April-May jumped as the voice of another came from behind her. Turned around a purple haired woman came out from the shadows. Listening intently to their conversation A-May was pleased that she had turned up. It was Sylph was Talon's mother and Talon did everything she said.
A-May watched her cousin for a minute or two as he sat there thinking. Whilst thinking she turned to Sylph and thanked her for showing up. She shook her hand and then turned back her attention to her cousin.
Kerching! went through her head straight away as he accepted to have an attempt at it. But then she knew she had to be civilized and stopped herself from saying it out loud.
"Thank you Talon, and thank you Miss O'Dell. Now what would you like me to do? How can I prove it too you that I can do this."
The violet haired deputy couldn't help but smile a somewhat wry grin at the headmaster's mumbled words, her mind casting back to a certain temperamental and decidedly uncontrolled fire mage. Roan never had got the knack of reigning in her power, and Fenrir's woods had paid the price for it many a time. It was useful, of course, in certain situations, but the former Hufflepuff's short fuse meant that inevitably the flame inside her did more harm than good.
But back to the present.
"Nice to meet you, uh, April-May, was it?" The purple haired witch blinked at the contrived forename, but said nothing more, choosing instead to hope fervently that the girl didn't have the middle name June. Besides, she was cut off by her lightning mage boss speaking about his family.
"She thinks you're dead?" It was said in a soft voice, low enough so that the other could feel it was acceptable to pretend that they hadn't heard, but she had to ask, had to get the jibe in. Talon was a nice enough guy, but he did tend to overwork things. "And who's fault is that, then?" But she said no more for the moment. This was between the family members, not her. At the hufflepuff's words, though, the conspiratorial grin returned, and a single jet black eyebrow arched above the rim of the sunglasses as she looked at Talon.
"Let's see, there is the matter of a little test, I do seem to recall. Talon, what would you suggest?"

Talon, as he did when April-May first mentioned his powers, completely ignored Sylph's comment about his Aunt thinking he was dead. Though there were many things he could say - something to do with him not knowing much about her, about him only being a child at the time, having been wrapped up in wars and struggles for power all of his teenage years - he simply passed it off as he accepted there was no way around training his cousin.
"Yes, yes, there's a test," Talon said, his voice dripping with dissatisfaction at the whole situation, "And it has nothing to do whether or not you're good enough. It's simply to tell which element rests within you. If you were a muggle, this whole test would require a lot more effort on myself or Sylph's part, but as you are a witch this may run a little bit more smoothly."
He stretched his arms out as far as they could reach and then turned them inward at the elbow, creating a right angle with his hands pressed towards his chest. "Sylph did this as well, when she was but a student learning from me. Hands are the way we as humans control things. From our earliest ages we understand that it is with our hands that we can grab things...change things...control things. And it is through your hands that you shall learn to control the Elements. Thus it is only fitting that it is with your hands that you shall reach inside yourself and pull it out."
Talon took a deep breath and closed his eyes, his voice becoming but a whisper as he himself reached inside himself once again. "Look within. Focus your magic. Reach deep within yourself. It shall roar within you, either a raging hurricane, a powerful sea, a blazing fire, or a shattering earthquake. When you have found it, and you feel you are one with it, call it out by its true name. If Wind, shout Anemoi, if Earth, shout Gaia, if Fire, shout Pyros, and if Water, shout Okeanos."
April-May was glad that her cousin had accepted to help her and she couldn't believe that she was actually going to attempt it.
So mimicing Talon's actions she breathed deeply. Thinking about the crackle of a fire, the shake of an earthquake, the noise of waves and the wind blowing by. Which one would jump out at her.
But for some reason the anger she had had recently was coming back and the crackle of a fire was growing into a burning flame which set rainforestes on fire. It was ablaze and was strong.
"PYROS!"
Nothing happened. She was disappointed in herself. She had expected it to work the first time. But it was now she realised that it never turned out to be that way. So once again calming all her mind off any stray thought. She focused on the anger within her. Everything which made her angry she thought off. The fire was ablaze. Whispering Pyros April-May shot her hands out in front of her.

