Malachy hugged back happy she was there, but again he had a horrible feeling that all was not well. And soon his Suspicions where confirmed. We was a prince who, from what he has heard. adored the countess, and he wasn't after her he already had her. They where betrothed, what could Malachy do.
His first reaction was the same as hers he embraced her again, as if clinging to her and not wanting to let her go. Confused thoughts raced through his head. This was impossible, well not impossible, but unthinkable. How could he loose her so soon to something as stupid as an arranged marriage but he need to know something. "But do you love him is this what you want, if it is tell me, this is horrible, but if this is what you want I'm not going to force you to stay with me. I want you to be happy." He replied some what frantic about the situation.

So looked at him, tears streaking down her cheeks and falling to her chest. "No! I don't love him. I love you. I want to be with you. If anyone I want to be marrying you not him. But its something the king himself arranged, there's no way I can get out of it unless you fight him for me. But you'd loose. He's been trained as a spartan...the warrior elite in the world. I don't know how his magic skills are...but considering my own from the tutor I had. I can say he's no push over."
She started crying again, burying her face into his shoulder, her tears soaking through his clothes. "I don't want to leave you or loose you, Malachy." She sobbed into his clothing. She didn't know what to do at this point. If she didn't marry the prince then she's be banished from Finland for disloyalty to the royal family and never be able to return home...and if she did, she's loose Malachy.

Malachy was caught off guard by all the tears and he took her in his arms again. Both to comfrt her and to hide her tears, which passers-by need to see. He surprised that she was the one that suggested a fight. Malachy would gladly fight for Ruusu he'd kill for her if he really had to. "Calm down. I don't like seeing you unhappy." He said soothingly.
Thankfully she was only his legally and not emotionally. Malachy had a chance to win her for himself. as he held her close in his arms he whispered strait into her ear. "I don't care if he's the master of the sword, or if he is as powerful as the last heir of my houses founder. I won't loose you without a fight." He reassured her.but what about Soturi. How was he going to confront him.

She was scared, so scared about all this. Especially when he said he wouldn't loose her without a fight. She didn't want him hurt or killed. Fights over royally blooded women often turned bloody and even lethal. She didn't want that to happen to him...but it was the only way she could ever hope to stay with him. Of course thoughts of a secret affair had also crossed her mind. But if caught, they'd both be sentenced to death.
It took the normally very composed countess a while to finally calm herself and cease her shaking body and crying. She looked up at Malachy and whispered, "I love you." Before she pulled his lips against her own in a deep, loving kiss that lasted several moments. When she broke she sighed, still savoring his taste upon her lips. "We should return. I'm sure you and the Prince have much to discuss."

Malachy kissed her back, happy she was their and now he was intent on keeping it that way. The kiss stopped and he nodded, "Indeed, there are matters to be discussed." He said as he took a hand and brushed it across her cheek, and wiping away the tears. After another few moments they returned to the table.
"Prince, I respect you your authority as well as your father's. However, Ruusu is a prized that I can not part with peacefully." He said confidently.

After the darkness ensued from Malachy leaving, He had remained in his seat, unresolved and unchanged. Spartan reserve if you will. He didn't feel the need to move, nor change sitting position. It may have been creepy to see him like that, he may have been dead. He was stone solid, but by the time Malachy had come back with Ruusu, he finally moved. He turned around and looked from Malachy to Ruusu. He listened to his words, to which he smiled as he looked at him.
"I wouldn't expect you to let her come with me peacefully, but she is not a prize to be won over my friend. She is a person that is going to be fought over to have right to love her. Peace is not how this will turn out, I know that. If you wish to fight, duel if you want, I am fair so I will provide you with what I will carry, which will most likely be my shield and sword with a spear on the side as a secondary. I prefer to duel by way of ancient Greece, its more fair that way. I hope you wouldn't mind".
A man can have the whole world, but he is nothing without a woman to love him.
"You must first define the prize. Before you start saying she's not a prize to be won. Her heart has already been one. But you duel for the right to wed not the right to love. A wedding band is the prize her heart is not." He said, reexplaining his prior statement. "If it is the Greek in the means that you fight then may Ares guide our blades and Eros fuel our purpose for I accept your challenge." He said some what stoic.

