After the weeks of cleaning the good old fashioned way, Dante wiped a bit of sweat off of his brow and admired the now fully stocked bookstore. Several of the volumes were from his own personal collection that he no longer held any interest in. The rest were donated by several people in his hometown in Northern Spain.
The shop itself was as clean as a whistle. The floors sparkled, the windows freshly windexed, and the candle light brightened the usually dismal main room. There was another room in the back for special orders and books on the dark arts.
This was something he had his sister had always dreamed of years before her departure from this earth. He blamed himself quite often for why she wasn't amongst the living anymore because he didn't stop a duel between her and a rival of the family. So he opened up the shop in her honor.
Flipping the open sign over, the wizard sat in a chair behind a large desk with a till, receipts, and plastic bags for the purchases that would hopefully be made in the future. Propping his feet up on the cherry oak desk, the blond placed his hands behind his head and waited for someone anyone to walk in.
"Let's hope my investment proves to be a good one," he muttered while twirling a quill in his fingers. After spending a majority of his life savings on this project, he prayed that this place had customers soon. Or else I'll be broke he laughed inwardly.
Though he was a Shadow, Dante still kept his cover unless the situation called otherwise.

"Soku do this, Soku do that... Soku does freaking want to do it!" The lavender haired man snarled to himself in a mocking pitched voice. Why he bothered - he didn't know. Today, he was to run errands for his step-brother, Frescan, and bring back supplies for some ridiculous 'war' they were having at the school. And then he was to take watch over some kid he didn't even know? He had better things to do than guard some idiot teen.
Haulting his huffish walk, Soku backtracked a few paces, staring up at a shop. Was this always here? he asked himself with an eyebrow raised, running a hand through his hair. Sure, he couldn't see the shop name but the young Shadow was still margin with curiousity.
Grinning slightly at the sudden warmth upon entering, the idea of removing his blindfold played across his mind. Surely it would seem more suspicious for a man to enter dressed as he was than without? Besides, he could see perfectly well without the cloth. Yet, as his fingers made to undo the knot, a close presence stopped him, his hands instantly dropping to his sides again. It was familiar, but from a while back at least.
Soku approached the desk, resting his hands on the wood and cocking his head slightly to one side with a small smile. "Dante running a shop?"

"Dante running a shop?"
Smirking, Dante stood up to greet the fellow Shadow. "Indeed, I need something to keep myself from the ministry's radar," he laughed. "So Soku, how may I be of help?" he asked curiously as he began to clean off a bit of the clutter that was on the desk and some of the bookshelves. "Looking for anything special?" he asked softly.
This was indeed interesting, seeing someone so familiar, yet so distant at the same time. "So how have you been old friend?" he questioned.
With a smile, Soku shook his head in amusement. Removing his blindfold without a word, his glowing eyes needed a moment to adjust before he looked back at the blond Shadow. "Try teaching kids how to recognise dark wizards, boy, was that fun," he laughed in reply, being able to look arpund the shop properly.
"Not really - I'm suposed to be running errands for Fresc. Stupid kid wants resorces for pranking," he rolled his eyes, unable to resist the urge to embrace Dante in a long deserved hug. "But, I don't supose you've got anything for the darker heart?"
Shrugging casually, the young Shadow grinned, "Not bad. Like I said, I've been up in Canada, teaching DADA." He smirked, gazing up at the shelves around him. God, he's got a lot... and god, it's bright! he whimpered mentally, rubbing his eyes. "How about you? Apart from opening up this place, how've you kept?"

"Heh, I bet," Dante chuckled as he returned the hug. "As for the pranking, look in hobbies, for the darker heart I can take you to the back room and you can browse around. I can't have students get themselves killed if they happen to pick up a book on the dark arts and try it out," he shrugged.
Hearing the rest of Soku's words, a blond eyebrow raised. "I never saw you much as the teaching type," he laughed. "But as for me," he began looking up at the ceiling. "Well trying to keep off the ministry's respective radar, I had a job making ice center pieces for a while, and making sure to make this place a safe haven for our kind just in case," he shrugged as if it was nothing.
"Ah, I don't know, might be fun to see one of the little idiots hurt themselves," he shrugged with a smirk, releasing Dante and raising an eyebrow. "Not the teaching type, then what?" he asked with mild curiousity, listening as the Shadow responded to his previous question.
"Sculpting ice, seems fun-ish," he laughed, stopping only to sneeze quietly. Cat, kneazle, something? he thought, ignoring the tickling sensation. Nodding, Soku grinned, "Well we shan't be hiding much longer..."

