Prowling near Talon with the hackles raised on her back Roan observed the wizard’s duel. She wasn’t sure what Unknown exploding the water would do beyond soaking her house and preventing himself from getting wet. She herself was not happy at getting wet because it dampened her affinity to her element. But then she saw the glimmer in his eyes and felt what he was up to. She didn’t need to see the silver in the water.
A sharp whine came from the wolf as she felt multiple small burns that were thankfully quickly alleviated by Talon summoning the water. Silver was a real enemy to lycans and Roan was not happy to even have to endure those few moments of having the element on her skin. If he was going to be playing with silver this would get dangerous for her.
Golden eyes fixed on her enemy, and she saw the red light flash from Talon’s wand. As it did, she tensed, ready to spring if she had to afterwards. The key would be to catch the Shade off guard so she could strike.
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
The unnamed wizard slashed his wand through the air, silently casting a shield charm, his eyes set on the headmaster. The stunning spell, perhaps the staple to any wizard duel, was negated. With a twisted smile, his red eyes making sure to find the blue eyes of the lightning mage, the nameless wizard aimed his wand... just to the side of the wizard, directly at the wolf.

Talon's stunning spell didn't work as it was simple absorbed by the Dark Wizard's shield charm. When the Unknown One's eyes made contact with the Headmaster's own, however, he had a feeling what was coming next. He pointed his wand at Roan's living room table and sent it flying in the way of the green light. The table crumbled to the tiniest particles of dust in a flash of fatal fireworks.
In the intensity of the moment, the Headmaster then began mumbling a spell on the nearby couch, which immediately sat upright and seemed to appear as if it were a very well-cushioned sumo wrestler. The couch stomped the ground twice and hurled itself at the Dark Wizard to tackle him to the ground.
He'd apologize for the destruction caused to the house later, but if the Nameless Shadow was prepared to kill tonight, then Talon wasn't going to spare a thing to chase him off.
Okay, now she was becoming less than useless. Now she was becoming a danger to Talon. If he had to go out of his way to protect her then he may not have time to protect himself if Unknown attacked them both. Roan felt a pang of regret she had not felt for a long time. She missed her wand and she missed her magic because in a fight like this there was nothing that she could do.
But should she just up and leave Talon in the room? Roan didn’t like that idea. No, the loyalty in her would not allowed her to just up and abandon the Headmaster unless he sincerely ordered her to. Maybe not even then.
Screw the house and forget about me Talon, just take him down! Roan let her mental thoughts run to him, ignoring the fact her house was being trashed. She could always write to her family’s accountant and have them send her enough money to build a new one. Those filthy muggle morons were rolling in cash and wouldn’t notice it gone.
As the Sumo wrestler of her chair lunged, so did the wolf in a reddish brown blur. A feral and wild growl ripped from her throat as she did, and her teeth were bared ready to meet flesh.
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
Of all the would-be-heroes in the wizarding community of Spain, and there were a lot, the nameless shadow always liked Talon the most. The transfiguration of the couch into a sumo wrestler was one of the reasons why. The man enjoyed his fun, and the unknown one would have greatly enjoyed it, too, had the wolf not lunged at him.
Just before both the wolf and the sumo couch would have landed on him, he simply disapparated with a cracking sound, and then with a wooshing sound he materialized on the staircase, where Roan had stood before, his wand aimed at the space where he had just been standing, where the couch and wolf undoubtedly were. Unlike Windwaltz, the shade's goal was simply to destroy. And so he did, silently casting the powerful Bombarda Maxima spell.