The purple haired witch had remained silent since her suggestion to Talon. This was his show, and besides, she would feel distinctly odd taking charge of anything elemental-magic related in front of her former tutor. Instead she folded her arms across her chest, and as the headmaster spoke her thoughts turned inward, recalling that fateful day back in the owlery at MH. She had not stated any of the words that Talon had indicated; her first contact with the elements had been the dangerous east wind, Eurus. Dark skinned, brandishing a spear and grinning madly in the joy of his own wrath... even as she thought about his presence, the air around her began to move, and her violet tresses lifted slightly about her...
She reigned him in, though, just as she had managed to do back on that first day. It was no mean feat; Eurus was by far the most willful of the winds. From their folded position, one of her hands turned upward, palm held aloft to the skies, and a small glowing ball of energy appeared there, scantly larger than a ping-pong ball and bright yellow, the color of the dawn. She held it a moment, the light shimmering out through her slightly curved fingers, and then she released it to the air once more, bidding farewell to Eurus with a faint smile.
April, meanwhile, was preparing herself. The green eyes of the deputy narrowed slightly, wondering which path this girl would take, which element would show itself to her. One breath. Two breaths. Not air, not for her. Earth had Sylph felt most from her before, but it seemed that Talon's relative had other ideas. Forcing it, perhaps? The way she said that, it was almost hopeful - no! - there it was, but... oh.
Fire. And not the kind of fire that was productive. Sylph felt it, the onrush of heat. Aidana had possessed it; Roan had been ruled by it. Even as April-May pushed forward her hands Sylph felt a sinking in her heart. Fire. Why was it always fire?
"Anger is not the only way to call it," she murmured, a hint of warning in her voice. "Do not let your emotion rule you entirely..." She trailed off, unwilling to speak the words she had in mind aloud; It will consume you. Maybe Talon had been right. Maybe it was a bad idea to let her train. If it had been any other element perhaps Sylph would not have felt the dread grow within her, but fire was a dangerous tool. Of all the elements fire was the closest to the human spirit, the most raw, the most unrefined and therefore perhaps the easiest to call, but it was all the more deadly for that fact. She looked worriedly toward Talon, seeking his thoughts. Her own, meanwhile, were caught in a loop.
April-May heard Sylph speak even though very quiet. She shot a small smile at her and then got back to concentrating. Maybe fire wasn't the best one to have. So looking inside of she breathed deeply searching for another element.
The earth wouldn't beat the flame as it was so strong and it just burned. The water was so weak whenever it got close to the flame it would evaporate. But the wind wasn't strong enough either. However suddenly there was a massive flood and the flame disappeared and instead their was a pool full of water.
"Okeanos."

Shooting her hands out she saw the most tiny amount of water appear but then it went. She smiled; maybe water was the way she had to go. [/i][/color]
“Water. Cute. A much…safer element to be taught than fire if the great Talon Windwaltz is to be your mentor. I’d know.” Sarcastic tones that had not been heard in Talon’s office in a very long time broke the silence after that trickle of water had appeared. Roan had tried to visit the Headmaster on her last side trip to Firefox but he had not graced her with his appearance. Now she had heard voices in the office and decided to let herself in rather than wait for his approval this time. Much to her delight there was Sylph O’Dell there as well, an old friend she hadn’t seen in quite some time. The lycaness was standing in the doorway with a bag slung over her shoulder, wearing some well loved muggle clothing and bearing a grin on her face.
There were no dragons with her, they were currently in her hiding place she was using while visiting the school. If Aiden didn’t bring Talon out last time he wouldn’t this time. She gave her smile to both Talon and Sylph, not really sure what their reaction to seeing her would be. There would be time to talk later, now she seemed to have interrupted a meeting with another student who was trying traces of elementalism. How long had it been since she had sat in this very office and begged to learn to control fire? When she had gained Talon’s as well and became a formidable force in her craft. Those flames glimmered and danced behind her eyes as she looked at the Hufflepuff girl, taking her in a bit.
