She could feel him crumbling beneath her touch. The putrid stink of burning cloth and hair was heavy on the air like a fog. It mixed with the raw fiery smell as the inferno blazed around the two lovers. There was a bright satisfaction in her eyes as Roan watched Muryllis fall, as if she had conquered a large enemy. Seeing him burnt and raw as his wand rolled away made her want to laugh, but the bubbling bit of humanity kept that sound safe in her body. Her hands quivered with raw emotion and the flames burned brighter as she incinerated any emotions within. Crouching down she watched his eyes as consciousness fled him and nudged his body over onto his back with a rough push.
Just as she did though the door blasted open. Feral eyes of a wild animal snapped to the door and who dare intrude on such a personal and accomplished moment. Fury flushed her skin even deeper and the creatures of flame prowled with more intensity about the room. Though when she saw the intruder the smile returned to her face. How fate smiled upon her to let her take down one target to have another piece of meat walk right into her path.
“Hello Hawkins…” An edged growl toned her voice as Roan stepped over the charred body of Muryllis with the frayed edges of her clothes drifting over the mangled body. The hazel in her eyes had been overtaken by a pit like a sun and she held herself like a lion ready to pounce on her prey.
The feelings she had about this man weren’t as strong in fury as they were for Muryllis. But feelings of anger were there. How he treated her with contempt and his actions at the Hunt where so much pain occurred. Still her humanity drummed against her skin remembering the calmer time at her cottage. Weakened by the severe blow of Muryllis’ burning Roan’s eyes and body flickered for a few seconds as color struggled to retake her eyes. It was like a television tracking flickering. Straightening her shoulders she regained control and took another step towards Hawkins who looked as if he had ran to the Tower. Song shrieked behind him and the sound echoed above the crackling of flames and against the stone. She obviously wanted to run forward to her mother but sensed that something was terribly wrong.
“So, will it be baked or BBQed Hawkins tonight? I think you are due for a good smoking.” Roan purred as she sunk into a fighter’s stance with a whip of flame extending from her hand.
