Rin sat at the edge of the lake. The steady breeze played with her hair, throwing it back and forth.
"I remember. The breeze was just like this, that day..." Rin said to herself sliding off her boots. She slowly dipped her feet into the water.
She stared at her feet in the water. She could just barely see her black toe nail polish. It was just like this the day he found me.
She put her elbows on her legs and rested her head on her hands. Rin saw flashes of an old man with a silver beard and silver hair and that kind sweet smile he always wore.
A simple little tear ran down her face and dropped in the water. He gave me something when I had nothing. Her cross necklace dangled forward rocking back and forth.
He had given this to her right before he died. While lying in his death bed he said "I'll always be with you..."
If only he were here now. She thought silently. A frog croaked and jumped in the water. Rin turned with the little clear tears still in her eyes.DERP!

"Nice breeze we're havin' today, eh?" came a voice from behind the Ravenclaw student. Walking over to her so that he stood alongside her, there was a man with silvery-grey hair and neatly trimmed beard. He was wearing a leisure suit and he smiled at the seated student. He'd been wandering the grounds to clear out his head and to make sure that what students were still on campus didn't get into any serious trouble. He hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary by the time he had reached the Lake, so he decided to introduce himself and enjoy the setting.
"I reckon yer new here. Haven't seen ya around campus before and I usually remember a face," said the man as he smiled down at the seated girl. "The name's Forgoil Halifirien" He said as he pointed to himself "Used ta be a Hufflepuff when I was a student here, but ever since I graduated I couldn't really get over the place so now I teach here as well. Kinda ironic really, but that's what makes the job more interesting. So what's yer name Lassie?"

Ryo was beginning to get depressed. He hadn't heard from his best friends in months and was a little worried. Chances were that they were simply busy, but that didn't stop him from missing them. The boy had taken to hiding away in the library reading up on new spells and practicing them until he got them right. He silently wondered if the home school-esk approach to learning was frowned upon. He was beginning to get weird looks from the other snakes and perhaps rightfully so as he seemed to be acting more like a Ravenclaw. The Slytherin would have stopped long ago normally but this was a good distraction.
Distraction though it was, Ryo was finally getting sick of the routine. He decided to check one of the few places he had rarely explored, the lake. Not particularly caring for what to wear he donned some old jeans and the first shirt he could find. Ryo made his way down the many halls that finally led to the outside. The boy could hear a girl talking to herself at the edge of the lake. A man, presumably a professor, began talking to her.
Ryo walked up to them nervously, "Oh, umm hi. I'm not interrupting am I?"
Rin changed her gaze from the ripples in the water to the man standing next to her. She looked up.
The man had silver-grayish hair and a beard. "Indeed, it is a very nice breeze," she agreed. "My name is Rin Willow. What class do you teach?" she said.
Rin heard a voice from behind. She turned and found a boy standing there. "Hello. You're not interrupting at all," she said and smiled at him with tears in her eyes that she had forgotten about.DERP!

Ryo heard the girl ask about teaching. He was right about the man. Professors always smelled a little different. The boy had figured it had to do with how much magic they had come to learn.
The girl turned to him with tears in her eyes. It made Ryo feel sympathetic towards her because her pain reminded him of the fact that it was a painful truth that had brought him here as well.
"Well thank you. My name is Kanagawa Ryo. Just call me Ryo. Thanks for letting me stay," the boy responded.

Forgoil smiled as another student walked over and joined their conversation. It'd been awhile since he had seen any students in general, so the Scotsman thought it was good to see them on campus again. That and it might that he'd have to get his act together and reorganize his entire course. The boy that walked over to the girl and himself had asked if he was interrupting anything, and Rin made it clear that there was no problem at all with joining their conversation.
The boy introduced himself as Ryo, which the Professor stowed away in the back of his head, and after Ryo had finished his piece Forgoil answered Rin's question. "I'm the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor or if ya want ta save the trouble just call it DADA: most everyone around here does. I'm the man ta see if ya've gotta problem with what goes bump in the night."
"And believe me," continued the young professor, "Around these parts not only do things bump, but they make all sorts of bloody noises that it'd blow ya away. Ya lot ever heard tale of the Lycan Pack or the Castille del Nosferatu?"
Rin turned back to the professor as he started talking. So he's the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. That sounds interesting. Rin thought to herself.
Lycan Pack or the Castille del Nosferatu? She thought. "I've never heard of them," Rin replied.
A gust of wind came from behind Rin blowing her hair forward in front of her face. She moved her hands around trying to keep the wind from blowing her hair in her face when she felt that her eyes were wet from crying earlier.
She wiped the tears from her eyes. Another gust of wind blew, blowing her hair into her face again. She grabbed her hair and moved it so it was sitting on her left shoulder. She looked back to the professor.DERP!