Finally, after what seemed like a struggle within the girl, she reached out her hand to the Huffepuff and tried to not hold her normal cocky demeanor. "My name is Roan Aliagh, fire elementalist. Sorry for interrupting your meeting with the Headmaster. If you wish I can leave and come back later. I do admit though I'm intrigued at the idea of a new elementalist on Firefox grounds." She had a questioning tone to her voice as she turned her gaze towards Talon. It was odd for Roan to be asking permission of this man who she wasn't sure if she could trust anymore, due to her lycan status, but she knew that this was a huge time for April-May and didn't want to butt her nose in where it didn't belong.DERP!
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night

Talon's eyes stared at Roan as she stepped into his office, looking a bit wilder than the last time he had seen her but all the same still the fireball that had stood by his side when he surrendered to Scorpius in the Dueling Hall during the War of the Shadows. She had wanted to keep fighting, and she loathed Syrus...no doubt, as the girl had endured hours of prison in that rank Fortress of the Shadows that was still lost.
And despite the fact that Talon felt significantly, and Roan clearly felt the same, that he had failed her every time, he still missed her and he missed every one of his students who had learned from him. She was like his sister and his child at the same time.
"Water, indeed," Talon said, his voice not ignoring Roan but simply adding to what she had said, "A rare case that someone could feel the flames burning within them and suddenly, almost from nowhere, spring out a fountain! Well, now that the Water has chosen you, for indeed it has chosen you, cousin, you shall never even touch that fire again. It is gone forever."
Talon stood up from his chair, walked over to the Lycan, put his finger on her cheek and examined her as if she were under a doctor's examination, and then smiled. "Welcome home, Roan," he said, addressing the girl by proper name, "I'd love to hear of your travels, and how your powers have helped you. You and Fire may have a love-hate relationship, but from what I've seen of you, you might've been able to give Firefox himself a run for his money!"
But as the Headmater returned to his chair, he looked down on his cousin with no look of admiration - in fact, his look was one of those awful looks that you just don't ever want to get. It was nothing compared to the reception that Roan had just received. "You did it. You're a Water Elementalist now. Until you have achieved some level of mastery within the next several years, it shall be your only element and the one that you shall covet. The water shall speak to you, shall tell you its secrets, and shall be your only true friend. It can either control you, or you can control it."
Eyes glittered in the direction of the office door as a new voice was thrown into the mix, still half-masked behind the dark glasses which now, Sylph realised, she probably should have taken off by now. The tones were familiar, but the deputy headmistress couldn't help but find them somewhat unwelcome at this juncture; the sarcasm was especially unnecessary. Roan was a friend, but for some reason the purple haired witch bristled at the former hufflepuff's presence. Perhaps it was her voicing her opinions on something she knew so little about; alright, so Roan had the power to call on fire, but she wasn't exactly skilled in doing so. Utterly uncontrolled, ruled by her emotion and her anger in particular... to Sylph it had always seemed as if the younger elementalist had never been, well, bothered to treat fire with the respect it deserved, or even to learn more about the ways of the elementalist.
Of course, that was all somewhat redundant now, for while Roan still possessed her inner flame she was no longer a witch; when she had been bitten, turned, that right was lost to her. As such there were limits to what she could actually do with fire. Still, for some reason Sylph didn't think that bothered the lycan particularly. As previously stated, Roan had never shown much interest in learning, not to Sylph anyway.
Her disrespect for elements other than hers was what really grated on the purple haired witch's nerves, though. Instead of greeting the brown haired girl immediately, she turned and smiled warmly at April-May.
"A sound... fit," she said, following Talon's words and looking far more relaxed than when the girl had called upon fire. "Remember, though, while water speaks freely to those it loves, it is best heard in whispers. Speak softly, go slowly - at least to begin with," she finished, her tones becoming far more chipper toward the end of her sentence.
"Welcome back, Roan," she smiled, retaining her cheerful demeanor, and there was no trace of her previous thoughts in her face; indeed, she was glad to see her old friend and ally once more. Roan and Sylph had been though a great deal together, and it had been Roan who had stood closest to Sylph's side on the dark day of the great hunt. "Where ya been?"