The whole time, Ruusu stood with her fingers entwined with Malachy's. She didn't know what to think anymore. She knew that not going with the prince by choice was turning her back on her country, but no matter how this turned out...she still had something. But the fact that Soturi wanted to fight what Ruusu knew would be like a Spartan, she was concerned.
This became more apparent when Malachy accepted the challenge. She was frightened to have either of them hurt or killed. She didn't love the Prince but he had been her friend growing up and he was the prince of the country to whom she pledged blood loyalty. But Malachy was her love and life...to loose him would be devastating for many many years to come for the young Countess. However, that didn't stop her from keeping silent. In the presance of men who talked of battle, a woman spoke only when spoken too.

"No, I fight for the right to wed and to love her. Don't be so quick to be correct. Ares shall guide my blade and protect my shield for I shall show no mercy nor shall I expect any my friend. I respect you Malachy, as you said you respect me and my father. I call you friend for I do not see you as an enemy, but as a man defending what he believes and wants", he said slowly and sternly.
He looked to Ruusu, this had to take more a toll on her. As much as Malachy may not have liked it, he was connected to Ruusu by way of their families and country. With that said, he thought that now was better than any to talk to her about a matter that Malachy had no part of. He turned his full attention to Ruusu before he spoke.
"Ruusu, I'd hate to break you from the attention of Malachy, but I have a matter to discuss with you. Its a matter regarding our country, I've got some news for you and you alone", he said warmly, though serious.

Ruusu was so distracted by what was going through her mind that when the Prince spoke to her she almost didn't hear him. Startled she nodded and gave Malachy an 'I'm so sorry.' Look as she released his hand and walked towards the prince. She had a sinking feeling in her gut about this. True his tone had been warm but it was serious.
Plus it was to do with Finland and that alone scared her since he said only she could hear what he was going to say. She bit her lip, what could it be? Would he be reminding her that by staying with Malachy that she was turning her back on her homeland...remind her that if chosen so, she would be banished from her home?

Malachy nodded silently praying that he would be able to stand a chance. He wasn't good with a sword. He had played with toy swords a child but that was about the extent of his 'training' with a blade. But Soturi had offered a secondary weapon, a spear. Malachy would have to negotiate that. He was better with a shorter polearm than a Greek Long-Spear. Malachy was better with a quarterstaff, not exactly Greek, but that would be his secondary choice. and Soturi didn't know about the silver serpent on Malachy's finger.
He waited patiently ast Soturi and Ruusu walked away.

Soturi looked to Malachy and nodded, then motioned Ruusu to follow him. He kept walking past several bookcases before he found a table that was empty and free from the ears and eyes of anyone. He motioned to Ruusu to sit and then he slowly began.
"First, Ruusu its not anything to do with what is going on nor what is happening. You can calm down, I'm not going to make you feel any worse than you already do. Its on the matter that we have to attend a few meetings together because they regard the nobility and I believe another has to do with the wolf population and adding to the numbers just abit. What I wanted to really discuss is that my little sister.. well she found out and now she wishes to see you when we have to go back. She's always wanted a big brother and because of what happened to your sister, I was atleast hoping that maybe it might make you happy or bring you some relief. Also I thought I'd like to tell you that my Spartan tutor has sent me a letter telling me that my final challenge is to be the usual rite as back then. He tells me that I must do this without getting caught, but as to whom I am to test on he won't tell me. I was kind of hoping you might get it out of him or something. Even though what is happening and happened; you are still my closest friend. I just wanted to let you know that. And I was kind of half hoping to just talk, nothing about what is going on between us, but just talk I hope", he said softly and warmly, with sincerity.
A man can have the whole world, but he is nothing without a woman to love him.
