The Slytherin sixth year scanned the book laded shelves. His wild black hair was braided in places - a result of allowing Ms. White to mess with it, and that he had not yet managed to unwind them.
Shadonious wasn't really searching for anything, just browsing. Striding a little further along them he tilted his head to one side, reading the words titled. Nothing seemed particulary intresting.
Frowning he pulled a large dusty hardback, laying it down on the nearest table as he continued to search. It was an old potions textbook, the only reason he'd laid it to read was because he needed to research. For as long as he could remember he'd been intrested in Potions. It intrested him in the way you could create liquids to change, to help, or to destroy.
Maybe, animagi? He snarled softly, pushing the thought away. Maybe he should check it, he had wanted to find out how it was done. Besides, a shapeshifter would be helpful in his plans.

Oh, the library was becoming all too familiar now, almost like a second home. At least it was in the eyes of a certain blonde Slytherin, anyway. In strode Thomas Lucre, dressed just as impeccably and gentleman-like as ever, but he had a bit a of a weary expression on his face. He sorely needed a break from his studies, but his presence here denoted the possibility that a break was not anywhere in sight.
Lazily scouring the shelves, he pondered where he had last seen the books on charms. However, he found the somewhat familiar mop-top of a friend from Slytherin instead, only now there were a few amusingly placed braids in his hair. Grinning, he disregarded a book he held and walked over to greet him.

"Hmm?" Shadow looked up from the shelves as the familiar voice spoke. Lucre. Grinning, he turned to face the blond Slytherin, shrugging in response. "Nothing really, just, looking."
Turning back to the book, he pried apart it's dusty pages. He scanned the table of contents, his curiousity had obviously got the better of him. His eyes flared in suprise as they found the words he had wanted. A dark smirk passed over him, his pale fingers turning the delicate pages.
Brushing a braid from his face, he glanced back at his friend with an eyebrow raised. I wonder... "By any chance, do you know much about Animagni?" he asked his voice soft. Unlike their first meeting, he was in a spirited mood, rare but still an expression he held.

Lucre's grin widened a bit more accomodatingly, eyeing Shadow's current literary interest. Lucre himself had thumbed a bit through that piece of material about animagi.
"Oh sure, I read that one. Its pretty cool, I had no idea that there were so few physical qualifications involved. What do you suppose your affinity for animals is?"
(Blech, crappy. I'm feeling really uninspired this morning. >.<)

(aww *shoots inspiration at you* tis kay)
Shadow shrugged softly, motioning for Lucre to come and sit as he headed towards the table. "I never really thought about it, something dark I guess..." He paused, thinking furiously. "Maybe, a wolf?"
His hopes had risen a little as Lucre had spoken. If he could master the art, it would benefit them possibly even giving them the edge against the ministry. Yet, the more he thought about it, the more he doubted he would be able to do it without support or a guiding hand. But he could try. Unless...
Grinning he snapped his attention back to Lucre, "What about you?"

Lucre casually took his seat next to Shadow, and he reclined in a relaxed sit. Reading would be a lot funner with a friend, regardless what the subject matter was. And even though Lucre didn't share the same obsessions as Shadow, he still was facinated by anyone's dreams of lofty aspirations.
"Well hey, good luck. Wolves are noble creatures by nature, but being that its you, I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding your inner-wolf." at this he stuck his tongue out.
"As for me, I prefer to go with something simple. People usually go for animals that can be all sorts of useful, particularly in combat. However, I've always had a bit of an affinity with cats. They just seem to like me, and I like them back, when they're not hyperactive adolescents, of course." he chuckled, thinking about the many different cats he had seen over the years. He wasn't really that obsessed with them, but he had to admit the creatures had their own natural alure.
"Maybe being so inclined to affection, I'd rather just have a form that's more down to earth, and requires less energy. Plus, well...." he wanted to finish that statement, that an ordinary house cat would be less conspicuous in a cause to overthrow the ministry. If such an undertaking is even possible. Lucre was still unsure if he even wanted to be a part of this movement, but he figured a cat would be able to get by pretty inconspicuously. He eyed Shadow as he thought this, wondering if he could actually match that thought himself. Afterall, there was no telling who might be listening, just like before.