The Slytherin boy sat down at the edge of the water and read his charms book. He was not in a particularly good mood since he had just epic failed with is charm spell in the feasting hall and covered himself in butter beer. He had changed his clothes but the failure still burned inside him.
"Okay Phugsius, get your head into it you have to do this!" he thought to himself. "incendio!" he waved his Red Wood wand and it started lighting up like a sparkler. "It shouldn't do that!" He screamed and sat down, clearly unhappy. He started reading his text book again.

Ryo sat listening intently. He had never known much about DADA or any of the other creatures roaming the grounds. He had many questions for the professor but he asked the one he hoped would answer the rest.
"Do you think you could teach me and Rin some DADA?"
The boy braced himself against the sudden gust of wind and saw what looked like a small fire cracker. A misused spell was cast. Having misused a few spells himself, Ryo knew the damage that could be done when misusing magic. He ran forward and tackled the boy in the hopes that he would be too disoriented to try again.

"Hey you! Get off of him! That's no way to encourage proper spellwork!" Ashelle had been out walking her Malamute, Raiku, when she spotted a Slytherin boy attacking another who seemed to be trying to master a fire spell. She raced over with Raiku at her heels. "Get off of him, or I will report you to your Head of House and give you detention!" Unfortunately, the moment she and Raiku got there Raiku leaped and landed on top of the Slytherin boy-pile! Ashelle slapped a hand to her forehead. The dog thought they were playing.
"Raiku! Get OFF! HEAL!" she ordered in a loud yet lower tone than usual. Raiku understood she meant business and ran back to her side, sitting and hanging her head, looking embarrassed. Ashelle gave her a glare, then turned the look on the two young men.
"What is going on here? Are you in the habit of attacking younger students who are trying to learn their spells, or did you simply think you could get away with it this time? Also, please don't feed me any malarkey about 'he's a half n' half or a Muggleborn'! If he's got magic enough to be here than that should be good enough!"

Phugsius managed to look away from his book in time to see a face he recognized from the common room come charging toward him. Before he knew it he was on the ground being held down and jumped on by a boy and a dog. "Get off me!" He pushed the boy off him and stood up, managing to dust himself off in the process. "Thanks Ashelle" Phugsius gave her a hearted smile, "but he's in my house and I suppose he wanted to get to know me better." he turned to look at the tackler. "If you want to know my name all you have to do is ask, mate."
He knew he was doing a terrible job covering it up but there's no good way to cover up someone tackling you out of the blue like that. "So what's your name, friend?" He said looking at the boy

Professor Halifirien was very surprised that Rin didn't know about the extensive rules about the surrounding area or the very inhabitants that made them so dangerous. It ranged from the unpredictable lycan pack in the Woods to the resurgence of a vampiric society at the Castille. The silvery-grey haired man was about to answer Rin's questions when the Slytherin student asked if he could teach them anything about the Defense Against the Dark Arts. He supposed that nothing bad could come from it and he replied, "Well I'd recommend that you sign up for the class once it gets started, but I could go over a few basics in dealing with the local denizens."
Forgoil was about to go into greater detail on the matter when there was a small crack and a brief shower of sparks a little ways down the Lake. Before he had a chance to determine what had made that noise, the Slytherin boy was running toward the source and tackled another boy. Then the problem heightened when Ashelle Rainer appeared on the scene and it turned more into a comedy than anything else. Chuckling to himself, Forgoil said to Rin, "Heh, well we'd better make sure that everything is alright" before heading towards the tangle of boys and canine.
"I think ya've misdiagnosed the problem Lassie," called out the Scotsman as he walked over towards Ashelle, "If anything thing at all, I think that someone gotta wee over-excited and jumped the gun. Now," said Forgoil once he got over to where the tangled masses were, "Are ya laddies alright or does Miss Rainer here have ta make yer boo-boos all better?"

Before the boy who tackled him could answer an older Scottish voice rang through the air, "Are ya laddies alright or does Miss Rainer here have ta make yer boo-boos all better?"
Phugsius looked over and recognized the voice as his DADA professor. In a humourous tone he replied "I believe we're both fine professor. We're actually in the same house" Phugs smiled

Ashelle looked up from the two Slytherins to find Professor Forgoil Halifirien walking toward her. Wait a minute! Ashelle did a double take.
"Professor! You're ok! Thank goodness!" Unbeknown to the two younger students Ashelle had been on hand to help heal Professor Halifirien's ((OOC: who's name is impossible to spell and needs to be copy pasted every single time)) wounds after some odd fight - one she'd never gotten the full story of.
"Well," she looked back at the two boys, "perhaps you are right Professor. Did Raiku accidentally nick either of you with her claws? I try to keep them trim, but sometimes the grounds are a bit soft - and they don't get dulled down like they should."
Raiku looked up at this 'Professor' person. He must be impressive to be able to affect such a change in the Leader like that. Raiku Barked softly -as only a Malamute could- to get his attention, then walked over and sat before him looking to be pet.
