The black rod a sharp contrast to his own skin which Malachy though ironic in some cases. "I'm ready when you are." he announced, after mentally asking Sning if he too was ready, as he faced Lucius. Malachy bowed to the Gryffindor as was customary, keeping his eyes on his opponent. He was ready.

Keeping one eye on Malachy, Lucius also bowed. Then, he readied his first spell.
"I guess I'll start the show..."
Curling his left index finger around the string, he muttered the spell name under his breath; "flipendo", which caused an arrow of said spell to appear on the bow as he was drawing it. Normally, Lucius would have removed his glove, and the resulting arrow would be much more powerful... It had annihilated a rock with a single impact, but he didn't want to do that to the Slytherin... So with his glove on, while still faster and more accurate than if it was cast by a wand by itself, the spell was as strong as if it was wand-cast at full charge.
"Ready or not, this duel's on!"
Letting go of the string, Lucius let the arrow fly directly towards the other's chest. However, the usual feeling of fatigue approching that acompanied the arrow was settiling in... He couldn't do many more of them...
Lucius was good when it came to power and it appeared speed as well. The Gryffindor's technique was also unusual throwing the traditional sense of dueling out the window. Malachy having seen the unexpected conjuring, that is the bow, before the duel started gave Malachy the chance and foresight to be ready to defend and hopefully counter.
As lucius got into his stance Mal had already been moving into his, stepping back and lifting his arm, behind him imitating the serpent that symbolized his house. Then as if controlling the handle of a whip he snapped his arm and wrist forward. "Protego" He shouted, the arrow of power smacked into the magical barrier hard even causing Malachy's hand to recoil at the unexpected weight of the spell.
Malachy used the sudden impact, the motion at least, to lift his wand again, and with a flick called forth his first attack, "Serpensortia" there was a flash of white light as a dark black and brown snake shot out of the end of the Seventh year's wand. The venomous, limbless, reptile shot toward the ground and quickly started slithering across the ground toward Mal's lion-hearted opponent. Malachy was no Parstlemounth and so had no direct control over his summoned serpent, but that's where the ring, which was now missing from the albino's finger, came in. Sning was alive, well sort of, and knew the thoughts of who ever wore him. Sning was also a snake and could speak to the serpentine creatures of it's kind, and so could act as a one-way translator.
Malachy's strategy was to keep the opponent distracted with multiple targets. Sning was familiar with the strategy that it's master used and knew what to do already. Sning Had loosed himself from Mal's finger, on his off hand, and dropped to the ground. The tiny silver speck that was the uncoiled ring was now also slithering at the opponent, and had venom that worked like a slow stupify charm, It's fangs where just big enough to penetrate the skin and inject the magical poison, and the conjured snake had the same venom as far as Mal knew. Sning was the one controlling the the bigger snake with nearly inaudible hisses. "Attack"
Mal was already raising his wand to the ready again "The duel is indeed on." he said enjoying the fact that he felt slightly numb in the wrist from his opponents last attack. this duel was going to be fun.DERP!

Lucius had spent days practising with the weapon he used... He had recently learned to control what form appeared out of the three he knew of. Focusing his thoughts on the sword form, the bow faded out of existence and in it's place, the dagger extended into a one-handed longsword.
"Snakes are less... Deadly... Without heads, wouldn't you agree?"
Muttering his favourite spell; "Incendio", Lucius let the sword blade shatter... Well... Break into several fragments, held in cohesion by the flames around the fragments. Using it like a whip, Lucius lashed it around quickly at both snakes' necks as they drew closer. After that, he let the sword snap back together and then return to the bow.
"And I have more tricks than that to my skills... Don't worry, I won't be boring."
Sning is tiny and with ease dodged the guillotine like slash of the whip/sword. Not to mention the ring was unbreakable, but heat was another mater, and could melt so instead of even allowing the blade to come in contact with the silver serpent, the Golem burrowed into the earth like a worm just as the blazing heat of the flame would have touched it. Now Sning was moth a tiny target as well being hidden underground. The only problem was that Sning was now blind to the world as well.
The summoned viper, however, was not so lucky. It was of flesh and bone which was far less useful for burrowing underground as Sning had done. The other snake was also about 5 feet in length, where as Sning was only about 3 inches long. The size difference counted in both mobility and speed, and so the larger of the two was sluggish in comparison to the smaller. the flaming blade severed the body of the spelled snake in to two halves easily killing the snake, which soon after vanished.
The conjured reptile's death didn't come without consequence to it's caster. It suddenly felt as if a white hot rope had sliced through his own middle. The animal and the owner had been connected by magic and so the pain was transfered to it's origin. the pain knocked the wind out of the Slytherin. And nearly made him keel over on the spot. Thankfully Mal hadn't put too much of his own power into the snake of it may Lucius may have won right there.
Malachy, gripping his chest from the pain decided that using that spell was a mistake that he didn't intend to have recur. he had Sning burrowing towards Lucius' current position so being quick wasn't that important, yet, but he picked up his guard as quickly as he could while catching his breath. "Boring, no... I like a challenge, Expelliarmus." He said flicking his wand out. Then as he was finished recovering he braced himself. knowing that such a simple spell might not hit it's mark.
(ooc: I thought I'd just say to treat Sning as, as much of a character as Mal. As in not killing him off without permission.)