Shadow supressed a short laugh as Lucre stuck his tongue out, instead taking his turn to sigh quietly. He was right, a wolf proberly wasn't Shadow. He leant back in his seat, unable to imagine himself as anything other than the human he was. "What would you suggest?"
Catching Lucre's eye for a moment, he realised what he was speaking of. A cat would be much better at getting into the ministry undetected. A small frown darkened his eyes, was Lucre accepting his proposal of a rebellion? Or just hinting?
Resting his head on a palm, he flicked roughly through the book. He hated to admit it but he needed help if he was going to manage any of this. "Lucre?" he paused wincing at what he was going to say, "Help me..."
Post by Thomas Lucre on Oct 22, 2007 11:53:58 GMT -5
It seemed Shadow had put two and two together, what with the subtle applications a cat could apply to something like spywork. Shadow seemed a bit hopeless in his plea for help, but Lucre right well couldn't ignore him.
"Hey," Lucre said, putting a hand on Shadow's shoulder. He then leaned to Shadow's ear, his chin just barely brushing against one of the boy's braids as his almost inaudible whisper was only loud enough for the boy to hear.
"I want to help you, but I think its fair that I warn you, my main reason for choosing the cat is because of how comfortable I am with them. Even if I was into this, I don't think I'm that powerful. Heck, I was adopted, so I'm not even sure how much of me is actually wizard. Yes, I am sure flithy mudbloods like myself have no place in your society, but there are still things I'm interested in changing." Lucre felt his stomach sink as he told Shadow this. Sure, the guy was stark-obsessed with the dark arts, but Shadow still seemed like a nice fellow. It was a shame if their friendship meant so little just because of blood ligitimacy and all that. Of course, if he really was that quick to frown upon Lucre for something he couldn't help, then there were probably gonna be some problems for him and Gwen. He wondered how the two were doing.
Post by Shadow Clearwater on Oct 22, 2007 12:44:03 GMT -5
It seemed as if they were on the same wave length, and that Shadow's desperate plea hadn't gone unnoticed. As Lucre's friendly hand gripped his shoulder, his muscles tensed slightly. He was grateful of the kindess his fellow Slytherin was showing him, but he was new to friendship eitherway.
Sighing quietly, he listened to Lucre talk. He hadn't really tried to be comfortable with animals, sure he had pets - but indeed one of them had been a wolf cub. He should still try, maybe. If it didn't help, well, it didn't help and he couldn't change that.
...flithy mudbloods like myself... Shadow jumped back, snarling slightly. Lucre was a mudblood? "What?!" he supressed the urge to hit him, calming himself mentally. He's your friend, you've already crapped up the rest of your life. Forget it... He shook his head softly and settled himself back in his seat.
Staring blankly at the book infront of him, "Then what should I do? I'm going to do this, because goddammit I need to stick to something in my life..." He growled gently. It had been his dream since he was a kid, and he wasn't going to miss an oppertunity - again.

Lucre watched Shadow's reactions carefully as he whispered to the fellow Slytherin, and it matched Lucre's expectations quite well. He knew bigotry existed among the ranks of Slytherin, even in this day and age. He pondered with a faint smile, however, whether that would become an issue with the girl he so pined for. Lucre had heard murmerings here and there throughout the wing of a few new romances sprouting up, including the likes of his very own with Lurielle Wington. He could only assume that Gwen and Shadow were the other couple the rumors refered to.
The feeling of anxiety seemed to have settled back on the shoulders of Shadow, as he slumped in his seat in what appeared to be frustration or even defeat. Lucre almost felt inclined to feel insulted at how Shadow's next words suddenly seemed to dismiss his interest in Lucre's involvement with his plan. However, Lucre was merely trying to be objective about this. Half blood, full blood, regardless of Lucre's class standing, his presence was hardly a contribution to this ragtag rebellion. They had Ryder Munroe on their side too, it seemed, but his involvement in this was likely lukewarm at best, much like Lucre. Even with his greater power, he was no more interested in playing this little game of cards than Lucre was, especially if they were going to be dealt crappy hands.
"Well, that's at least one thing you and I share in common." he uttered lazily as he reclined, setting all his weight on the two chair legs that still held to the floor. He was refering to Shadow's last statement.
"We both have a lot of things that need to be evaluated. And you're welcome to your opinions about my family's blood, but I'm still every bit as human as you. And again, I am sorry Shadow. I like you and Gwen both, but I won't let my loyalty to my friends be manipulated like some Gryffie to follow some shabby rebellion that has about as much a foundation as our own friendship. And if you're willing to let the biases of your family determine how you work with others such as myself, then I guess it's even more meager a friendship than I thought." Lucre's words, though soft, were sure to sting. At the same time though, it was only right that he show Shadow the true face of the one he wanted to help in this cause. Even with the level of condescending severity in some of Lucre's choice words, he knew that every one of them were correct to use. After all, he was talking to the supposed instigator of this whole thing. If he was going to do wreckless stuff like advertising the Dark Mark in the night, then he may as well jump into a tank filled with piranha (sp?). He was not the type to snitch, but he certainly had no wish to board a room at Azkaban Hotel simply because a mere acquaintance from the same house wisked him on this charade of a rebellion. And truth be told, Lucre was beginning to think that Gwen shared those sentiments. Though, he was not about to go and tell Shadow. He had already done quite enough meddling in their relationship, and some things should be left to find on one's own. After all, just because Gwen and Shadow were dating, did not mean they still did not have things to put out in the open. Lucre himself was trying to remedy the secrets his heart was weighed down with.