"As much as I agree with you, I can't have a law suit filed against me," Dante sighed shoving his hands into his pockets. "Dunno, I just thought it was ironic how a dark wizard would teach kids how to defend themselves from others as such," he muttered. "And ice sculpting wasn't all that fun, especially when most of the orders were to make swans for weddings," the blond sighed rolling his eyes.
Hearing the sneeze, Dante smirked before glancing toward the back room. "Yeah I know, and soon after we spring a few others from the prison all should be back to normal. Well at least for us," he shrugged. "Oh and sorry I didn't tell you this when you walked in, but I recently got a pet kneazle and he stays in the back," he smiled sheepishly.
Knowing that he needed people to help him out around the store, a mischievous smirk came onto the blonds lips. "So um, I was wondering if you would like a job here?" he asked casually.

"I supose. But it was the easiest way to keep my cover," he grinned, laughing at Dante's speak of his work in ice. He sighed softly, resisting the urge to sneeze again once he had nodded at the Shadow's mention. "It's alight, I'll get used to the odd kneazle," he smirked, running a hand through his hair.
"So um, I was wondering if you would like a job here?"
Raising an eyebrow at the sudden question, Soku's blue eyes trailed around the shop once more. He had nothing better to be doing, Frescan could do his own work. "Bit out of the blue, or had you being planning that," he asked with a small, soft smile, "Yeah, course I will, man. I wouldn't expect you to pay me or anything, though."
Post by Dante Rosmerta on Mar 19, 2008 6:27:53 GMT -5
"Nah, I'll pay you," he laughed. "But yeah I need help around here, and I trust you with my life," he shrugged. "And after we get the others out, my childhood friend Shiri will be working with us too," he smirked. "But since I am normally not around here at night, would you mind manning the place after hours?" he asked hopefully. "I have to normally run to Madrid to pick up some new shipments from a muggle friend of mine," he explained.
"And there is a three bedroom apartment upstairs if you wish to stay here as well," he shrugged. 'And don't worry Amadis normally stays around here and in the back room," he smirked.
Shaking his head with a smile, the man nodded, listening gratefully. Shiri? he thought in shock, remembering how the girl had spoken on moving to Spain when they were younger. "I take it with your words, she's one of us?" he asked quietly, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Sure, man. I'll do better at night anyway, it's quieter. Thanks," he grinned,"And, I'll be fine. Just the odd sneeze," he smirked, running a hand through his hair. "When'd you want me to start?"

"Indeed she is amongst our ranks," he whispered. "And I take all the blame for that," he muttered hoping that Soku wouldn't be mad at him. "And she still speaks highly of you," he smirked as he shoved his hands into his pockets. Looking down, he now had the perfect way to surprise his best friend.
"It's no problem," he laughed. "You can start whenever you want," he shrugged lazily. "And what are you gonna do about the step-brother, tell him to go shove it?" he asked with a smirk.
Raising an eyebrow at the muttering, feeling the shame well up within him. "As much as I don't want her involved, I cannot complain. We both chose this path, and so did she," he muttered placing a calm hand on Dante's shoulder. "About what, I never did anything to be spoken highly off," he laughed in confusion.
Shrugging softly, the man slipped his hands into his pockets, "Ah, Fresc can do whatever the hell he wants. I have better things to do than run his errands."

"She wouldn't have if I hadn't been naive enough to talk her into it," he muttered. "But the reason why she still thinks highly of you is because of your inner strength. So she says," he replied calmly still beating himself up internally for talking his best friend into walking the path the two men did. "Well I'm glad you have better things to do rather than being some kid's slave," he laughed.
Looking up at a clock, Dante pointed his wand at the open sign and flipped it so it said closed: Out for lunch. "So what would you do if you saw Shi again?" he asked raising an eyebrow with a sly grin.

"Just don't blame yourself... It doesn't matter, it's done," he shrugged sadly, hating the fact that the fellow Shadow was causing himself grief over what he believed was his fault. Walking back towards the bookcases that lined the walls, the man shrugged at the question, scanning the selection whilst he thought.
"Proberly hate myself for losing her when I did... Other than that, I'd be pretty much in an all time high," he grinned, glancing back over his shoulder at the blonde.

"Dude how did you loose her? She loves you and it's obvious that you feel the same," he stated with a smirk. "And don't worry when she comes I'll be sure to stay out so you two can have some alone time," he sighed. "But just keep it PG-13 or less," he smirked teasingly.
The more he talked to Soku, he began to feel confident in the fact that he would treat his might as well be sister well. "Just be good to her alright, and if you break her heart, I break every bone in your body got it," he said with a grin.
