Six chimes follow one another from the bell tower of the Firefox University clock tower. The sun was setting the western sky ablaze with a spectacular show of reds mixed with blues and tints of purple and orange. But that sunset was seen only through the window of the library for one particular Gryffindor student.
Ruusu was simply here for one thing only...to sit in peace and quiet with her pet and book. Of course said pet was Tumma, her black python. He was curled up on her lap, hidden by the folds of fabric that made up Ruusu's red and black skirt that she wore when not in school uniform. "Ji yeunn nindol tresk'ri zhah." She muttered to her snake in Parseltongue as she flipped through pages of her book. The streaming light from the window she was curled up next to had this habbit of making her book pages look different colors.
Though Ruusu minded not about the coloration of the pages, she was a bit annoyed with the fact she could not seem to concentrate on the lines and words before her eyes. Eventually that annoyance lead to her closing her book and deciding just to relax back in the chair and watch the sun slowly set on the horizon.

Malachy, had been searching up and own th many shelves that filled the school's library. He had about five books in hand already and As he felt his silver ring squeeze his finger he stopped and grabbed anothe from the shelf. See Six was enough he head for a table He wasn't really paying attention he sat the books on the Table near the Gryffindor.
The Book title all had to do with either Snakes Paseltonue, or magical translation. He grabbed the top of the stack. "A history a Parseltongues." The Odd coloration from the window squed his vision slightly. Na his Raised his won and said "Lumus." This wand tip burst with briliant white light canceling out the shadows cast by the window. He grabbed the nearest Candle holder took out the candle and replaced with his wand. "That's better." he said to himself and
Then he noticed an odd black glint in the girl's, sitting next to him, lap. He Couldn't help but look and he grind at seeing the familiar scale pattern. "Odd that a Gryffindor should own such a lovely creature?" He said curiously.

Ever since closing her book, the young Countess had been carrying on a conversation with her beloved pet. Her one and only friend. But a sudden burst of a blindingly bright light, at least to her it seemed that way, caught the attention of both her and Tumma. Turning her head, Ruusu tucked her chocolate hair behind her pierced ear to see where the source of the light had come from. Low and behold she found a Slytherin meeting her eyes.
"Ji kke ulu naut'kyn natha pooss ligrr." She whispered to Tumma before she noticed the books the boy had in front of him. Her facial expression turned to curiosity. Slowly she stood and walked over to him, Tumma making himself comfortable around Ruusu's neck. "Paseltonue huh? I speak it." She whispered quietly to him. So Ruusu was just a tad bit shy...but she had the reason to be.
"Um, those books won't help you a whole lot, but I'll teach you how to speak it if you'd like." Tumma made a hiss but to Ruusu she knew he offered to help as well. "Seems Tumma would like to help you out as well..." She trailed and looked the young man up and down. "You're in Slytherin aren't you?" She asked, her voice only just above a whisper. After the last few years, she had no reason to think anyone would want to talk to her.
(okay sorry to take so long...having issues with my kid. Unfortunately she's hungry and needs to be put to bed...I'll be back soon)

Malachy's jaw almost dropped when he heard the hissing voice she had use. He fit his ring squeeze, It seemed Sning agreed with Malachy approval. "I though Parseltongue was genetic... or at least not teach able. But if what you just said confirms what I was seeking to disprove..." There was too much going through his mind at the moment. He was no long even caring about the books he had picked up, and her status of being a Gryffindor had vanished from his mind.
He grinned, "Where are my manners? My name is Malachy and Yes I'm A slytherin." he responded lifted his right had. On his ring finger was a ring in the shape of a snake coiling around his finger. "I want you to meet somebody, This is Sning, Sning, this, these, are our new friends." The snake's head on the ring lifted up an the body be came slightly uncoiled as it turned and looked at the girl. He felt the rest of the coils contract squeezing his finger with approval, "I'm going to have accept your offer, By the way, what's your name?" He asked curiously.

"Ah, okay perhaps teach wasn't the proper word. You are right, it's genetic...through blood. Thus there is a nice potions that can be made from the blood of a Parseltongue; but even so, a few of the finer details need ironing out by a natural Parseltongue before you can understand everything." Ruusu was a little amazed all this was coming from her mouth, and so was Tumma, but never the let her pet found the proposition of his owner being friendly a nice change in her regular mood towards people.
The young girl smiled as she noticed the small silver snake around Malachy's finger uncoil. Tumma was particularly pleased to finally meet another of his own kind that wasn't one of the snakes Ruusu owned. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Malachy. And also a pleasure to meet you as well, Sning." She grasped Malachy's hand gently with her own and politely shook it as she added, "I'm Cou-...I'm Ruusu." She gave the boy a smile. Under the circumstances, she found using her title not to be a wise idea for this conversation. After all, it was her title that had doomed her from ever having human friends.

Malachy shook her had Happily, and wondered How this day could improve. After the two had let go Sning slithered the rest of the way off Malachy's finger. and on to the table And became the size of a Gardnersnake. "Malachy smiled. I still haven't seen his maximum size." He said half to himself at watching Sning change size. "So, Ruusu, you said something about a potion, and you sounded a bit doubtful. Is it experimental?" He asked wondering if he was about to be a test rat.
"It doesn't matter either way I'm willing to try, what do you need?" He asked curiously. Willing to help with ingredient if he had to. This was a one in a life time chance. and secretly he thought he might like this girl although that thought was being over shadowed by current events right now.