Morgan had been rifling through the animagus section herself, but her research was rather more daring. She wanted to know if one could have more than one form. It seemed that if one could master one form through hard work, the same should be true for multiple forms. It should be a matter of working at it, right? She hadn't been paying much attention to anyone else in the library, as she perused a dangerously tall stack of books, but then a voice she recognized spoke.
It was Lucre, speaking with another Slytherin boy in the section. She returned to her work, but when she heard the word 'rebellion' thrown around a coupla times, her natural Ravenclaw curiosity kicked in. She walked vaguely toward the pair, head buried in some book, as though she were unaware of them. She looked up when she got close. "Sorry, but did I just hear you two discussing a rebellion? Against the Ministry?" she looked the unfamiliar boy in the eyes. "I want in."

Groaning softly, Shadow rested his face on his palms. He'd gone and ruined it already, although this time he hadn't meant to do so. Staring blankly at the table, he closed his eyes for a brief moment. Hardly believing what he was about to say.
"Look, I don't care about blood ligitimacy. I-Its an act okay?" he grimaced slightly, his words quiet. "...I'm half-blood, my father's a muggle. You have to understand me because, you've proberly noticed, I don't have many friends." He folded his arms against the table, leaning his head against them. Even if it didn't seem it, his words had meaning. He acted pure-blood, it was just what he did. His words were confided in Lucre only because he valued the small friendship they had.
"Gwen would kill me if she knew...." he muttered softly. Shadow hadn't yet brought himself to tell her, afraid that she would leave him. The worst possible, leave him for Ryder, and Shadow knew they liked each other. And if that happened, he didn't think he could stand having to act, work alongside them.
Jumping slightly at the new voice. He snarled loudly, turning in his seat to face the girl. They really needed to figure out a way of talking about this without getting interupted. Shadow was rather taken aback, she'd found it easy to meet his eyes. His blue eyes looked her up and down as a smirk came to his face. "Sure, can you prove your worth?"

"Heh," Lucre paused, listening to his angst-ridden friend as he spoke. So it seemed that the big talker was only halfway along with many of the other wizards here, as well? He did not like to see Shadow so frustrated with everything around him, particularly the things that he could not change with all the magic in the world. Coming to terms with the problem, however, was something that made all humans special, regardless of their stupid bloodlines. He supposed it was okay to divulge Shad, now that the face of his egomaniacism was gone, at least for the time being. "I already told Gwen the same thing about myself. She and I are still doing just fine for it, too. Sure, she has a bit of a burn about muggles, but she won't hold it against you. If you go ahead and just tell her about it, I'm sure she'll like you all the same." he finished, with a pat on the back of his fellow Slytherin.
Their banter was broken though, by the arrival of yet another inquisitive library visitor. Shadow practically leapt out of his skin, but personally Lucre was getting a bit tired with being so on edge about this business. Plus, it turned out to be a very dear friend of his. "Hm? Oh hey, Morgan." he said casually, turning his head in response with much, much less jump than his Slytherin friend there. Listening to the Prefect, he found it a bit surprising that she would so quickly jump along on a bandwagon as this.
"Oh, so you think this needs to be done?" he asked, leaning his hand on the table. Well, one thing was for certain: regarding this rebellion, Lucre had had his fill of this cloak-and-dagger routine. No matter what happened, or how careful they were about it, it seemed like people whom weren't previously concerned with this mess were going to nose their ways into it somehow. He kind of prefered just being casual about it. After all, this casual conversation had piqued the interest of his gorgeous and brilliant friend here. Maybe her presence would actually lend some merit to this cause.
"So tell me Momo, why would you like to get into this mess?" he asked with a coy smile as he leaned on his hand, more interested in her thoughts about the politics of this issue than merely pondering what talents she could lend to their cause. He knew quite well she was easily just as qualified in her talents as any of the others, if not more so.
