A young slytherin boy had heard some students talking about a crypt a distance from the school that they went to. Why they went there the boy didn't care, all he cared about was that it was secluded. He thought he heard something about "kinky sex"
Phugsius shuddered at the idea of people desecrating the dead by fornicating in their place of burial. He was there to learn which he didn't think would have been disrespectful. He didn't know how spirits felt about wizards practicing magic in their tombs.
When he arrived at the Crypt it was wrapped with vines and the place was slathered in the stench of death. Rotting corpses and the ghosts of the people who inhabited them. Phugsius wasn't going to let that prevent him from getting a good days work into perfecting spells in an isolated environment. As he entered the tomb the stench of death got stronger and almost sickening. Phugsius didn't want to deal with getting tackled again though.
The tomb was barren besides the few rats that inhabited the place and the sounds of flies. "Perfect" Phugsius thought. He could get used to the smell if the place stayed secluded. He smiled as he took out his wand and looked at the crate.

Phugsius had been hard at work researching useful spells to use against vampires. It seemed unlikely that he'd become a fire elementalist. He had written a letter to Headmaster Talon but there hadn't been a response. He had to prepare in case a vampire came to him....
"Wingardium Leviosa" The crate rose and hung in the air waiting for a move.
Phugsius set the box down ready for the next spell on his agenda.
"Confringo!" The crate suddenly lit up the Crypt as it burst into flames. Phugsius grinned and took cover behind a pillar as he aimed at the crate. "Expulso!" The crate exploded and the shards of the crate flew all over the crypt.
Phugsius smiled and looked as he admired all the burning crate pieces. He had made a flaming stake cluster bomb. This ability would no doubt be useful especially when he faced his vampire enemies. Phugsius admired his work and then repaire dthe crate to try again. This ability had to be perfected.
Elle heard the explosions and smelled the ashes from several yards away. Interest perked in this young vampire, and against her more common sense, she approached the crypt, eyes flickering with curiosity. Who would be blowing up stuff in a crypt havened by vampires?
She watched from the crypt opening, one brow quirked and a half-smile on her lips. The fledgling didn't feel fear or amusement as she had when she was human, but a prickle of the original emotion flickered through her mind.
"It's kind of rude to blow up stuff in a sanctuary," Elle said quietly. The vampire moved with the liquid grace associated with her kind. That had been one thing, maybe the only thing, that was good about being a vampire. She was better looking, and she knew it.
Fortunately for this...student, she wasn't hungry. Not right now, anyway. Maybe she should have left him alone and come back later....maybe. Possibilities.

Phugsius had packed a lunch. He smiled with a sense of pride. The incantations "Confringo" and "Expulso" were almost second nature. He took an apple out of his lunch and started to munch as he sat on the ground. As he ate Phugsius turned to his green parchment notebook to find the next spell he had endevourously researched. He had listed some fire related spells. One spell disturbed him though as he turned the page one of the spells he had written down read:Crucio- Causes extreme pain to whomever this spell is cast upon.. Had he really written this spell down? He didn't remember it, but he must have been in a hurry because next to it was written UNFORGIVABLE.
Would he really ever use this? He didn't want to think about it. It dug at his mind though. Was his hate for vampires taking over him? Was his need for revenge tainting his brain into trying to taint his soul? Phugsius thought maybe just maybe if he just used it against vampires it wouldn't be considered unforgivable. "NO! IF YOU GIVE INTO EVIL, EVEN A LITTLE, YOU WILL OPEN THE DOOR TO MORE! ONE DAY YOU'LL BE USING IT ON VAMPIRES THE NEXT YOU'LL BE USING IT ON PEOPLE!" His conscience was bombarding him with screams against it.
Maybe it was time to try something... He put his wand to his head "Alohomora"
A picture of a door appeared in his mind, surrounded by darkness. Suddenly the door was unlocked and began to open.
A flood of memories returned to his mind. The night his parents had died, Hogsmeade, the vampire attack on his home, he even remembered when he had used an incendio curse on a vampire, the same vampire that had killed his family years before. It all came back to him in a rush of emotional pain almost as if the crucio curse had been cast on his emotions. He let out a scream of emotional agony and started to cry. All he had done while in England to the vampires, every deadly curse had been sealed away in his memory, by himself. Every look of torture from his vampiric victims, shots of firey light ending their lives. He wept as if he had experienced everything again in one moment. All those memories swept behind a locked door....
Hate suddenly poured into every vein in his body for the vampiric creatures who had slain his friends and family. Then one particular memory seared into his brain...
It was an early November night, slightly chilly, rainy, as usual. Phugsius was 14 and helping to rebuild houses after the war. He carried two wooden planks toward a ladder when something caught his eye to his left. It looked like.... no it couldn't be..... It had looked like his dead mother... he had to investigate. He walked down the alley he thought he had seen the figment of his imagination go. He turned behind him to go back and his mother WAS standing there. Phugsius was petrified.... "M-m-mum? he said with a look like he was about to cry. "You're alive mum?" He started to cry with joy and then his mother said something.
"Join me in eternal life, my son, it is not so bad"
"W-w-w-what?"
"Join me, son" she bared her fangs toward him.
"Phugsius instinctively raised his wand and before he knew it a firey light had been sent flying toward his mother and she had fallen limp to the ground.....dead....burning.
Phugsius returned to the Crypt and felt the anguish of depression fill his soul. Those THINGS had turned his mother into one of them. She hadn't died, she had become undead...
"What have I done?" he said aloud to himself. As if the memory had just occured in the crypt he resided in now.

