ooc: Zeph, thanks.

Gabriel had fled the library in to the rain. The storms had driven him off the campus. He was tired of it, and blindly, he didn't even think about the time. Dark, night. This was the first time he'd left the castle after dark in a long time. His hood over his head, Gabriel slowed only once he reached in to the town. Everyone that wasn't asleep had fled in to the bars and pubs, but Gabriel ignored them all.
Not once did he check to see if he was being followed.
As the rain became particularly fierce once more, he spotted a shape fleeing in to a certain building. Gabriel grinned. It was like something wanted these things to happen, it was always so damn convenient. He didn't have a wand this time, but hell, he didn't care. If it worked out, it worked out. If it didn't, he might get killed. Jail, possibly. Or just on the run all over again.
He didn't care.
Victoria didn't so much as touch his thoughts as he started for the building. He knew this building. It was the place of his debut for crime in this region. He had met Orca here, and the murder of that man. Who had cleaned up the dead man, and the pieces? Gabriel found someone had made an attempt to board it up once more, but already some one had broken in again. Gabriel ducked inside, shaking his hair and lowering his hood. He grinned at the man inside, who had jumped upon Gabriel's sudden appearance.
"Bars too crowded, eh?" Gabriel remarked, smiling faintly.
The man was young, but in tattered clothes. Likely, some boy on some dumb adventure. Here to seek his fortune hunting the vampires that roamed around. Funny how he referred to him as a boy in his mind, when the guy had to be older than Gabriel. With a sheepish smile, the boy nodded. Likely he had tried there and been thrown out for loitering.
"Blew up out of nowhere," Gabriel mumbled. He made a point of searching his pockets. "Damn. Haven't got a cig, have you?"
He didn't smoke, but the other one didn't know that. The young man did indeed have a cigarette, and mumbling something under his breathe, he leaned forward to hand it to Gabriel. The knife caught him in the stomach, and he fumbled towards his pocket. Gabriel grabbed him by the arm, and the knife sliced upwards, catching a rib bone. He could feel relief pass over him even as the blood seeped down.
The object he had been reaching for turned out to be his wand. Gabriel took it, pocketing it. Here the vampires touched his thoughts. Damn things, taking his wand. He muttered a spell, and the young man went rigid, hands clutching at his chest.
He still had time.
