At the professor's response to her question, Cassandra felt the edge of a smile forming on her lips. Of course, what better way to weed out the unruly, the students to watch out for, than to seemingly release them from class? Of course, even the vaguely intelligent would figure out that this was obviously a test, but...well, teenagers were still technically missing part of their brain.
"I graduated from the ravenclaw house a few years ago. As far as runes go, I've spent years researching them, and I've also published a book on the subject--in particular, it discusses the design of that portal, but it would probably be too difficult for a beginner in ancient runes to understand."
Cassandra's expression moved to a full-out look of approval. Not only was this professor an alumnus of this school, but she had been from the Ravenclaw House, and, like any true Ravenclaw should, it seemed she had continued her studies after graduating as vigorously as she had before. Excellent. Such a competent instructor that displayed so tangible an interest in the subject she was currently teaching was what should've been the norm, but even better was that Cassandra herself was genuinely curious about Ancient Runes. Yes, this drive for learning went beyond pride of wanting to be good at every subject that should come her way--Ancient Runes seemed to be as down-to-earth, applicable, and detailed as magic could get, and required careful planning in advance. Add to that the professor was expecting a quiz next class on all 24 of the runic symbols?
This was right up Cassandra's alley.
After neatly adding the professor's name to the top of her assignment and verifying that the ink etched into the parchment had dried completely, Cassandra rose to hand her paper in, carefully sidestepping desks and chairs on her way there. "If you would, Professor Monolayre, I'd appreciate if you could read over what I've written so far." She paused briefly, then felt her face heat at the recollection of how today's class had began. "I also apologize for my tardiness to class today. I've only returned to Firefox since this morning and I was running late." Yeah, late enough to miss every single demonstration. Good first impression, there. "It won't happen again."
"That being said, professor, may I ask what the title of your work was? I know I'm only a novice in Ancient Runes, but I'd like to a bit of supplemental reading and your book seems to be as good a start as any."
Oh yeah. Cassandra could smell a challenge from a mile away. This was so her element. She was like a bloody shark in the water.

"Very well, then," replied the professor after a slight pause. A student with pep... That was good, wasn't it, for a temporary professor like her?
"The book I wrote was called Runes and Magical Transport: Portals, and it's published under the name Avarielle Monolayre. However, you shouldn't try making a portal yourself without having me look over it first."
Self-explanatory, right?
Her inhuman eyes deftly glanced over her fastidious workers. Had they all finished by now?
OOC: I'll grade the assignments when I start the next class, but I dunno for sure when that'll be.

Amira got out of seat and walked in the direction of the teacher. Cassandra and Professor Monolayre were discussing runes and books and what not. Not wanting to interrupt their conversation she just laid her work on the teachers desk and returned back to her seat. The prefect wouldn't leave yet. Oh no. She had to figure out where she met this woman.
She continued to read about the runes then, going back and trying to memorize those. It wasn't a bit easy considering she was focusing on different things all at once. She could pretend to be studying, she would always have time later as long as Lorraine left non-hufflepuffs out of the hufflepuff common room and Garfunkle in his cramped box.
Amira calmly glanced up at Professor Monolayre. Where had she seen her before? Something popped into her head. It was something about a dumpster. Was Monolayre in the dumpster? Things that make you go "Hmmm". Amira stared at her textbook.

Adrian looked up at the teacher that had just walked in. She pulled off this cool while scary aura and launched straight in to the lesson. The red headed professor stepped into a weird circle looking thing. It began to glow a blue and she began to disappear and appeared walking out of the wall on the other end of the room.
She, then, pulled out a small stone looking thing. She broke it and insanely bright light filled the room. The Hufflepuff brought her hands up to her eyes and spread her pinky and ring fingers apart so she could see. When the light disappeared, she brought down her hands and sat them on her desk.
Adrian Adams Fifth Year Hufflepuff

It also symbolizes protection, and contains the idea of a light shining in the darkness. It is known as rune number 22.
Adrian waited for the ink to dry before getting up from her seat and walking on up to lay her paper on top of Amira's. She tromped back to her seat and sat, also trying to study while she had the extra time. As much as Adrian wanted to leave class, if she did, all eyes would be watching her and she would get embarrassed and bright red that she would be as noticeable as a peacock in a flock of geese. She was good at memorizing things. It was just who she was.
7 (neglected the year and that importance in the meaning, but included the number correspondence) + 9 (neglected fertility and romance) Total: 16