Phugsius saw a girl gome down into the crypt. He couldn't tell who she was through the tears that filled his eyes. He wiped his eyes, "i'm sorry. I just needed a place to practice some spells." He assumed she was a student waiting for her boyfriend..... but then he looked into her eyes and saw a bit more clearly. He knew that look, it was the same look his mother had.... the completely soulless looking eyes.... He needed to get out of this place, she may be looking to feed.... BUT IT WAS BROAD DAY LIGHT!
Phugsius calmed himself down and returned to his normal thoughtful state for the moment....
"So, what's your name?" he kept the fact that he knew what she was behind his composure
"Cardinal, robin, squirrel." Bloodwing and Malachy Where walking around the grounds practicing some of their own magic. Malachy was using Bloodwings sense of smell and learning what was what so he could figure things out on his own. It had gotten late the sun had only just sank beneath the trees of the surrounding forest. It seemed the Slytherin had lost track of time.
They where about to all it a day when a new scent had hit him it was so faint even with Bloodwing's senses, that Malachy almost didn't notice, but Bloodwing had locked onto it. Malchy felt a mixture of anger, hunger and fear leak from Bloodwing to Malachy. "What is it?" Bloodwing answered, "It is a smell with out the warmth of life. Its a smell I over looked and it cost me my life." oh great that's wonderful but there was something else now that Malachy noticed it something else. "Human." Maalchy was off running toward the crypt. why was he always off saving people now and why wasn't he made prefect before now.
He came to the entrance of the sheltered part of the crypt. and he saw satnding there a lifeless corpse. He realized that he recognized her. From the common room She use to be a Slytherin. He didn't know her name though. And part of him wished he did because she didn't look bad. "Malachy don't get distracted, kill her." Those words wheree only heard by Malachy and the dragon was only seen by him. maybe Elle could sense the dragon too but only because she was the next closest thing to the veil.
Malachy ignored his familiar. He wasn't going to kill her she wasn't the one that specifically killed Bloodwing. Malachy fet his ring slthering into position so that he was clenched it the fist oposite Malachy's wand. Malachy was beginning to realize just how much power he had. It gave him confidence. "So, What is your kind doing on the school grounds?"DERP!

"Malarky, you need to leave" The boys eyes shifted from the girl to the newcomer to the crypt.
It seemed nowadays this Malarky bloke was following him everywhere, he wouldn't have minded so much except that now was a really bad time with a vampire in front of him and Malarky being on the other side of her.
"Malarky if you don't leave, there's no telling what will happen to you... or me" Phugsius's eyes bored a hole straight through him, his wand drawn and pointed toward the girl.
Elle's eyes flicked to the boy who'd appeared behind her. He looked..unsteady. Unstable. Blue-green eyes flicking, the vampire looked him up and down, then back at the younger student who'd been practicing spells.
Hmm. Sudden turn of events. She blew out air she didn't need, as vampires didn't breath, and studied this boy..Malarky? Hadn't he been called something else, before? Elle didn't remember. Her human memories were...hazy, to say the least. They both had wands, and the kid she didn't know seemed adept at fire spells. Great.
"I'm not here to kill anyone," she murmured. "Just looking for someone."
Half-true. Finding Romulus would have been nice. Finding peace and quiet would be more fun. Then again, she had come looking in here. And it hadn't been likely that Romulus was blowing stuff up. "You better back off. I won't hurt you if I can help it. But someone else might."
She remembered her encounter with Felix, and how Romulus had gone overprotective 'daddy' on the Gryffindor. Rather depressing to be followed around and disciplined by a boy who appeared no more than fourteen.
Malachy grinned So did Bloodwing. "Bet your sire wouldn't want you hanging around wizards unless you had them between your teeth huh." Neither Malachy nor Bloodwing knew the name of the one that had killed the dragon but they knew the face and smell this girl had the smell on her. Bloodwing was itching for vengeance. Killing a daughter or maybe bride of that blasted vampire would indeed draw him out.
But Malachy had other plans. You see Bloodwing was only held to this realm by his thirst for vengeance as soon as the thirst was quenched Bloodwing would pass through the veil never to be seen again. Malachy didn't want to loose his spiritual familiar just yet.
"Phug I know what I'm doing this vampire was just leaving." "WHAT! your going to let her go? Lock her in with that kid. We need to draw her sire." "No, we aren't ready. I'd rather not share your fate Bloodwing." Malachy stepped aside. as the dragon growled with distaste.