Talon's lost control of his couch wrestler as his attention snapped immediately to the Nameless Shadow positioned upon the staircase. The Headmaster, for all his magical talents, was not a mind-reader and could not hope to fathom what spell the Unknown One was casting, except that he had abandoned the killing curse. Such dark spells required precise incantation to be performed.
"Roan, run, just get out of here!" Talon shouted to the Fire Elementalist, probably losing his chance for the element of surprise as he silent casted another Stunning Spell in the direction of the Unknown One.
Neither the sumo wrestler nor the wolf hit their mark. Roan found herself hitting the ground and taking a moment to regain her balance, looking around for Unknown. She didn’t have time to find him, the floor underneath her exploded sending wood and debris flying. It threw Roan against the wall with a yelp that was drowned out by the sound of the explosion.
The wolf stood up, shaking her head to get rid of the daze. Much worse things had been done to her than being thrown against a wall and it didn’t take her long. She heard Talon’s shout and saw the red light flash of his stunning spell.
Roan was torn between what to do. Unknown had come after her! And if anything happened to Talon because he was trying to protect her then she wouldn’t forgive herself.
She couldn’t just leave him, she’d have to do something. Roan turned and sprinted out of the room and into the kitchen. For all the Shade knew she could have been leaving through the back door and into the Woods. But instead she wrenched open a door that led down to the cellar.
If she couldn’t fight, she’d go get a bargaining chip.
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
His explosion had sent the wolf limping away, and the only thing that the headmaster did was send another easily deflected stunning spell at the unnamed dark lord. He tossed the stunner aside with another slash of his wand, causing it to hit a shelf on the wall with a bang.
"Windwaltz," he spoke, aiming his wand at the headmaster, "You're truly my favorite, you are, but you have no place in this fight. That beast that just ran from the room owes me her life, and I intend to make certain that she makes good on her debt. Crucio!"
He wouldn't kill the only man he thought his rival in Spain, no, but he would torture him. He would cause him to feel the pain of death.

Talon watched as Roan limped out of the room and left the two wizards to their duel, and the Headmaster kept his wand trained on the Nameless Shadow's weapon, prepared at any moment to counter-curse the man. He allowed the wizard his chance to explain what he was doing, but as the Unknown One prepared to curse him, Talon prepared a spell of his own.
His heart lightened in the heat of battle as he thought of his beloved Rezna standing in the Greenhouses and picking flowers to her delight. He thought of the light of the Solaris flower tucked behind her ear and the feel of her hair running through his hands as she smiled sweetly at him and whispered tender words. "Expecto Patronum!"
At the same time as the Unknown One's terrible dark curse, the Headmaster's own powerful light charm filled the room with a brilliant light before the image of a shining lioness burst from the tip of Talon's wand and defended its master from the Cruciatus Curse.
Once again, the Headmaster silent casted a Stunning Spell towards where the Unknown One was previously standing.
While the two were going to battle it out downstairs Roan was heading down into the cellar of her home. Dovie had used it to store food before. The lycaness used it for different purposes. There were boxes upon boxes of her old belongings. When she had her own home the woman had sent for her things that her parents still had. They included books and clothes that she had yet to even open and instead had just stored away. All her old magical gear like her cauldron and her old broomstick were sitting in a corner gathering dust. It wasn’t those that she wanted though.
Roan went to a chest that was slightly buried under a few boxes. Her hands quickly threw it open and she dug through it. There were jars of the old flammable solution she used to do the alchemy, and the potions she had used on the dragons as well as old alchemy materials. Here were the folders with the notes on the dragons, and a few alchemy books, some so old they were falling apart. It was none of this that she wanted though, instead she found the small brown pouch buried at the bottom.
That’s what she wanted! Her hazel eyes glinting she grabbed it in her hand. When she had realized what the ring had endured at the hand…er, mouth of her dragon she had realized it was strong and probably enchanted. It was also silver which she was deathly allergic to and thus had to stop wearing it around. She had no idea that it was a ring of Slytherin’s and was going to mention it to Talon sometime but had shoved it at the bottom of the chest to be forgotten for now.
Until the Shade had brought it up and demanded it that was. And luckily for her the way she stored it made this the perfect bargaining chip. It had taken several weeks of shopping around and a large sum of gold to get an owner of a mokeskin pouch to part with it. Luckily her parent’s accountant sent her sums every month or she wouldn’t have been able to afford it and keep her wealth. Mokeskin made it so the objects within the pouch could not be summoned, and could only be removed by the owner which was Roan.
Holding the pouch in her hand she ran back up the stairs to where the duel was taking place. Her heart hammered in her chest. “If you want that ring back I suggest you stop what you’re doing right now Shade.” Roan said, holding the pouch in her hand and summoning fire into her other one. If she had to she’d incinerate it and he wouldn’t part of what he came after.