OOC: I understand.

Lucius wasn't expecting such a swift retaliation... Swapping bow form for the recently found shield, he yelled the only defensive spell he knew;
"PROTEGO!"
The shield reacted and produced a convex barrier in front of the disarming spell... If he had been just a split second later, it would have hit him for sure... Returning once more to bow form, he did what might have been seen as idiotic or desperate, but was a calculated gamble.
Flipping the bow round so the string was against the outside of his forearm, then he turned his wrist palm-down. Pulling back the string as he muttered "Stupify", eight arrows of the stunning charm appeared on the string. Letting them fly all at his foe, he winced and shook his left hand, sending a spray of crimson down the grass form the six rents in his palm... The more arrows he fired, the more exhausted he was, and firing eight had drained his stamina for the first two, the other six taking his blood instead, thus causing his palm to be torn.
He had guessed correctly as far as his disarming spell went. he hadbn't expected it to hit it's mark, just wanted it to keep is opponent busy. Malachy was bracing to move as soon as his opponent reacted. Mal was enjoying the medievil relic display that Dante showed it was creative to say the least. but the next attack was rather unusual. Malachy was ready to dodge one bolt but one of the others hit its mark just as, he was casting his next spell. "Stup-" Before he could finish the incantation he had been hit and was Knocked out before he hit the ground.
~~~~~~~
Though unconscious this battle was not yet over. Sning, the metal serpent that was still tunneling beneath the earth, was still in play. underground, Sning was blind, the same way anyone is unable to see him through the soil. Even the heat sensitive pits that Sning, like other snakes, possessed where unable to leach a sensation through the dirt, and sticking his tongue out to smell the air was also useless. Sning was limited to his memory and sound. Though he had no ears, like other snakes he sensed vibrations through his chin.
Sning knew all to well how to use all his senses. and the blood dripping from the Gryffindor's hand was like a stead drumbeat, and the shifting soil under the soles of the young wizard's feet made noise as well. To say the least navigation was not impossible. Sning slithered on until he felt the dirt becoming more compact, which resulted from the weight pushing it down.
Sning was at at Dante's feet. He tunnled until he felt sure there was a foot to each side of him. The tiny siver head poked out of the soil just as there was a loud thump of Malachy's body hitting the the ground. Sning Waisted no time in springing himself at the nearest ankle, mouth open and needle-like, venom-filled fangs out and braced to sink into the the boy's skin. If Sning hit it would be, at most, a minute before the venom rendered the victim uncoscious. Then the venom would be gone. and the two wizards would wake up either here or where ever they where taken once they where found, in an hour or so.
(ooc: I thought a draw would be cool but if you don't want to end the duel now I can change the post.)
Panting heavily as Malachy hit the ground, Lucius let the bow fade away, and took the two parts of it from each other... As he was doing so, he failed to notice the tiny Golem erupting out of the ground... That was until Sning latched onto his ankle...
"Ow! SONOFA! Ow!"
It didn't even take a minute either... Took only twenty seconds from the teen's level of fatigue to bring him down. Sinking to his knees, he was trying his hardest to stay concious... Then he slumped forwards onto his hands as well... That didn't last too long as his arms started to wobble and then buckle under him... By the time he was front-first to the ground twenty seconds after being bitten, he was unconscious.
Sning seeing that he would have to wait for the two wizards to wake up, which could take a few hours, left the scene in order to get some help. He decided to go to the dependable trustworthy source. It could take hours to find the trusted parstlemouth at the school. Ashelle and Morgan would probably be roaming the halls on Prefect duty and could be anywhere. Sning didn't know where Gwen was living and so he had no clue where to find her, but He knew where Dovie would be. She didn't speak his tongue but she sensed aura and would understand him none the less.
Also, Sning had developed a fondness for Malachy's newest 'friend' Dovie. She was one of the very rare people who actually took notice of the little snake as more than just a piece of magical jewelry.
Sning raced his way out of the Arena and quickly head for town, as he did he expanded himself to full size. He was now a 5 foot, silver viper with empty fangs slithering across the ground. Not exactly un noticeable but the fact that he looked like a viper would keep people from picking him up.
Sning entered the shop unopposed as someone left the shop, it wasn't Dovie, Sning searched the small clothing shop till he found who he wanted and started projecting an faint aura of distress.