Ruusu watched with interest as Sning changed sizes. Tumma slithered his way onto the table to get a better look at the new serpent's size and perhaps make a new friend. In the meantime, Ruusu turned her attention back to Malachy. "It's not experimental. I've done it with others before. All it requires from you is a drop of your blood, a drop and Sning's blood, and one of his scales. As for me it's basically the same for Tumma and I. Once you have taken the potion, the knowledge should work it's way through your bloodstream to your brain, where it will implant itself and you will know the language. But of course, I will have to help iron out the fine details for various snake species, but that's a minor detail." She smiled.
Ruusu was pleased to meet someone who shared her love of snakes and so far had not given her any hassle about the house she belonged too. "I do warn that the potion does take about three hours to brew and thirty minutes after drinking to become active in your mind. So far the only side effects I've heard of is a slight headache from time to time but that's all." It seemed that now words were running from her mouth faster than she could stop them. But at the same time it was nice to finally be getting along with someone.

Sning suddenly looked up at the two speakers and a rapid succession of metallic whistle could be heard Sning was laughing, and Malachy knew why. "There is a problem with at least one of the ingredient you require." He said and then nodded to Sning who grew again and kept growing until he was 5 feet long and was abut 2 inches thick. he lifted Sning up a bit holding him so that he could show Sning scales. His Scales seemed fused together, Sning was like a sliver statue his scales where only shaped into the body. Malachy than had Sning open his mouth exposing his fangs which, at the moment, where about 1 1/2 inches long, but what Malachy was showing her was the back of Snings mouth; there was no Esophagus.
"Sning is solid silver from the inside out. And is enchanted to give an imitation of a living snake so He has no blood and to get a scale I would have to subject him to a chisel, which I won't do." He explained a little solemnly, but then he had an Idea, but it might be risky. "Would his venom work?" He asked curiously.

Ruusu watched all this with great curiousity. Until now she was under the idea that Sning was a real blooded snake. Which made this a bit harder. "Well this all complicates things very much. Seeing as those not born with the talent usually require a companion snake from whom the blood and scale would tie them too and help with understanding the language..." She trailed off, thinking about the problem at hand for a moment.
When he spoke about the venum she almost choked. "No, absolutely not. I won't risk it. Unless your body has a full immunity to it then the poison could react with the blood of yours, Tumma, and mine and become far more lethal." She stated, unsure why she was even worried for the well being of the young man. "But if you have a full immunity then yeah it'd work. If not, then...well I'm sure I can come up with something."

Malachy hadn't been bitten by Sning before and didn't know who resistant he was to it. This was one of the many times he wished he did have a real snake. "i have no clue if I'm resistant or not because I've never been bitten. But I know from what I've seen before that his venom isn't lethal by itself, Still." he sighed a little put out.
"Maybe I could become better friends with Tumma here." He said seeking that as an avenue. "It’s that, or I get a real snake. I wouldn't mind that there are definite complications that come with it. One would be Sning getting jealous." Sning let out an indignant his as if to say ask what there would be to be jealous of. "Also, as rich as my I am my parent's budget wouldn't allow spending on one, I'd have to get my galleons else were." He added.

Ruusu looked at Tumma then and Sning and back to Malachy. "Never bitten huh? Well I'm not going to risk it...I don't want you seriously hurt or killed because of this..." She trailed off as an idea popped up her mind. "Tumma, xal Usstan belbau ukta Rotu?" She spoke to her companion. She waited a moment as Tumma pondered the question before he replied back to her in the same language. She looked to Malachy then produced her wand and flicked it at a window, it opened and she muttered something.
It only took a few moments before a black snake, looking just like Tumma only smaller came sailing through the window and landed in Ruusu's hand. "This is Rotu, Malachy. He is Tumma's son and Tumma has agreed to let me give you Rotu for your learning and to have a snake for you to attacht to for the sake of the potion and further fine training." She said, muttering to Rotu before the tiner snake slithered his way toward his father and nuzzled his snout against Tumma's body then moved toward Malachy.

Malachy smiled slightly. it this would definitely be different. The constrictor, although young, could still over power him if it got carried a way, and it this wasn't like Sning, who was obedient because he was was enchanted to be. This snake would take time and effort together use to and vise versa, the snake would need to get use to him as well. Malachy felt a little awkward, but his affinity for the serpent was beginning to take hold.
"Well I think this will work nicely, what is their species?" He asked curious to know.

"He's a special type of African Rock Python crossed with a Reticulated Python. However, I've enchanted him to ensure he can not reach full size for safety. He's very obediant, won't harm anything unless it tries to harm you. He takes after his dad...that is, he prefers prey he can hunt rather than already dead things. And if he playfully nips at you, don't worry, as long as he doesn't draw any blood then he didn't have any intention of harm towards you. Oh and if he does get a bit out of hand at someone who may be threatening you, just place your thumb on the back of his head...he'll know to stop." She smiled, very pleased with her handy work as far as training her snakes went.
"Oh and if Sning has any issues with Rotu, please make sure to bring Rotu back to me unharmed. I would hate for Tumma to loose a son...it would devistate him." She sighed sadly just at the thought. Tumma seemed to take notice and rubbed gently agaisnt her hand.

She was talking a lot, and Malachy missed most of her explanation as he watched the snake. He responded to her last explanation. "And I'm guessing I'd have to Watch out if something did happen. Last thing I want is to have a Python hold a grudge against me." He said looking at Tumma. He would rather stay out of the coils of an angry Python. "But I don't think you'll have to worry Sning will translate if he must. and we should get along just fine." He explained happily.

Ruusu nodded and smiled, confident that there would be no problem in having pared Rotu with Malachy. "So returning to the potion then...um when do you want it brewed by? The fresher the drops of blood and the scales, the better the effect it takes so I'll extract them right before making the potion." She spoke, trying to shorten her sentances because she got the feel her talking was probably starting to become annoying, and usually she didn't talk this much to begin with.