"well then Malachy don't blame me if you get hurt... INCARCEROUS!" Ropes flew out of the ground to restrain the vampire. He wasn't going to let this vile, deranged monster chase after them, she should even consider herself lucky, if she lived.
There was revenge in the kid's gaze, and it was her vampiric speed that saved her. She dropped down to the crypt floor, but one of the ropes did snag around her left arm. Snarling, more with annoyance than actual hostility, she tore at it with one hand, but it held her fast. The other end of the rope was on the ground, somewhere in the mess.
The Malachy kid. He spoke to something she couldn't see but could feel, like the brush of a cobweb. Either he was crazy, or there was a spirit around her somewhere. Frustrated and tired, Elle looked up at the kid. Her voice wasn't desperate, just calm and steady. She was being Elle.
"Look. You're pissed. Both of you. But whatever happened, I didn't do it. Malachy, I know you recognize me. I saw it." Her eyes flashed. "I didn't pick this. I don't want this. You'd think being immortal or whatever would be the best. But I don't want it."
She moved away from Phugsius, trying to put a few corpses inbetween her and his wand. "Keep shooting spells. But I'm not sticking around until I have to kill you to survive."

"If you don't want immortality then why not die? Why not let yourself be freed from your damnation!" She was a liar, like every vampire he'd encountered. They were telling you their child was lost one second and then their teeth were into your neck the next. "If you don't want what you have, then I will free you from it" A beat of silence in the tomb lurked for what seemed like an eternity, "Incendio" and with a flick of his wand the rope attached to the girls arm caught ablaze. Phugsius watched intently taking in what was happening in almost slow motion. Thoughts ran through his head like the fire which burned at the rope. "She's just a girl.
Malachy watched as his fello house mate attacked the Vampire with out provocation. The Vampire struggled to get her ankle free and than Phug set on fire. Malachy knew that if her pain was noticed by her sire neither of them would escape. "Diffindo" He said slaing the rope so she could shake her self free. before the rope burned her.
"Go, and let your friends know they have an ally in the wizarding world" That was a blatant out right lie. He wanted her and her kind to lower their guard around him. "Let them know I just saved you. Now GO!" Bloodwing sensed the lie and knew exactly what Malachy was planning so he didn't argue. Phugsius I think you need to learn a bit about Vampires before you get us both killed. This vampire here is new she probably has a sire who is extremely protective. if you hurt her you WILL be hunted. Isn't that right?" he asked looking at the vampire.

The Slytherin boy saw the rope release the vampire which he had caught. He eyed Malachy. He had to submit to defeat for now, but he knew deep down despite his hatred he couldn't have really killed her. "Just remember, Vampire, that you owe Malachy your life" With that Phugsius walked over to Malachy and brought his wand to his head "Colloportus" With that the door surrounded by darkness in the boys mind closed and with it closing went every memory that had previously came back to the boys mind. "Thank you for stopping me" The boy said in a calmed serene voice. I guess I lost myself for a moment"
Phugsius exited the Crypt and headed back toward the school the sunset at his back.
She knew immediately he didn't believe her. Anybody would say stuff like that if they were being threatened. Elle watched him as steadily as she could, but then the fire shot out. Fire. The vampire winced, jumping as another spell cut away the rope. Relief washed through her. Her eyes flickered to the kid, Phugsius, watching him almost stonily.
"Aren't you afraid of death?" she whispered. Pulling the rest of the rope away, she glanced down at the smoldering twine on the ground and another shudder rippled through her. She looked up at Malachy.
"Thanks. Really. I don't...like being this. Honestly." With the threat of death out of the way, maybe they'd be more likely to believe her when they said stuff like that. "But I don't want to die either. Thank you."
She looked back. "I won't tell them what happened. Because Romulus will come and kill you," she whispered with absolute confidence. She knew Romulus would do so. He was her sire, her protector. He'd kill this kid without a second thought.
