Relief flooded off Roan in waves that were visible on her face when Willow said she hadn’t left the pack. OF course she’d probably get in trouble for running off after the meeting to see Roan no less, but hopefully Fenrir would forgive his daughter more than he would forgive his granddaughter. “I don’t mean to cut you out Willow. I just can’t follow his laws. What he’s doing is madness, and he’s going to take down the entire pack with him.”
Her heart panged for a moment when she looked at Willow. Would the girl be dragged down too? No, hopefully Willow had enough human connections at the school to keep herself grounded. It wasn’t that Roan disliked her wolf side as it was wonderfully wild and free. She just knew that to totally succumb to it would get rid of human sanity. Fenrir had walked that path and now they had a madman running the Woods and he had others who were looking up to him.
“I don’t want to keep you away, but you need to be very careful about seeing me.” There was hesitance in her voice. “I don’t want you risking punishment at his hands or expulsion from the pack. Your friends and other students will need your voice to speak for them in judgement if I can’t drag them out of the Woods before the pack finds them.” Of course Talon would warn the students but there were always those headstrong Gryffindors who fancied a challenge or just plain moron first years who didn’t believe the danger. And Roan had no intentions of the pack finding them and sentencing. If she had to drag them out by their toes she’d do it.
Roan took a deep breath and she leaned against Muryllis as he wrapped his arms around her. She needed the calm. The lycaness felt weary down to her bones and knew there was a huge mess in front of her she needed to figure out. It was good to know there were people there to help her with it though. Her muscles felt heavy and her head felt like it was filled with buzzing bees. At least she had him there to try and draw her away from the problem.
Realizing that Talon was leaving she nodded at him, not willing to leave her place. “You’re welcome to put whatever charms you want here. But wait, before you leave…Aiden!”
The copper dragon had retreated to the kitchen for this meeting, and now he came gliding into the living room to perch himself on the couch. She took her eyes from him and went back to Talon. “Please take Aiden with you again. I can’t let him fly out in the Woods anymore and it would be good for him to have a companion who will let him out from time to time. If you guys have figured out a way to communicate then you will be good for each other.”
Aiden snorted fire from his nostrils, but turned and looked at Talon. The dragon did like the man and wanted to get out more. Roan would have asked about Song too but the black dragon was more bound to the woman and she had a much calmer and complacent nature. Not only that but with her powers she was safe to roam where she wanted, unlike the flashy copper dragon.
Roan glanced at Muryllis, sighing. “You’re not going to leave too are you?” She asked quietly. The lycaness didn’t want him to leave as she didn’t see him much and he was a source of stability and calm and safety at that moment. Having the one she loved nearby was helpful to her. But he was bound to Talon and she didn’t know if he would want to leave with him.