What the fuck? A patronus? Who summons a patronus in a battle against another wizard? And why was the nameless Dark Lord feeling a little nauseous? Probably for good reason. Maybe he had eaten something? Who knew.
Anyways, he deflected the stunner again, this time a little less adeptly as before, sending it up the stairs to smash into a sink. At this time, though, the bitch (literally) came back from wherever she had been. And she had his ring. He could feel its cold pulse even through the magic bag she held. There was a sharp cracking noise followed immediately by a woosh as the unknown one appeared standing before the lycaness with the fire in her hand. He held his own wand pointed up, a bubble forming around the two. He had created a powerful shield charm silently, the ring from his old friend being so close giving him the magical equivalent to adrenaline.
"I will leave this moment, Miss Aliagh," he said, holding out his other hand open to receive, "If you plant that ring in my hand. It is merely an old heirloom of mine, from my... youth. I trusted you to keep it safe, and I can tell you have."
He would get his ring back or someone in this room would die for it.
OOC: I’m gonna break posting order here for this, it seemed appropriate.
The Shade did exactly what she hoped he would do and that was turn his attention from harming Talon and to the issue at hand. His ring. She held the pouch tighter in her hands as he appeared in front of her and created the shielding spell. Her eyes flittered from Talon to Unknown, stepping back as far as she could to create distance. “Don’t come closer or I’ll destroy it.” Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of the situation. If it was no more than an heirloom of his youth then why was he so utterly desperate to get it back? It had to be more than just emotional attachment.
And if this creature wanted it back so badly she wasn’t sure she wanted to give it.
“There’s nothing to say I won’t just hand you this ring and you won’t turn on both of us again. There’s nothing to make you keep your word, and I don’t trust you.” Why should she trust the Shade who had tried to kill her with a killing curse? Or who had been attacking Talon.
“And I am the one with the bargaining chip here, so don’t you go trying to cut deals. I told you to leave this house. You can listen to me or I can destroy this ring here.” Roan let the fire in her spare hand grow as she stared down the Shade with hazel eyes that were ablaze.

The Headmaster's heart leaped in his chest as he began to realize what exactly this whole affair was about. So Roan was in possession of a certain Ring of the Unknown One, and wanted it back? The dark wizard claimed that he had saved her life, probably in an attempt to appeal to Talon's virtuous side, yet the only reason he pestered this girl wasn't to fulfill an oath but rather to get back this thing which was so important to him.
The ring which was most likely dark in origin. The Headmaster's mind did not immediately jump to a horcrux - these instruments were generally darker than words could describe, and it was silly to imagine that every bad guy in the vicinity of Firefox would have one - but he knew it was something that was better left destroyed. Talon didn't just stand there as the whole conversation went on, however. He began to mutter an incantation, waving his wand in certain patterns to dispel the shield charm that the Nameless Shadow had cast around himself.
"Destroy it, Roan!" Talon said loudly, "don't bargain with him! Stupefy!"
Now the Nameless Shadow had a choice to make. Deflect the spell and lose his ring, or take his ring and become stunned.
Her eyes flashed to Talon as he told her to destroy it. This was her mentor and the Headmaster of Firefox, not to mention the man who had just come to save her. If he wanted this ring destroyed then he had his reasons.
So she turned her hazel eyes back to Unknown and clasped her hand with fire over the pouch, letting the other hand holding the pouch also fill with fire at her command. “Inflamare!” The heat of her fire would crush down on the pouch and the ring and would destroy it. Such was the nature of an elementalist’s fire.
So now the choice was Unknown’s, and he had precious few seconds to make it.
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
The sound was the unknown one disappearing just as he heard the spell being cast by Talon. The wooshing sound that was characteristic of his apparation almost sounded at the same exact time, as he simply appeared right behind the lycaness as she placed her hand with the fire on the bag holding his ring.
He had to act fast, faster than he had acted in a long time. While Talon's stunning spell rocketed at Roan, the nameless wizard kicked her in the back, sending her towards the spell as well as hopefully breaking her concentration on his ring. His wand still out, he summoned the bag and ring silently, his free hand held open to catch the gift from his last true friend, Salazar Slytherin.
